Von Asaf.2Freut euch über Gott, unsere Stärke! / Jubelt dem Gott Jakobs zu!3Stimmt den Lobgesang an, und lasst das Tamburin hören, / die liebliche Zither und die Harfe dazu!4Stoßt am Neumond ins Horn, / am Vollmond und zum Tag unseres Festes!5Denn das ist für Israel Vorschrift, / eine Verordnung von Jakobs Gott.6Diese Regel gab er Josefs Volk, / als er gegen Ägypten kämpfte.
Nun höre ich eine Sprache, die ich nicht kenne:7Ich habe seine Schulter von der Last befreit, / seine Hände vom Tragkorb gelöst.8Du riefst in deiner Not und ich befreite dich, / ich antwortete dir im Donnergewölk.[1] / Am Wasser von Meriba[2] prüfte ich dich. ♪9Hör, mein Volk, ich muss dich warnen! / Wenn du doch hören würdest, Israel!10Es soll kein anderer Gott bei dir sein, / bete niemals einen fremden Gott an!11Ich bin Jahwe, dein Gott. / Ich habe dich aus dem Land Ägypten befreit. / Öffne deinen Mund weit, dass ich ihn füllen kann.12Aber mein Volk hat nicht auf mich gehört, / Israel wollte mich nicht.13Da überließ ich sie ihrer Starrköpfigkeit, / und sie folgten ihrem eigenen Rat.14Wenn mein Volk doch auf mich hörte! / Wenn Israel doch auf meinen Wegen blieb!15Wie bald würde ich ihre Feinde bezwingen, / und ihre Bedränger spürten meine Macht.16Die Jahwe hassen, müssten ihm schmeicheln, / und ihre Zeit wäre für immer vorbei.17Doch euch würde ich nähren mit dem besten Korn, / ja mit Honig aus dem Felsen machte ich euch satt.
