5. Plage: Viehpest

1 Da sagte Jahwe zu Mose: "Geh zum Pharao und sag ihm: 'So spricht Jahwe, der Gott der Hebräer: Lass mein Volk ziehen, damit es mir dient! 

2 Denn wenn du dich weigerst und es weiter festhältst, 

3 dann pass auf! Jahwe wird eine schwere Seuche über deine Viehherden auf den Weiden bringen, über Pferde, Esel, Kamele, Rinder und das Kleinvieh. 

4 Außerdem wird Jahwe einen Unterschied zwischen dem Vieh Israels und dem Vieh der Ägypter machen. Vom Vieh, das den Israeliten gehört, wird auch nicht ein Stück verenden. 

5 Jahwe hat eine bestimmte Zeit dafür festgesetzt und zwar morgen!'" 

6 Am nächsten Tag schickte Jahwe die Seuche. Da verendete das ganze Herdenvieh der Ägypter, aber vom Vieh der Israeliten kam kein einziges Tier um. 

7 Der Pharao ließ es nachprüfen, und tatsächlich war bei den Israeliten nicht ein einziges Stück Vieh eingegangen. Dennoch blieb der Pharao starrsinnig und ließ das Volk nicht ziehen. 

6. Plage: Geschwüre

8 Da sagte Jahwe zu Mose und Aaron: "Nehmt beide Hände voll Ofenruß. Mose soll ihn vor den Augen des Pharao hochwerfen! 

9 Er wird dann als feiner Staub auf ganz Ägypten niedergehen und an Menschen und Tieren Geschwüre hervorrufen, die in Blasen aufbrechen." 

10 Da nahmen sie Ruß und traten vor den Pharao. Mose warf ihn in die Luft. Schon nach kurzer Zeit litten Menschen und Tiere an aufbrechenden Geschwüren. 

11 Wegen ihrer Geschwüre konnten die Magier Mose nicht entgegentreten, denn sie waren genauso davon befallen wie alle Ägypter. 

12 Doch Jahwe machte den Pharao starrsinnig, dass er auch diesmal nicht auf Mose und Aaron hörte, wie Jahwe es gesagt hatte. 

7. Plage: Hagel

13 Jahwe sagte zu Mose: "Geh morgen früh zum Pharao und sag zu ihm: 'So spricht Jahwe, der Gott der Hebräer: Lass mein Volk ziehen, damit es mir dient! 

14 Diesmal werde ich dich mit meinen Plagen ins Herz treffen, dich, deine Hofbeamten und dein Volk. Du sollst erkennen, dass niemand auf der ganzen Erde mir gleichkommt. 

15 Denn schon jetzt hätte ich dich mit der Pest schlagen können. Dann wärst du vom Erdboden verschwunden. 

16 Aber ich habe dich deshalb am Leben gelassen, um meine Macht an dir zu beweisen, damit mein Name in der ganzen Welt bekannt gemacht wird. (Röm 9,17) 

17 Du stellst dich immer noch gegen mein Volk und lässt es nicht ziehen. 

18 Morgen um diese Zeit werde ich einen so schweren Hagel kommen lassen, wie es ihn noch nie gegeben hat, solange Ägypten besteht. 

19 Lass dein Vieh in Sicherheit bringen und alles, was du noch im Freien hast! Alle Menschen und Tiere, die im Freien bleiben und nicht ins Haus kommen, wird der Hagel erschlagen.'" 

20 Die Minister des Pharao, die das Wort Jahwes fürchteten, ließen ihre Sklaven und ihr Vieh in die Häuser flüchten. 

21 Wer das Wort Jahwes aber nicht ernst nahm, ließ seine Sklaven und sein Vieh draußen. 

22 Jahwe sagte zu Mose: "Streck deine Hand zum Himmel aus! Dann wird in ganz Ägypten ein Hagel auf Menschen, Tiere und Pflanzen niedergehen." 

