1 Miriã e Arão começaram a criticar Moisés porque ele havia se casado com uma mulher etíope[1]. 2 “Será que o SENHOR tem falado apenas por meio de Moisés?”, perguntaram. “Também não tem ele falado por meio de nós?” E o SENHOR ouviu isso. 3 Ora, Moisés era um homem muito paciente, mais do que qualquer outro que havia na terra. 4 Imediatamente o SENHOR disse a Moisés, a Arão e a Miriã: “Dirijam-se à Tenda do Encontro, vocês três”. E os três foram para lá. 5 Então o SENHOR desceu numa coluna de nuvem e, pondo-se à entrada da Tenda, chamou Arão e Miriã. Os dois vieram à frente, 6 e ele disse: “Ouçam as minhas palavras: Quando entre vocês há um profeta do SENHOR[2], a ele me revelo em visões, em sonhos falo com ele. 7 Não é assim, porém, com meu servo Moisés, que é fiel em toda a minha casa[3]. 8 Com ele falo face a face, claramente, e não por enigmas; e ele vê a forma do SENHOR. Por que não temeram criticar meu servo Moisés?” 9 Então a ira do SENHOR acendeu-se contra eles, e ele os deixou. 10 Quando a nuvem se afastou da Tenda, Miriã estava leprosa[4]; sua aparência era como a da neve. Arão voltou-se para Miriã, viu que ela estava com lepra 11 e disse a Moisés: “Por favor, meu senhor, não nos castigue pelo pecado que tão tolamente cometemos. 12 Não permita que ela fique como um feto abortado que sai do ventre de sua mãe com a metade do corpo destruída”. 13 Então Moisés clamou ao SENHOR: “Ó Deus, por misericórdia, concede-lhe cura!” 14 O SENHOR respondeu a Moisés: “Se o pai dela lhe tivesse cuspido no rosto, não estaria ela envergonhada sete dias? Que fique isolada fora do acampamento sete dias; depois ela poderá ser trazida de volta”. 15 Então Miriã ficou isolada sete dias fora do acampamento, e o povo não partiu enquanto ela não foi trazida de volta. 16 Depois disso, partiram de Hazerote e acamparam no deserto de Parã.

1 Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had married, for he had married a Cushite woman. 2 And they said, “Has the LORD indeed spoken only through Moses? Has he not spoken through us also?” And the LORD heard it. (Nm 11:1; 2 Rs 19:4; Is 37:4; Ez 35:12; Ez 35:13; Mq 6:4; Ml 3:16) 3 Now the man Moses was very meek, more than all people who were on the face of the earth. 4 And suddenly the LORD said to Moses and to Aaron and Miriam, “Come out, you three, to the tent of meeting.” And the three of them came out. 5 And the LORD came down in a pillar of cloud and stood at the entrance of the tent and called Aaron and Miriam, and they both came forward. (Nm 11:25; Nm 16:19) 6 And he said, “Hear my words: If there is a prophet among you, I the LORD make myself known to him in a vision; I speak with him in a dream. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?” (Ex 33:11; Ex 33:20; Ex 33:23; Nm 7:89; Dt 34:10; Sl 49:4; Sl 78:2; Pv 1:6; 1 Co 13:12) 9 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them, and he departed. 10 When the cloud removed from over the tent, behold, Miriam was leprous,[1] like snow. And Aaron turned toward Miriam, and behold, she was leprous. (Lv 13:10; Dt 24:9) 11 And Aaron said to Moses, “Oh, my lord, do not punish us[2] because we have done foolishly and have sinned. (2 Sm 19:19; 2 Sm 24:10; Pv 30:32) 12 Let her not be as one dead, whose flesh is half eaten away when he comes out of his mother’s womb.” 13 And Moses cried to the LORD, “O God, please heal her—please.” 14 But the LORD said to Moses, “If her father had but spit in her face, should she not be shamed seven days? Let her be shut outside the camp seven days, and after that she may be brought in again.” (Lv 13:46; Dt 25:9; Jó 30:10) 15 So Miriam was shut outside the camp seven days, and the people did not set out on the march till Miriam was brought in again. (2 Rs 15:5; 2 Cr 26:20; 2 Cr 26:21; Lc 17:12) 16 After that the people set out from Hazeroth, and camped in the wilderness of Paran. (Nm 10:12; Nm 11:35; Nm 33:18)
