Nach 40 Jahren an der Grenze des Landes

1 Die ganze Menge der Israeliten kam nun in die Wüste Zin. Das war im April.^[1] In Kadesch hatten sie ihre Zelte aufgeschlagen. Dort starb Mirjam und wurde auch dort begraben. 2 Als das Volk aber kein Wasser mehr hatte, rotteten sich die Leute gegen Mose und Aaron zusammen. 3 Sie waren wütend auf Mose und sagten: „Wären wir doch umgekommen wie die anderen, die Jahwe sterben ließ! 4 Warum habt ihr die Gemeinde Jahwes in diese Wüste gebracht? Damit wir hier sterben samt unserem Vieh? 5 Warum habt ihr uns überhaupt aus Ägypten herausgeführt? Um uns an diesen bösen Ort hier zu bringen? Hier kann man nicht säen, es gibt keine Feigenbäume, keine Weinstöcke, keine Granatapfelbäume, nicht einmal Wasser zum Trinken!“ 6 Mose und Aaron gingen aus der Versammlung weg an den Eingang zum Offenbarungszelt und warfen sich dort nieder, das Gesicht auf dem Boden. Da erschien ihnen die Herrlichkeit Jahwes. 7 Jahwe sagte zu Mose: 8 „Nimm den Stab und versammle die Gemeinde, du und dein Bruder Aaron. Sprecht dann vor ihren Augen zu dem Felsen, dass er sein Wasser hergebe. So wirst du ihnen aus dem Felsen Wasser hervorbringen und Menschen und Vieh zu trinken geben.“ 9 Mose nahm den Stab, der im Heiligtum vor Jahwe lag, und tat, wie ihm befohlen war. 10 Zusammen mit Aaron brachte er die Menge vor dem Felsen zusammen und rief: „Hört her, ihr Widerspenstigen! Können wir denn aus diesem Felsen Wasser für euch hervorkommen lassen?“ 11 Mose hob den Stab und schlug damit zweimal gegen den Felsen. Da kam viel Wasser heraus, sodass Menschen und Vieh genug zu trinken hatten. 12 Da sagte Jahwe zu Mose und Aaron: „Weil ihr mir nicht vertraut und mich den Israeliten nicht als heilig vor Augen gestellt habt, dürft ihr diese Versammlung nicht in das Land bringen, das ich ihnen gegeben habe.“ 13 Das ist die Quelle von Meriba, Vorwurf, weil die Israeliten hier Jahwe Vorwürfe machten, und er sich ihnen als der Heilige erwies.

Die Edomiter verweigern den Durchzug

14 Von Kadesch aus schickte Mose Boten zum König von Edom. Sie sollten ihm Folgendes ausrichten: „So spricht dein Bruder Israel: Du weißt, was wir alles durchgemacht haben. 15 Unsere Vorfahren zogen nach Ägypten und haben lange dort gewohnt. Aber die Ägypter behandelten uns und unsere Väter schlecht. 16 Da schrien wir zu Jahwe, und er hat uns gehört. Er schickte einen Engel, der uns aus Ägypten herausführte. Und nun sind wir in Kadesch, einer Stadt am Rand deines Gebiets. 17 Lass uns doch durch dein Land ziehen! Wir werden eure Felder und Weinberge nicht betreten und auch kein Wasser aus den Brunnen trinken. Wir werden auf der Königsstraße bleiben und keinen Schritt von ihr abweichen, solange wir durch dein Gebiet ziehen.“ 18 Doch Edom ließ Mose sagen: „Du wirst nicht bei mir durchziehen, sonst werde ich gegen dich kämpfen.“ 19 Die Israeliten versicherten noch einmal: „Wir wollen auf der festen Straße bleiben. Und wenn wir oder unser Vieh Wasser brauchen, werden wir es euch bezahlen. Wir kommen zu Fuß und wollen nur durch euer Land hindurch, weiter nichts.“ 20 Doch Edom sagte: „Du wirst nicht durchziehen!“ und rückte mit starker Heeresmacht gegen sie aus. 21 So weigerte sich Edom, Israel durch sein Gebiet ziehen zu lassen. Deshalb wählten die Israeliten einen anderen Weg.