23 Mose hob seinen Stab zum Himmel hoch. Da ließ Jahwe es donnern und hageln. Blitze fuhren auf die Erde herab. So ließ Jahwe den Hagel auf Ägypten niedergehen. 

24 Mitten im Hagel zuckten die Blitze. Einen so schweren Hagel hatte es noch nie gegeben, solange Ägypten eine Nation war. 

25 Überall im Land tötete der Hagel die Menschen und Tiere, die sich im Freien befanden. Er zerschlug alles, was auf den Feldern wuchs, und brach die Äste von den Bäumen. 

26 Nur im Gebiet von Goschen, wo die Israeliten lebten, fiel kein Hagel. 

27 Da ließ der Pharao Mose und Aaron rufen und sagte ihnen: "Diesmal habe ich mich schuldig gemacht. Jahwe ist im Recht, ich und mein Volk sind im Unrecht. 

28 Betet zu Jahwe! Die Donnerstimme Gottes und der Hagel, das ist zu viel. Ich will euch ziehen lassen. Niemand wird euch zurückhalten." 

29 Da sagte Mose zu ihm: "Sobald ich die Stadt verlassen habe, werde ich meine Hände zu Jahwe ausbreiten. Dann wird der Donner aufhören und kein neuer Hagel mehr entstehen. Daran wirst du erkennen, dass die ganze Erde Jahwe gehört. 

30 Aber ich weiß: Du und deine Hofbeamten, ihr fürchtet euch immer noch nicht vor Jahwe-Gott!" 

31 Flachs und Gerste waren zerschlagen, denn die Gerste hatte schon Ähren angesetzt und der Flachs stand in Blüte. 

32 Weizen und Dinkel blieben verschont, weil sie später reif werden. 

33 Mose verließ den Pharao und ging aus der Stadt hinaus. Dort breitete er seine Hände zu Jahwe aus. Da hörten Donner und Hagel auf, und es regnete auch nicht mehr. 

34 Als der Pharao sah, dass das Unwetter aufgehört hatte, blieb er bei seiner Sünde. Er und seine Hofbeamten verschlossen ihr Herz. 

35 So blieb der Pharao hart und ließ die Israeliten nicht ziehen, wie Jahwe es durch Mose angekündigt hatte.

1 ثُمَّ قَالَ الرَّبُّ لِمُوسَى: «امْضِ إِلَى فِرْعَوْنَ وَقُلْ لَهُ: هَذَا مَا يُعْلِنُهُ إِلَهُ الْعِبْرَانِيِّينَ أَطْلِقْ شَعْبِي لِيَعْبُدَنِي. 

2 لأَنَّكَ إنْ أَبَيْتَ أَنْ تُطْلِقَهُمْ وَحَجَزْتَهُمْ لَدَيْكَ، 

3 فَإِنَّ يَدَ الرَّبِّ سَتُهْلِكُ مَوَاشِيكَ الَّتِي فِي الْحُقُولِ، وَالْخُيُولَ، وَالْحَمِيرَ وَالجِّمَالَ وَالْثِّيرَانَ وَالْغَنَمَ، بِوَبَأٍ شَدِيدٍ جِدّاً. 

4 وَأُمَيِّزُ بَيْنَ مَوَاشِي إِسْرَائِيلَ وَمَوَاشِي الْمِصْرِيِّينَ. فَلا يَهْلِكُ شَيْءٌ لِبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ». 

5 وَعَيَّنَ الرَّبُّ مَوْعِداً لِذَلِكَ قَائِلاً: «غَداً يَصْنَعُ الرَّبُّ هَذَا فِي الأَرْضِ». 

6 وَفِي الْغَدِ صَنَعَ الرَّبُّ هَذَا الأَمْرَ. فَهَلَكَتْ جَمِيعُ مَوَاشِي الْمِصْرِيِّينَ، أَمَّا مَوَاشِي بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ فَلَمْ يَهْلِكْ مِنْهَا وَاحِدٌ. 

