1 Grande é o SENHOR, e digno de todo louvor na cidade do nosso Deus. 2 Seu santo monte, belo e majestoso, é a alegria de toda a terra. Como as alturas do Zafom[1] é o monte Sião, a cidade do grande Rei. 3 Nas suas cidadelas Deus se revela como sua proteção. 4 Vejam! Os reis somaram forças, e juntos avançaram contra ela. 5 Quando a viram, ficaram atônitos, fugiram aterrorizados. 6 Ali mesmo o pavor os dominou; contorceram-se como a mulher no parto. 7 Foste como o vento oriental quando destruiu os navios de Társis. 8 Como já temos ouvido, agora também temos visto na cidade do SENHOR dos Exércitos, na cidade de nosso Deus: Deus a preserva firme para sempre. Pausa 9 No teu templo, ó Deus, meditamos em teu amor leal. 10 Como o teu nome, ó Deus, o teu louvor alcança os confins da terra; a tua mão direita está cheia de justiça. 11 O monte Sião se alegra, as cidades[2] de Judá exultam por causa das tuas decisões justas. 12 Percorram Sião, contornando-a, contem as suas torres, 13 observem bem as suas muralhas, examinem as suas cidadelas, para que vocês falem à próxima geração 14 que este Deus é o nosso Deus para todo o sempre; ele será o nosso guia até o fim[3].

1 A Song. A Psalm of the Sons of Korah. Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised in the city of our God! His holy mountain, (Sl 2:6; Sl 42:1; Sl 46:1; Sl 46:4; Sl 87:1; Sl 96:4; Sl 145:3; Is 2:3; Mq 4:1; Zc 8:3) 2 beautiful in elevation, is the joy of all the earth, Mount Zion, in the far north, the city of the great King. (Sl 50:2; Lm 2:15; Ez 20:6; Mt 5:35) 3 Within her citadels God has made himself known as a fortress. 4 For behold, the kings assembled; they came on together. (2 Sm 10:6) 5 As soon as they saw it, they were astounded; they were in panic; they took to flight. 6 Trembling took hold of them there, anguish as of a woman in labor. (Ex 15:15; Is 13:8; Os 13:13) 7 By the east wind you shattered the ships of Tarshish. (1 Rs 10:22; 1 Rs 22:48; Jr 18:17; Ez 27:26) 8 As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God, which God will establish forever. (Sl 48:1; Sl 87:5; Is 2:2; Mq 4:1) 9 We have thought on your steadfast love, O God, in the midst of your temple. (Sl 26:3; Sl 40:10) 10 As your name, O God, so your praise reaches to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is filled with righteousness. (Ex 34:5; Dt 28:58; Sl 22:27; Sl 113:3; Ml 1:11; Ml 1:14) 11 Let Mount Zion be glad! Let the daughters of Judah rejoice because of your judgments! (Sl 97:8) 12 Walk about Zion, go around her, number her towers, 13 consider well her ramparts, go through her citadels, that you may tell the next generation (Sl 78:4; Sl 122:7) 14 that this is God, our God forever and ever. He will guide us forever.[1] (Sl 23:3)
