1 Die Schlange war listiger als all die Tiere, die Jahwe-Gott gemacht hatte. Sie fragte die Frau: "Hat Gott wirklich gesagt, dass ihr von keinem Baum im Garten essen dürft?" 2 "Natürlich essen wir von den Früchten", entgegnete die Frau, 3 "nur von den Früchten des Baumes in der Mitte des Gartens hat Gott gesagt: 'Davon dürft ihr nicht essen – sie nicht einmal berühren –, sonst müsst ihr sterben.'" 4 "Sterben?", widersprach die Schlange, "sterben werdet ihr nicht. 5 Aber Gott weiß genau, dass euch die Augen aufgehen, wenn ihr davon esst. Ihr werdet wissen, was Gut und Böse ist, und werdet sein wie Gott." 6 Als die Frau nun sah, wie gut von dem Baum zu essen wäre, was für eine Augenweide er war und wie viel Einsicht er versprach, da nahm sie eine Frucht und aß. Sie gab auch ihrem Mann davon, der neben ihr stand. Auch er aß. 7 Da gingen beiden die Augen auf. Sie merkten auf einmal, dass sie nackt waren. Deshalb machten sie sich Lendenschurze aus zusammengehefteten Feigenblättern. 8 Am Abend, als es kühler wurde, hörten sie Jahwe-Gott durch den Garten gehen. Da versteckten sich der Mann und seine Frau vor Jahwe-Gott zwischen den Bäumen. 9 Doch Jahwe-Gott rief den Menschen:[1] "Wo bist du?" 10 Der antwortete: "Ich hörte dich durch den Garten gehen und bekam Angst, weil ich nackt bin. Deshalb habe ich mich versteckt." 11 "Wer hat dir gesagt, dass du nackt bist?", ‹fragte Gott›. "Hast du etwa von dem verbotenen Baum gegessen?" 12 Der Mensch erwiderte: "Die Frau, die du mir zur Seite gestellt hast, gab mir etwas davon; da habe ich gegessen." 13 "Was hast du da getan?", fragte Jahwe-Gott die Frau. "Die Schlange hat mich verführt", entgegnete sie. 14 Da sagte Jahwe-Gott zur Schlange: "Weil du das getan hast, / sei mehr verflucht als alles Herdenvieh / und mehr als alle wilden Tiere! / Kriech auf dem Bauch / und schlucke Staub[2] dein Leben lang! 15 Ich stelle Feindschaft zwischen dich und die Frau, / deinem Nachwuchs und ihrem. / Er wird dir den Kopf zertreten, / und du wirst ihm die Ferse zerbeißen." 16 Zur Frau sagte er: "Viele Unannehmlichkeiten werden über dich kommen / und die Beschwerden deiner Schwangerschaft. / Mit Schmerzen wirst du Kinder gebären. / Dein Verlangen[3] wird sein, deinen Mann zu besitzen, / doch er wird herrschen über dich" (1Mo 4,7; Hl 7,10) 17 Zu Adam[4] sagte er: "Weil du auf deine Frau gehört und von dem Baum gegessen hast, obwohl ich dir das ausdrücklich verboten habe, vernimm das Folgende: , Deinetwegen sei der Acker verflucht! / Um dich von ihm zu ernähren, / musst du dich lebenslang mühen. 18 Dornen und Disteln werden dort wachsen, / doch bietet er dir auch Frucht. 19 Mit Schweiß wirst du dein Brot verdienen, / bis du zurückkehrst zur Erde,[5] / von der du genommen bist. / Denn Staub bist du, / und zu Staub wirst du werden.'" 20 Adam gab seiner Frau den Namen Eva, Leben, denn sie sollte die Mutter aller lebenden ‹Menschen› werden. 21 Dann bekleidete Jahwe-Gott Adam und seine Frau mit Gewändern aus Fell 22 und sagte: "Nun ist der Mensch wie einer von uns geworden. Er erkennt Gut und Böse. Auf keinen Fall darf er jetzt auch noch vom Baum des Lebens essen, um ewig zu leben." 23 Deshalb schickte Jahwe-Gott ihn aus dem Garten Eden hinaus. Er sollte den Ackerboden bearbeiten, von dem er genommen war. 24 So vertrieb er den Menschen. Östlich vom Garten Eden stellte er die Cherubim[6] auf, dazu eine flammende umherwirbelnde Klinge, um den Weg zum Baum des Lebens zu bewachen.