7 وَأَرْسَلَ فِرْعَوْنُ لِيَتَحَقَّقَ مِنَ الأَمْرِ، وَإذَا مَوَاشِي إِسْرَائِيلَ لَمْ يَهْلِكْ مِنْهَا وَاحِدٌ. وَتَصَلَّبَ قَلْبُ فِرْعَوْنَ فَلَمْ يُطْلِقْ الشَّعْبَ.

8 فَقَالَ الرَّبُّ لِمُوسَى وَهَرُونَ: «لِيَأْخُذْ كُلٌّ مِنْكُمَا حَفْنَةً مِنْ رَمَادِ الْأَتُونِ، وَلْيُذَرِّ مُوسَى الرَّمَادَ نَحْوَ السَّمَاءِ بِمَرْأَى مِنْ فِرْعَوْنَ، 

9 فَيَتَحَوَّلَ إِلَى غُبَارٍ يُغَطِّي كُلَّ أَرْضِ مِصْرَ، فَيُصَابَ النَّاسُ وَالْبَهَائِمُ بِدَمَامِلَ مُتَقَيِّحَةٍ فِي كُلِّ أَرْضِ مِصْرَ». 

10 فَأَخَذَا رَمَاداً مِنَ الأَتُونِ، وَوَقَفَا أَمَامَ فِرْعَوْنَ، ثُمَّ ذَرَّاهُ مُوسَى نَحْوَ السَّمَاءِ، فَتَحَوَّلَ إِلَى دَمَامِلَ مُتَقَيِّحَةٍ أَصَابَتِ النَّاسَ وَالْبَهَائِمَ. 

11 وَلَمْ يَسْتَطِعِ السَّحَرَةُ أَنْ يُواجِهُوا مُوسَى مِن جَرَّاءِ الدَّمَامِلِ، لأَنَّ الدَّمَامِلَ أَصَابَتِ السَّحَرَةَ وَكُلَّ الْمِصْرِيِّينَ أَيْضاً. 

12 لَكِنَّ الرَّبَّ قَسَّى قَلْبَ فِرْعَوْنَ فَلَمْ يَسْمَعْ لَهُمَا، تَمَاماً كَمَا قَالَ الرَّبُّ لِمُوسَى.

13 ثُمَّ قَالَ الرَّبُّ لِمُوسَى: «قُمْ مُبَكِّراً فِي الصَّبَاحِ وَامْثُلْ أَمَامَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَقُلْ لَهُ: هَذَا مَا يُعْلِنُهُ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُ الْعِبْرَانِيِّينَ: أَطْلِقْ شَعْبِي لِيَعْبُدَنِي. 

14 لأَنَّنِي فِي هَذِهِ الْمَرَّةِ سَأُوَجِّهُ جَمِيعَ ضَرَبَاتِي إِلَى قَلْبِكَ وَإِلَى حَاشِيَتِكَ وَإِلَى شَعْبِكَ، لِكَيْ تَعْرِفَ أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ مَثِيلٌ لِي فِي كُلِّ الأَرْضِ. 

15 فَقَدْ كَانَ بِوُسْعِي حَتَّى الآنَ أَنْ أَمُدَّ يَدِي وَأَضْرِبَكَ وَأَضْرِبَ شَعْبَكَ أَيْضاً بِالوَبَأِ لِتُبَادَ مِنَ الأَرْضِ، 

16 وَلَكِنَّنِي أَقَمْتُكَ لأُرِيَكَ قُوَّتِي، وَلِكَيْ يُذَاعَ اسْمِي فِي جَمِيعِ الأَرْضِ. 

17 وَهَا أَنْتَ مَازِلْتَ تُقَاوِمُ شَعْبِي وَلا تُطْلِقُهُ. 