Aarons Tod

22 Sie brachen von Kadesch auf, und die ganze Gemeinschaft der Israeliten kam zum Berg Hor,^[2] 23 der an der Grenze des Landes Edom liegt. Dort sagte Jahwe zu Mose und Aaron: 24 „Aaron wird nun mit seinen Vorfahren vereint werden, denn er soll nicht in das Land kommen, das ich den Israeliten gegeben habe, weil ihr euch am Wasser von Meriba gegen meinen Befehl aufgelehnt habt. 25 Steig mit Aaron und seinem Sohn Eleasar auf den Berg Hor! 26 Dort ziehst du Aaron die Amtsgewänder aus und legst sie seinem Sohn Eleasar an. Aaron wird dort sterben und mit seinen Vorfahren vereint werden.“ 27 Mose machte es so, wie Jahwe ihm befohlen hatte. Vor den Augen der ganzen Gemeinschaft stiegen sie auf den Berg Hor. 28 Mose streifte Aaron die Amtsgewänder ab und legte sie dessen Sohn Eleasar an. Aaron starb dort auf dem Gipfel des Berges. Und Mose stieg mit Eleasar wieder den Berg hinab. 29 Die ganze Versammlung sah nun, dass Aaron gestorben war. Dreißig Tage lang trauerte das ganze Haus Israel um Aaron.

1 وَفِي الشَّهْرِ الأَوَّلِ أَقْبَلَ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ عَلَى صَحْرَاءِ صِينَ، وَأَقَامُوا فِي قَادَشَ حَيْثُ مَاتَتْ مَرْيَمُ وَدُفِنَتْ هُنَاكَ. 2 وَإِذْ لَمْ يَتَوَافَرْ مَاءٌ لِلشَّعْبِ اجْتَمَعُوا عَلَى مُوسَى وَهَرُونَ، 3 وَخَاصَمُوا مُوسَى قَائِلِينَ لَهُ: «لَيْتَنَا هَلَكْنَا كَإِخْوَتِنَا الَّذِينَ أَهْلَكَهُمُ الرَّبُّ. 4 لِمَاذَا قُدْتُمَا شَعْبَ الرَّبِّ إِلَى هَذِهِ الصَّحْرَاءِ، لِكَيْ نَمُوتَ فِيهَا نَحْنُ وَمَوَاشِينَا؟ 5 لِمَاذَا أَخْرَجْتُمَانَا مِنْ مِصْرَ لِتَأْتِيَا بِنَا إِلَى هَذَا الْمَكَانِ الْقَاحِلِ، حَيْثُ لَا زَرْعَ فِيهِ وَلا تِينَ وَلا كَرْمَ وَلا رُمَّانَ وَلا مَاءَ لِلشُّرْبِ؟» 6 فَافْتَرَقَ مُوسَى وَهَرُونُ عَنِ الْجَمَاعَةِ، وَقَدِمَا إِلَى مَدْخَلِ خَيْمَةِ الاجْتِمَاعِ حَيْثُ انْطَرَحَا عَلَى وَجْهَيْهِمَا، فَتَرَاءَى لَهُمَا مَجْدُ الرَّبِّ، 7 وَقَالَ الرَّبُّ لِمُوسَى: 8 «خُذِ الْعَصَا، وَاجْمَعِ الشَّعْبَ أَنْتَ وَأَخُوكَ هَرُونُ وَأْمُرَا الصَّخْرَةَ عَلَى مَشْهَدٍ مِنْهُمْ أَنْ تُعْطِيَ مَاءَهَا، فَتُخْرِجَ لَهُمْ مَاءً مِنَ الصَّخْرَةِ فَيَشْرَبَ الشَّعْبُ وَمَوَاشِيهِمْ». 9 فَأَطَاعَ مُوسَى وَأَخَذَ الْعَصَا مِنْ أَمَامِ الرَّبِّ، 10 وَجَمَعَ مُوسَى وَهَرُونُ الشَّعْبَ عِنْدَ الصَّخْرَةِ وَقَالا لَهُمْ: «اسْمَعُوا أَيُّهَا الْمُتَمَرِّدُونَ، أَعَلَيْنَا أَنْ نُخْرِجَ لَكُمْ مِنْ هَذِهِ الصَّخْرَةِ مَاءً؟» 11 وَرَفَعَ مُوسَى يَدَهُ وَضَرَبَ الصَّخْرَةَ بِعَصَاهُ مَرَّتَيْنِ، فَتَفَجَّرَ مَاءٌ غَزِيرٌ، فَشَرِبَتِ الْجَمَاعَةُ وَمَوَاشِيهَا. 12 فَقَالَ الرَّبُّ لِمُوسَى وَهَرُونَ: «مِنْ حَيْثُ إِنَّكُمَا لَمْ تُؤْمِنَا بِي حَتَّى تُقَدِّسَانِي عَلَى مَرْأَىً مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ فَإِنَّكُمَا لَنْ تُدْخِلا هَذَا الشَّعْبَ الأَرْضَ الَّتِي وَهَبْتُهَا لَهُمْ». 13 فَكَانَ هَذَا مَاءَ مَرِيبَةَ حَيْثُ خَاصَمَ الإِسْرَائِيلِيُّونَ الرَّبَّ فَأَظْهَرَ قَدَاسَتَهُ أَمَامَهُمْ.