1 وَكَانَتِ الْحَيَّةُ أَمْكَرَ وُحُوشِ الْبَرِّيَّةِ الَّتِي صَنَعَهَا الرَّبُّ الإِلَهُ، فَسَأَلَتِ الْمَرْأَةَ: «أَحَقّاً أَمَرَكُمَا اللهُ أَلَّا تَأْكُلَا مِنْ جَمِيعِ شَجَرِ الْجَنَّةِ؟» 2 فَأَجَابَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ: «يُمْكِنُنَا أَنْ نَأْكُلَ مِنْ ثَمَرِ الْجَنَّةِ كُلِّهَا، 3 مَاعَدَا ثَمَرَ الشَّجَرَةِ الَّتِي فِي وَسَطِهَا، فَقَدْ قَالَ اللهُ: لَا تَأْكُلَا مِنْهُ وَلَا تَلْمَسَاهُ وَإلَّا تَمُوتَا». 4 فَقَالَتِ الْحَيَّةُ لِلْمَرْأَةِ: «لَنْ تَمُوتَا، 5 بَلْ إِنَّ اللهَ يَعْرِفُ أَنَّهُ يَوْمَ تَأْكُلانِ مِنْ ثَمَرِ هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةِ تَنْفَتِحُ أَعْيُنُكُمَا فَتَصِيرَانِ مِثْلَهُ، قَادِرَيْنِ عَلَى التَّمْيِيزِ بَيْنَ الْخَيْرِ وَالشَّرِّ». 6 وَعِنْدَمَا شَاهَدَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ أَنَّ الشَّجَرَةَ لَذِيذَةٌ لِلْمَأْكَلِ وَشَهِيَّةٌ لِلْعُيُونِ، وَمُثِيرَةٌ لِلنَّظَرِ قَطَفَتْ مِنْ ثَمَرِهَا وَأَكَلَتْ، ثُمَّ أَعْطَتْ زَوْجَهَا أَيْضاً فَأَكَلَ مَعَهَا، 7 فَانْفَتَحَتْ لِلْحَالِ أَعْيُنُهُمَا، وَأَدْرَكَا أَنَّهُمَا عُرْيَانَانِ، فَخَاطَا لأَنْفُسِهِمَا مَآزِرَ مِنْ أَوْرَاقِ التِّينِ. 8 ثُمَّ سَمِعَ الزَّوْجَانِ صَوْتَ الرَّبِّ الإِلَهِ وَهُوَ يَمْشِي فِي الْجَنَّةِ عِنْدَ هُبُوبِ رِيحِ النَّهَارِ، فَاخْتَبَآ مِنْ حَضْرَةِ الرَّبِّ الإِلَهِ بَيْنَ شَجَرِ الْجَنَّةِ. 9 فَنَادَى الرَّبُّ الإِلَهُ آدَمَ: «أَيْنَ أَنْتَ؟» 10 فَأَجَابَ: «سَمِعْتُ صَوْتَكَ فِي الْجَنَّةِ فَاخْتَبَأْتُ خِشْيَةً مِنْكَ لأَنِّي عُرْيَانٌ». 11 فَسَأَلَهُ: «مَنْ قَالَ لَكَ إِنَّكَ عُرْيَانٌ؟ هَلْ أَكَلْتَ مِنْ ثَمَرِ الشَّجَرَةِ الَّتِي نَهَيْتُكَ عَنْهَا؟» 12 فَأَجَابَ آدَمُ: «إِنَّهَا الْمَرْأَةُ الَّتِي جَعَلْتَهَا رَفِيقَةً لِي. هِيَ الَّتِي أَطْعَمَتْنِي مِنْ ثَمَرِ الشَّجَرَةِ، فَأَكَلْتُ». 