18 لِذَلِكَ غَداً فِي مِثْلِ هَذَا الْوَقْتِ أُمْطِرُ بَرَداً ثَقِيلاً لَمْ تَشْهَدْهُ مِصْرُ مُنْذُ يَوْمِ تَأْسِيسِهَا حَتَّى الآنَ. 

19 فَأَرْسِلِ الآنَ وَاجْمَعْ مَوَاشِيَكَ وَكُلَّ مَالَكَ فِي الْحَقْلِ، لأَنَّ كُلَّ مَنْ يَمْكُثُ فِي الْحَقْلِ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَالْبَهَائِمِ وَلا يَلْجَأُ إِلَى مَأْوىً، يَنْهَمِرُ عَلَيْهِ الْبَرَدُ فَيَمُوتُ». 

20 فَكُلُّ مَنْ خَافَ كَلِمَةَ الرَّبِّ مِنْ رِجَالِ فِرْعَوْنَ لاذَ بِعَبِيدِهِ وَمَاشِيَتِهِ بِالْبُيُوتِ، 

21 أَمَّا الَّذِينَ اسْتَخَفُّوا بِكَلامِ الرَّبِّ فَقَدْ تَرَكُوا عَبِيدَهُمْ وَمَوَاشِيَهُمْ فِي الْحَقْلِ. 

22 وَقَالَ الرَّبُّ لِمُوسَى: «مُدَّ يَدَكَ نَحْوَ السَّمَاءِ فَيَنْهَمِرَ الْبَرَدُ عَلَى كُلِّ أَرْضِ مِصْرَ، وَعَلَى الرِّجَالِ وَالْبَهَائِمِ وَعَلَى عُشْبِ الْحَقْلِ فِي جَمِيعِ أَرْضِ مِصْرَ». 

23 فَمَدَّ مُوسَى عَصَاهُ نَحْوَ السَّمَاءِ، فَأَرْسَلَ الرَّبُّ رُعُوداً وَبَرَداً. وَأَصَابَتِ الصَّوَاعِقُ الأَرْضَ، وَأَمْطَرَ الرَّبُّ بَرَداً عَلَى كُلِّ بِلادِ مِصْرَ، 

24 فَانْهَمَرَ الْبَرَدُ، وَاخْتَلَطَتِ الصَّوَاعِقُ بِالْبَرَدِ، فَكَانَتْ أَسْوَأَ عَاصِفَةٍ شَهِدَتْهَا أَرْضُ مِصْرَ مُنْذُ أَنْ صَارَتْ أُمَّةً. 

25 وَأَصَابَ الْبَرَدُ فِي كُلِّ أَرْجَاءِ مِصْرَ جَمِيعَ مَا فِي الْحُقُولِ مِنْ نَاسٍ وَبَهَائِمَ. وَأَتْلَفَ كُلَّ نَبَاتٍ نَامٍ فِي الْحَقْلِ وَكَسَّرَ جَمِيعَ الأَشْجَارِ. 

26 أَمَّا أَرْضُ جَاسَانَ حَيْثُ يُقِيمُ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ، فَإِنَّهَا وَحْدَهَا لَمْ يَسْقُطْ فِيهَا بَرَدٌ. 

27 فَأَرْسَلَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَاسْتَدْعَى مُوسَى وَهَرُونَ وَقَالَ لَهُمَا: «لَقَدْ أَخْطَأْتُ هَذِهِ الْمَرَّةَ وَالرَّبُّ هُوَ الْبَارُّ، أَمَّا أَنَا وَشَعْبِي فَأَشْرَارٌ، 

28 فَتَضَرَّعَا إِلَى الرَّبِّ إذْ يَكْفِينَا مَا ابْتُلِينَا بِهِ مِنْ رُعُودٍ وَبَرَدٍ، فَأُطْلِقَكُمْ، وَلا تَمْكُثُونَ هُنَا بَعْدُ». 