14 وَبَعَثَ مُوسَى رُسُلاً مِنْ قَادَشَ إِلَى مَلِكِ أَدُومَ يَقُولُونَ لَهُ: «هَذَا مَا يَقُولُهُ لَكَ أَخُوكَ إِسْرَائِيلُ: قَدْ بَلَغَكَ مَا أَصَابَنَا مِنْ مَشَقَّةٍ، 15 فَقَدِ انْحَدَرَ آبَاؤُنَا إِلَى مِصْرَ فَمَكَثْنَا فِيهَا أَيَّاماً كَثِيرَةً، فَسَامَنَا الْمِصْرِيُّونَ، نَحْنُ وَآبَاءَنَا سُوءَ الْعَذَابِ، 16 فَتَضَرَّعْنَا إِلَى الرَّبِّ فَاسْتَجَابَ لِصَوْتِنَا، وَأَرْسَلَ مَلاكاً أَخْرَجَنَا مِنْ مِصْرَ. وَهَا نَحْنُ نَازِلُونَ فِي مَدِينَةِ قَادَشَ فِي طَرَفِ تُخُومِكَ. 17 فَأْذَنْ لَنَا أَنْ نَمُرَّ فِي أَرْضِكَ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ نَدُوسَ فِي حَقْلٍ أَوْ كَرْمٍ أَوْ نَشْرَبَ مَاءَ بِئْرٍ، بَلْ نَسِيرُ فِي الطَّرِيقِ الْعَامَّةِ الْمُخَصَّصَةِ لِلسَّفَرِ. لَا نَمِيلُ يَمِيناً أَوْ شِمَالاً حَتَّى نَتَجَاوَزَ حُدُودَكَ». 18 فَقَالَ لَهُمْ مَلِكُ أَدُومَ: «إِيَّاكُمُ الْمُرُورَ بِأَرْضِي لِئَلّا أُجَابِهَكُمْ بِالسَّيْفِ». 19 فَأَجَابَهُ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ: «لَنْ نَسِيرَ إِلّا عَلَى طَرِيقِ السَّفَرِ، وَإِنِ اسْتَقَيْنَا نَحْنُ وَمَوَاشِينَا مِنْ مَائِكَ نَدْفَعْ ثَمَنَهُ. إِنَّنَا لَا نَطْلُبُ أَكْثَرَ مِنَ الْمُرُورِ رَاجِلِينَ». 20 فَقَالَ: «لا تَمُرُّوا». وَعَبَّأَ مَلِكُ أَدُومَ جَيْشاً قَوِيًّا وَخَرَجَ لِلِقَاءِ إِسْرَائِيلَ. 21 وَأَبَى مَلِكُ أَدُومَ أَنْ يَأْذَنَ لِلإِسْرَائِيلِيِّينَ بِاجْتِيَازِ أَرَاضِيهِ. فَتَحَوَّلُوا عَنْهُ.

2 Now there was no water for the congregation. And they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron. The Death of Aaron

22 And they journeyed from Kadesh, and the people of Israel, the whole congregation, came to Mount Hor. (4Mo 21,4; 4Mo 33,37) 23 And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron at Mount Hor, on the border of the land of Edom, 24 “Let Aaron be gathered to his people, for he shall not enter the land that I have given to the people of Israel, because you rebelled against my command at the waters of Meribah. 25 Take Aaron and Eleazar his son and bring them up to Mount Hor. 26 And strip Aaron of his garments and put them on Eleazar his son. And Aaron shall be gathered to his people and shall die there.” (4Mo 20,24) 27 Moses did as the Lord commanded. And they went up Mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation. 28 And Moses stripped Aaron of his garments and put them on Eleazar his son. And Aaron died there on the top of the mountain.
