1Todos os publicanos e pecadores estavam se reunindo para ouvi-lo.2Mas os fariseus e os mestres da lei o criticavam: “Este homem recebe pecadores e come com eles”.3Então Jesus lhes contou esta parábola:4“Qual de vocês que, possuindo cem ovelhas, e perdendo uma, não deixa as noventa e nove no campo e vai atrás da ovelha perdida, até encontrá-la?5E quando a encontra, coloca-a alegremente nos ombros6e vai para casa. Ao chegar, reúne seus amigos e vizinhos e diz: ‘Alegrem-se comigo, pois encontrei minha ovelha perdida’.7Eu digo que, da mesma forma, haverá mais alegria no céu por um pecador que se arrepende do que por noventa e nove justos que não precisam arrepender-se.
A Parábola da Moeda Perdida
8“Ou, qual é a mulher que, possuindo dez dracmas[1] e, perdendo uma delas, não acende uma candeia, varre a casa e procura atentamente, até encontrá-la?9E quando a encontra, reúne suas amigas e vizinhas e diz: ‘Alegrem-se comigo, pois encontrei minha moeda perdida’.10Eu digo que, da mesma forma, há alegria na presença dos anjos de Deus por um pecador que se arrepende”.
A Parábola do Filho Perdido
11Jesus continuou: “Um homem tinha dois filhos.12O mais novo disse ao seu pai: ‘Pai, quero a minha parte da herança’. Assim, ele repartiu sua propriedade entre eles.13“Não muito tempo depois, o filho mais novo reuniu tudo o que tinha e foi para uma região distante; e lá desperdiçou os seus bens vivendo irresponsavelmente.14Depois de ter gasto tudo, houve uma grande fome em toda aquela região, e ele começou a passar necessidade.15Por isso foi empregar-se com um dos cidadãos daquela região, que o mandou para o seu campo a fim de cuidar de porcos.16Ele desejava encher o estômago com as vagens de alfarrobeira que os porcos comiam, mas ninguém lhe dava nada.17“Caindo em si, ele disse: ‘Quantos empregados de meu pai têm comida de sobra, e eu aqui, morrendo de fome!18Eu me porei a caminho e voltarei para meu pai e lhe direi: Pai, pequei contra o céu e contra ti.19Não sou mais digno de ser chamado teu filho; trata-me como um dos teus empregados’.20A seguir, levantou-se e foi para seu pai. “Estando ainda longe, seu pai o viu e, cheio de compaixão, correu para seu filho, e o abraçou e beijou.21“O filho lhe disse: ‘Pai, pequei contra o céu e contra ti. Não sou mais digno de ser chamado teu filho[2]’.22“Mas o pai disse aos seus servos: ‘Depressa! Tragam a melhor roupa e vistam nele. Coloquem um anel em seu dedo e calçados em seus pés.23Tragam o novilho gordo e matem-no. Vamos fazer uma festa e alegrar-nos.24Pois este meu filho estava morto e voltou à vida; estava perdido e foi achado’. E começaram a festejar o seu regresso.25“Enquanto isso, o filho mais velho estava no campo. Quando se aproximou da casa, ouviu a música e a dança.26Então chamou um dos servos e perguntou-lhe o que estava acontecendo.27Este lhe respondeu: ‘Seu irmão voltou, e seu pai matou o novilho gordo, porque o recebeu de volta são e salvo’.28“O filho mais velho encheu-se de ira e não quis entrar. Então seu pai saiu e insistiu com ele.29Mas ele respondeu ao seu pai: ‘Olha! todos esses anos tenho trabalhado como um escravo ao teu serviço e nunca desobedeci às tuas ordens. Mas tu nunca me deste nem um cabrito para eu festejar com os meus amigos.30Mas quando volta para casa esse teu filho, que esbanjou os teus bens com as prostitutas, matas o novilho gordo para ele!’31“Disse o pai: ‘Meu filho, você está sempre comigo, e tudo o que tenho é seu.32Mas nós tínhamos que celebrar a volta deste seu irmão e alegrar-nos, porque ele estava morto e voltou à vida, estava perdido e foi achado’ ”.

(Is 40:11; Is 49:22; Is 60:4; Is 66:12)6And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.’ (1 Pe 2:25)7Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance. The Parable of the Lost Coin
8“Or what woman, having ten silver coins,[1] if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and seek diligently until she finds it?9And when she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin that I had lost.’10Just so, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” (Lc 12:8)
The Parable of the Prodigal Son
11And he said, “There was a man who had two sons.12And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of property that is coming to me.’ And he divided his property between them. (Dt 21:17; Mc 12:44; Lc 15:30)13Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took a journey into a far country, and there he squandered his property in reckless living. (Ef 5:18; Tt 1:6; 1 Pe 4:4)14And when he had spent everything, a severe famine arose in that country, and he began to be in need.15So he went and hired himself out to[2] one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs.16And he was longing to be fed with the pods that the pigs ate, and no one gave him anything. (Lc 16:21)17“But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger! (1 Rs 8:47; At 12:11)18I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. (Ex 10:16; Mt 21:25; Jo 3:27)19I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.”’ (Lc 7:6)20And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. His father came out and entreated him,29but he answered his father, ‘Look, these many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed your command, yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might celebrate with my friends. (Lc 15:23)30But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!’ (Pv 29:3; Lc 15:12)31And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. (Jo 8:35)32It was fitting to celebrate and be glad, for this your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and is found.’” (Lc 15:24; Lc 15:29)