29 فَأَجَابَ مُوسَى: «حَالَمَا أَخْرُجُ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ أَبْسُطُ يَدِي فِي الصَّلاةِ إِلَى الرَّبِّ فَيَتَوَقَّفُ الرَّعْدُ وَيَنْقَطِعُ الْبَرَدُ لِكَيْ تَعْرِفَ أَنَّ الأَرْضَ هِيَ للرَّبِّ. 

30 وَلَكِنَّنِي عَالِمٌ أَنَّكَ أَنْتَ وَحَاشِيَتَكَ مَازِلْتُمْ لَا تَخْشَوْنَ الرَّبَّ الإِلَهَ». 

31 إنَّ الْكَتَّانَ وَالشَّعِيرَ قَدْ تَلِفَا، لأَنَّ الشَّعِيرَ أَصْبَحَ سَنَابِلَ، وَالكَتَّانَ كَانَ مُبْزِراً، 

32 أَمَّا الْحِنْطَةُ وَالقَطَانِيُّ فَلَمْ تَتْلَفْ بَعْدُ لأَنَّهَا تَنْمُو مُتَأَخِّرَةً. 

33 وَانْصَرَفَ مُوسَى مِنْ لَدُنْ فِرْعَوْنَ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ وَبَسَطَ يَدَيْهِ إِلَى الرَّبِّ، فَتَوَقَّفَ الرَّعْدُ وَالْبَرَدُ وَانْقَطَعَ الْمَطَرُ عَنِ الانْهِمَارِ عَلَى الأَرْضِ. 

34 وَعِنْدَمَا رَأَى فِرْعَوْنُ أَنَّ الْمَطَرَ وَالْبَرَدَ وَالرَّعْدَ قَدْ تَوَقَّفَتْ أَخْطَأَ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى وَصَلَّبَ قَلْبَهُ هُوَ وَحَاشِيَتُهُ. 

35 وَهَكَذَا تَقَسَّى قَلْبُ فِرْعَوْنَ، فَلَمْ يُطْلِقْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ، تَمَاماً كَمَا أَنْبَأَ الرَّبُّ عَلَى لِسَانِ مُوسَى.

The Fifth Plague: Egyptian Livestock Die

1 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go in to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, “Let my people go, that they may serve me. (2Mo 7,16; 2Mo 8,1) 

2 For if you refuse to let them go and still hold them, 

3 behold, the hand of the Lord will fall with a very severe plague upon your livestock that are in the field, the horses, the donkeys, the camels, the herds, and the flocks. (2Mo 7,4) 

4 But the Lord will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt, so that nothing of all that belongs to the people of Israel shall die.”’” (2Mo 8,22; 2Mo 11,7) 

5 And the Lord set a time, saying, “Tomorrow the Lord will do this thing in the land.” 

6 And the next day the Lord did this thing. All the livestock of the Egyptians died, but not one of the livestock of the people of Israel died. (2Mo 9,19) 

7 And Pharaoh sent, and behold, not one of the livestock of Israel was dead. But the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the people go. (2Mo 7,14) 

The Sixth Plague: Boils

8 And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Take handfuls of soot from the kiln, and let Moses throw them in the air in the sight of Pharaoh. 

9 It shall become fine dust over all the land of Egypt, and become boils breaking out in sores on man and beast throughout all the land of Egypt.” (3Mo 13,18; 5Mo 28,27; 2Kön 20,7; Hi 2,7; Jes 38,21; Offb 16,2) 

10 So they took soot from the kiln and stood before Pharaoh. And Moses threw it in the air, and it became boils breaking out in sores on man and beast. 

11 And the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils, for the boils came upon the magicians and upon all the Egyptians. (2Mo 7,11; 2Tim 3,9) 

12 But the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he did not listen to them, as the Lord had spoken to Moses. (2Mo 4,21) 

The Seventh Plague: Hail

13 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Rise up early in the morning and present yourself before Pharaoh and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, “Let my people go, that they may serve me. (2Mo 7,15; 2Mo 8,20) 

14 For this time I will send all my plagues on you yourself, and on your servants and your people, so that you may know that there is none like me in all the earth. (2Mo 8,10) 

15 For by now I could have put out my hand and struck you and your people with pestilence, and you would have been cut off from the earth. 