13 فَسَأَلَ الرَّبُّ الإِلَهُ الْمَرْأَةَ: «مَاذَا فَعَلْتِ؟» فَأَجَابَتْ: «أَغْوَتْنِي الْحَيَّةُ فَأَكَلْتُ». 14 فَقَالَ الرَّبُّ الإِلَهُ لِلْحَيَّةِ: «لأَنَّكِ فَعَلْتِ هَذَا، مَلْعُونَةٌ أَنْتِ مِنْ بَيْنَ جَمِيعِ الْبَهَائِمِ وَمِنْ جَمِيعِ وُحُوشِ الْبَرِّيَّةِ، عَلَى بَطْنِكِ تَسْعَيْنَ، وَمِنَ التُّرَابِ تَأْكُلِينَ طَوَالَ حَيَاتِكِ، 15 وَأُثِيرُ عَدَاوَةً دَائِمَةً بَيْنَكِ وَبَيْنَ الْمَرْأَةِ، وَكَذَلِكَ بَيْنَ نَسْلَيْكُمَا. هُوَ يَسْحَقُ رَأْسَكِ وَأَنْتِ تَلْدَغِينَ عَقِبَهُ». 16 ثُمَّ قَالَ لِلْمَرْأَةِ: «أُكَثِّرُ تَكْثِيراً أَوْجَاعَ مَخَاضِكِ فَتُنْجِبِينَ بِالآلَامِ أَوْلَاداً، وَإِلَى زَوْجِكِ يَكُونُ اشْتِيَاقُكِ وَهُوَ يَتَسَلَّطُ عَلَيْكِ». 17 وَقَالَ لِآدَمَ: «لأَنَّكَ أَذْعَنْتَ لِقَوْلِ امْرَأَتِكَ، وَأَكَلْتَ مِنَ الشَّجَرَةِ الَّتِي نَهَيْتُكَ عَنْهَا، فَالأَرْضُ مَلْعُونَةٌ بِسَبَبِكَ وَبِالْمَشَقَّةِ تَقْتَاتُ مِنْهَا طَوَالَ عُمْرِكَ. 18 شَوْكاً وَحَسَكاً تُنْبِتُ لَكَ، وَأَنْتَ تَأْكُلُ عُشْبَ الْحَقْلِ. 19 بِعَرَقِ جَبِينِكَ تَكْسَبُ عَيْشَكَ حَتَّى تَعُودَ إِلَى الأَرْضِ، فَمِنْ تُرَابٍ أُخِذْتَ، وَإِلَى تُرَابٍ تَعُودُ». 20 وَسَمَّى آدَمُ زَوْجَتَهُ «حَوَّاءَ» لأَنَّهَا أُمُّ كُلِّ حَيٍّ. 21 وَكَسَا الرَّبُّ الإِلَهُ آدَمَ وَزَوْجَتَهُ رِدَاءَيْنِ مِنْ جِلْدٍ صَنَعَهُمَا لَهُمَا. 22 ثُمَّ قَالَ الرَّبُّ الإِلَهُ: «هَا الإِنْسَانُ قَدْ صَارَ كَوَاحِدٍ مِنَّا، يُمَيِّزُ بَيْنَ الْخَيْرِ وَالشَّرِّ. وَقَدْ يَمُدُّ يَدَهُ وَيَتَنَاوَلُ مِنْ شَجَرَةِ الْحَيَاةِ وَيَأْكُلُ، فَيَحْيَا إِلَى الأَبَدِ». 23 فَأَخْرَجَهُ مِنْ جَنَّةِ عَدْنٍ لِيَفْلَحَ الأَرْضَ الَّتِي أُخِذَ مِنْ تُرَابِهَا. 24 وَهَكَذَا طَرَدَ اللهُ الإِنْسَانَ مِنْ جَنَّةِ عَدْنٍ، وَأَقَامَ مَلائِكَةَ الْكَرُوبِيمِ وَسَيْفاً نَارِيًّا مُتَقَلِّباً شَرْقِيَّ الْجَنَّةِ لِحِرَاسَةِ الطَّرِيقِ الْمُفْضِيَةِ إِلَى«شَجَرَةِ الْحَيَاةِ».

