1 Por que se amotinam[1] as nações e os povos tramam em vão? 2 Os reis da terra tomam posição e os governantes conspiram unidos contra o SENHOR e contra o seu ungido, e dizem: 3 “Façamos em pedaços as suas correntes, lancemos de nós as suas algemas!” 4 Do seu trono nos céus o Senhor põe-se a rir e caçoa deles. 5 Em sua ira os repreende e em seu furor os aterroriza, dizendo: 6 “Eu mesmo estabeleci o meu rei em Sião, no meu santo monte”. 7 Proclamarei o decreto do SENHOR: Ele me disse: “Tu és meu filho; eu hoje te gerei. 8 Pede-me, e te darei as nações como herança e os confins da terra como tua propriedade. 9 Tu as quebrarás com vara de ferro[2] e as despedaçarás como a um vaso de barro”. 10 Por isso, ó reis, sejam prudentes; aceitem a advertência, autoridades da terra. 11 Adorem o SENHOR com temor; exultem com tremor. 12 Beijem o filho,[3] para que ele não se ire e vocês não sejam destruídos de repente, pois num instante acende-se a sua ira. Como são felizes todos os que nele se refugiam!

1 Why do the nations rage[1] and the peoples plot in vain? (Sl 46:6; At 4:25) 2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying, (Sl 18:50; Sl 20:6; Sl 45:7; Sl 89:20) 3 “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.” (Jr 5:5) 4 He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision. (Jó 22:19; Sl 11:4; Sl 29:10; Sl 37:13; Sl 59:8; Pv 1:26; Is 40:22) 5 Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying, (Ap 6:16) 6 “As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill.” (2 Sm 5:7; Sl 3:4; Sl 15:1; Sl 43:3; Sl 99:9; Sl 110:2; Pv 8:23) 7 I will tell of the decree: The Lord said to me, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you.