16 But for this purpose I have raised you up, to show you my power, so that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth. (2Mo 10,1; 2Mo 11,9; 2Mo 14,17; Ps 83,18; Spr 16,4; Jes 63,12; Röm 9,17) 

17 You are still exalting yourself against my people and will not let them go. (Neh 9,10) 

18 Behold, about this time tomorrow I will cause very heavy hail to fall, such as never has been in Egypt from the day it was founded until now. 

19 Now therefore send, get your livestock and all that you have in the field into safe shelter, for every man and beast that is in the field and is not brought home will die when the hail falls on them.”’” (2Mo 9,4) 

20 Then whoever feared the word of the Lord among the servants of Pharaoh hurried his slaves and his livestock into the houses, 

21 but whoever did not pay attention to the word of the Lord left his slaves and his livestock in the field. 

22 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward heaven, so that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, on man and beast and every plant of the field, in the land of Egypt.” (Offb 16,21) 

23 Then Moses stretched out his staff toward heaven, and the Lord sent thunder and hail, and fire ran down to the earth. And the Lord rained hail upon the land of Egypt. (Jos 10,11; 1Sam 12,17; Ps 18,13; Ps 78,47; Ps 105,32; Ps 148,8; Jes 30,30; Hes 38,22; Offb 8,7) 

24 There was hail and fire flashing continually in the midst of the hail, very heavy hail, such as had never been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation. 

25 The hail struck down everything that was in the field in all the land of Egypt, both man and beast. And the hail struck down every plant of the field and broke every tree of the field. (Ps 78,47; Ps 105,33) 

26 Only in the land of Goshen, where the people of Israel were, was there no hail. (2Mo 8,22; 2Mo 9,4; 2Mo 9,6; 2Mo 10,23; 2Mo 11,7; 2Mo 12,13; Jes 32,18) 

27 Then Pharaoh sent and called Moses and Aaron and said to them, “This time I have sinned; the Lord is in the right, and I and my people are in the wrong. (2Mo 10,16; 2Chr 12,6; Ps 129,4; Ps 145,17; Kla 1,18; Dan 9,14) 

28 Plead with the Lord, for there has been enough of God’s thunder and hail. I will let you go, and you shall stay no longer.” (2Mo 8,8) 

29 Moses said to him, “As soon as I have gone out of the city, I will stretch out my hands to the Lord. The thunder will cease, and there will be no more hail, so that you may know that the earth is the Lord’s. (5Mo 10,14; 1Kön 8,22; 1Kön 8,38; Ps 24,1; Ps 143,6; Jes 1,15; 1Kor 10,26) 

30 But as for you and your servants, I know that you do not yet fear the Lord God.” (Jes 26,10) 

31 (The flax and the barley were struck down, for the barley was in the ear and the flax was in bud. 

32 But the wheat and the emmer were not struck down, for they are late in coming up.) 

33 So Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh and stretched out his hands to the Lord, and the thunder and the hail ceased, and the rain no longer poured upon the earth. (2Mo 9,29) 

34 But when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunder had ceased, he sinned yet again and hardened his heart, he and his servants. (2Mo 7,14; 1Sam 6,6) 

35 So the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the people of Israel go, just as the Lord had spoken through Moses. (2Mo 4,21)

3 рука Вечного поразит страшным мором твой скот в поле: лошадей, ослов, верблюдов, быков и коров, овец и коз. 

4 Но Вечный сделает так, что между скотом Исраила и Египта будет различие: у исраильтян не падёт ни одно животное». 

5 Вечный назначил время, сказав: – Завтра Вечный сделает так в этой земле. 