1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You[1] shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” (Mt 10,16; 2Kor 11,3; Offb 12,9; Offb 20,2) 2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, 3 but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’” (1Mo 2,17) 4 But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. (1Mo 3,13; Joh 8,44; 2Kor 11,3) 5 For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise,[2] she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. (1Mo 3,12; 1Mo 3,17; Hos 6,7; 1Tim 2,14) 7 Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths. (1Mo 2,25; 1Mo 3,5) 8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool[3] of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. (Ps 139,1; Jer 23,23) 9 But the Lord God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?”[4] 10 And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.” (1Mo 2,25; 1Mo 3,7) 11 He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” 12 The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.” (1Mo 2,18; Hi 31,33) 13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” (1Mo 3,4; 2Kor 11,3; 1Tim 2,14) 14 The Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, cursed are you above all livestock and above all beasts of the field; on your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life. (Jes 65,25; Mi 7,17) 15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring[5] and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.” (Jes 7,14; Mi 5,3; Mt 1,23; Mt 1,25; Lk 1,34; Röm 16,20; Gal 4,4; 1Tim 2,15; Hebr 2,14; Offb 20,1; Offb 20,10) 16 To the woman he said, “I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children. Your desire shall be contrary to[6] your husband, but he shall rule over you.” (1Mo 4,7; Hl 7,10; Joh 16,21; 1Kor 11,3; 1Kor 14,34; Eph 5,22; Kol 3,18; 1Tim 2,11; Tit 2,5; 1Petr 3,1; 1Petr 3,5) 17 And to Adam he said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, ‘You shall not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life; (1Mo 2,17; 1Mo 5,29; Pred 2,22; Röm 8,20) 18 thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field. 19 By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” (1Mo 2,7; Hi 34,15; Ps 103,14; Ps 104,29; Pred 3,20; Pred 12,7; Röm 5,12) 20 The man called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living.[7] 21 And the Lord God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them. 22 Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever—” (1Mo 2,9; 1Mo 3,5) 23 therefore the Lord God sent him out from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken. (1Mo 2,5) 24 He drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life. Она дала плод и мужу, который был с ней, и он ел его. 7 Их глаза открылись, и они поняли, что наги; тогда они сшили себе повязки из листьев инжира. 8 Подул ветерок[1], и они услышали, как Вечный Бог ходит по саду. Адам и его жена спрятались от Него среди деревьев сада, 9 но Вечный Бог воззвал к Адаму: – Где ты? 10 Адам ответил: – Я услышал Тебя в саду и испугался, потому что я наг; вот я и спрятался. 11 И спросил Всевышний: – Кто сказал тебе, что ты наг? Ты ел плоды дерева, с которого Я запретил тебе есть? 12 Адам ответил: – Женщина, которую Ты дал мне, чтобы она была со мной, – это она дала мне плод с того дерева, и я съел его. 13 Тогда Вечный Бог сказал женщине: – Что же ты сделала? Женщина ответила: – Змей обманул меня, вот я и ела. 14 Тогда Вечный Бог сказал змею: – За то, что ты сделал это, проклят ты больше любого скота и всех диких зверей! Ты будешь ползать на брюхе, ты будешь есть прах во все дни твоей жизни. 15 Я положу вражду между тобой и женщиной и между твоим потомком и её Потомком[2]: Он будет поражать тебя в голову, а ты будешь жалить Его в пяту[3]. (Gal 4,4; 1Joh 3,8) 16 А женщине Он сказал: – Я мучительной сделаю беременность твою: в страдании ты будешь рожать детей. Ты будешь желать мужа, и он[4] будет властвовать над тобою. 17 Адаму же Он сказал: – Так как ты послушался жены и съел плод с дерева, о котором Я повелел, чтобы ты не ел от него, проклята из-за тебя земля: в тяжком труде ты будешь питаться от неё во все дни твоей жизни. 18 Она произрастит тебе колючки и сорняки, ты будешь питаться полевыми злаками. 19 В поте лица своего ты будешь есть свой хлеб, пока не вернёшься в землю, из которой был взят, потому что ты – прах, и в прах ты вернёшься. 20 Адам назвал свою жену Ева («жизнь»), потому что она стала матерью всех живущих. 21 Вечный Бог сделал одежды из кожи и одел в них Адама и его жену. 22 Потом Вечный Бог сказал: – Познав добро и зло, человек стал теперь как один из Нас. Нельзя, чтобы он протянул руку, и, сорвав плод также и с дерева жизни, съел его, и стал жить вечно[5]. 23 И Вечный Бог изгнал его из сада Эдем, чтобы он трудился на земле, из которой был взят. 24 Изгнав человека, Он поставил к востоку от сада Эдем херувимов[6] и вращающийся пламенный меч, чтобы стеречь путь к дереву жизни.