6 На следующий день Вечный так и сделал. Весь скот египтян пал, но у исраильтян не пало ни одно животное. 

7 Фараон послал людей, чтобы проверить это, и узнал, что ни одно животное исраильтян не пало. Но его сердце так и осталось упрямым, и он не отпустил народ. 

Шестое наказание: нарывы

8 Вечный сказал Мусе и Харуну: – Возьмите по полной пригоршне золы из печи. Пусть Муса бросит её в воздух на глазах у фараона. 

9 Она тонкой пылью будет витать над всем Египтом, и по всей стране на людях и на скоте появятся гнойные нарывы. 

10 Они взяли золу из печи и предстали перед фараоном. Муса бросил золу в воздух, и на людях и скотине появились гнойные нарывы. 

11 Чародеи не вышли к Мусе из-за нарывов, которые появились на них и на всех египтянах. 

12 Но Вечный сделал сердце фараона упрямым, и он не послушал Мусу и Харуна, как Вечный и говорил Мусе. 

Седьмое наказание: град

13 Вечный сказал Мусе: – Поднимись завтра рано утром, иди к фараону и скажи ему: Так говорит Вечный, Бог евреев: «Отпусти Мой народ поклониться Мне. 

14 На этот раз Я накажу тебя, твоих приближённых и твой народ самыми страшными карами, чтобы ты знал: нет на земле подобного Мне. 

15 Я мог бы занести руку и поразить тебя и твой народ мором, который смёл бы вас с лица земли. 

16 Но Я возвысил тебя для того, чтобы показать тебе Мою силу и чтобы имя Моё стало известно по всей земле. 

17 Ты всё ещё против Моего народа и не отпускаешь его. 

18 Так слушай: завтра в это время Я пошлю такой страшный град, какого Египет не знал со времён своего основания. 

19 Поэтому прикажи отвести скот и всё, что у тебя есть в безопасное место. Град будет падать на всех людей и животных, которые останутся в поле без прикрытия. И все они погибнут». 

20 Те приближённые фараона, которые испугались слов Вечного, поспешили увести рабов и скот. 

21 А те, которые пренебрегли посланием Вечного, оставили рабов и скот в поле. 

22 Вечный сказал Мусе: – Подними руку к небу, и град падёт на Египет: на людей, на животных и на всё, что растёт в полях Египта. 

23 Муса поднял посох к небу, и Вечный послал гром и град. Молния ударила в землю. Вечный обрушил град на землю Египта. 

24 Повсюду шёл град и били молнии. Такой бури не было в Египте с тех пор, как в нём поселились люди. 

25 По всему Египту град разил на полях и людей, и животных. Град побил всё, что росло в полях, и поломал деревья. 

26 Только в земле Гошен, где жили исраильтяне, града не было. 

27 Фараон послал за Мусой и Харуном. – На этот раз я согрешил, – сказал он им. – Вечный прав, а я и мой народ виновны. 

28 Помолитесь Вечному, довольно с нас ужасного грома и града! Я отпущу вас, вам больше не нужно оставаться. 

29 Муса ответил: – Я выйду из города, воздену руки и помолюсь Вечному. Гром утихнет и града больше не будет для того, чтобы ты знал, что хозяин земли – Вечный. 

30 Но я знаю, что ты и твои приближённые по-прежнему не боитесь Вечного Бога. 

31 (Лён и ячмень погибли, потому что в ту пору ячмень колосился, а лён цвёл. 

32 А пшеница и полба не погибли: они созревают позже.) 

33 Муса ушёл от фараона, вышел из города и воздел руки в молитве к Вечному. Гром и град прекратились. Дождь больше не проливался на землю. 

34 Фараон увидел, что дождь, град и гром прекратились, и опять согрешил: его сердце и сердца его приближённых оставались упрямыми. 

35 Сердце фараона исполнилось упрямством, и он не отпустил исраильтян, как Вечный и говорил через Мусу.
