1Naquela ocasião, alguns dos que estavam presentes contaram a Jesus que Pilatos misturara o sangue de alguns galileus com os sacrifícios deles.2Jesus respondeu: “Vocês pensam que esses galileus eram mais pecadores que todos os outros, por terem sofrido dessa maneira?3Eu digo que não! Mas, se não se arrependerem, todos vocês também perecerão.4Ou vocês pensam que aqueles dezoito que morreram, quando caiu sobre eles a torre de Siloé, eram mais culpados do que todos os outros habitantes de Jerusalém?5Eu digo que não! Mas se não se arrependerem, todos vocês também perecerão”.6Então contou esta parábola: “Um homem tinha uma figueira plantada em sua vinha. Foi procurar fruto nela, e não achou nenhum.7Por isso disse ao que cuidava da vinha: ‘Já faz três anos que venho procurar fruto nesta figueira e não acho. Corte-a! Por que deixá-la inutilizar a terra?’8“Respondeu o homem: ‘Senhor, deixe-a por mais um ano, e eu cavarei ao redor dela e a adubarei.9Se der fruto no ano que vem, muito bem! Se não, corte-a’ ”.
Uma Mulher Curada no Sábado
10Certo sábado Jesus estava ensinando numa das sinagogas,11e ali estava uma mulher que tinha um espírito que a mantinha doente havia dezoito anos. Ela andava encurvada e de forma alguma podia endireitar-se.12Ao vê-la, Jesus chamou-a à frente e lhe disse: “Mulher, você está livre da sua doença”.13Então lhe impôs as mãos; e imediatamente ela se endireitou e passou a louvar a Deus.14Indignado porque Jesus havia curado no sábado, o dirigente da sinagoga disse ao povo: “Há seis dias em que se deve trabalhar. Venham para ser curados nesses dias, e não no sábado”.15O Senhor lhe respondeu: “Hipócritas! Cada um de vocês não desamarra no sábado o seu boi ou jumento do estábulo e o leva dali para dar-lhe água?16Então, esta mulher, uma filha de Abraão a quem Satanás mantinha presa por dezoito longos anos, não deveria no dia de sábado ser libertada daquilo que a prendia?”17Tendo dito isso, todos os seus oponentes ficaram envergonhados, mas o povo se alegrava com todas as maravilhas que ele estava fazendo.
As Parábolas do Grão de Mostarda e do Fermento
18Então Jesus perguntou: “Com que se parece o Reino de Deus? Com que o compararei?19É como um grão de mostarda que um homem semeou em sua horta. Ele cresceu e se tornou uma árvore, e as aves do céu fizeram ninhos em seus ramos”.20Mais uma vez ele perguntou: “Com que compararei o Reino de Deus?21É como o fermento que uma mulher misturou com uma grande quantidade[1] de farinha, e toda a massa ficou fermentada”.
A Porta Estreita
22Depois Jesus foi pelas cidades e povoados e ensinava, prosseguindo em direção a Jerusalém.23Alguém lhe perguntou: “Senhor, serão poucos os salvos?” Ele lhes disse:24“Esforcem-se para entrar pela porta estreita, porque eu digo a vocês que muitos tentarão entrar e não conseguirão.25Quando o dono da casa se levantar e fechar a porta, vocês ficarão do lado de fora, batendo e pedindo: ‘Senhor, abre-nos a porta’. “Ele, porém, responderá: ‘Não os conheço, nem sei de onde são vocês’.26“Então vocês dirão: ‘Comemos e bebemos contigo, e ensinaste em nossas ruas’.27“Mas ele responderá: ‘Não os conheço, nem sei de onde são vocês. Afastem-se de mim, todos vocês, que praticam o mal!’28“Ali haverá choro e ranger de dentes, quando vocês virem Abraão, Isaque e Jacó e todos os profetas no Reino de Deus, mas vocês excluídos.29Pessoas virão do oriente e do ocidente, do norte e do sul, e ocuparão os seus lugares à mesa no Reino de Deus.30De fato, há últimos que serão primeiros e primeiros que serão últimos”.
O Lamento Profético sobre Jerusalém
31Naquela mesma hora, alguns fariseus aproximaram-se de Jesus e lhe disseram: “Saia e vá embora daqui, pois Herodes quer matá-lo”.32Ele respondeu: “Vão dizer àquela raposa: Expulsarei demônios e curarei o povo hoje e amanhã e no terceiro dia estarei pronto.33Mas preciso prosseguir hoje, amanhã e depois de amanhã, pois certamente nenhum profeta deve morrer fora de Jerusalém!34“Jerusalém, Jerusalém, você, que mata os profetas e apedreja os que são enviados a você! Quantas vezes eu quis reunir os seus filhos, como a galinha reúne os seus pintinhos debaixo das suas asas, mas vocês não quiseram!35Eis que a casa de vocês ficará deserta. Eu digo que vocês não me verão mais até que digam: ‘Bendito o que vem em nome do Senhor’ ”.

The Parable of the Barren Fig Tree
6And he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none. (Is 5:2; Mt 21:19; Mc 11:13)7And he said to the vinedresser, ‘Look, for three years now I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and I find none. Cut it down. Why should it use up the ground?’ (Mt 7:19; Lc 3:9)8And he answered him, ‘Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and put on manure.9Then if it should bear fruit next year, well and good; but if not, you can cut it down.’”
A Woman with a Disabling Spirit
10Now he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. (Mt 4:23; Mc 6:2)11And behold, there was a woman who had had a disabling spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not fully straighten herself. (Lc 13:16; At 16:16)12When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said to her, “Woman, you are freed from your disability.”13And he laid his hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and she glorified God. (Mc 5:23; Lc 5:25; Lc 7:16; Lc 18:43)14But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the people, “There are six days in which work ought to be done. Come on those days and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day.” (Ex 20:9; Ez 46:1; Mt 12:2; Lc 8:41)15Then the Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger and lead it away to water it? (Mt 12:11; Lc 14:5)16And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?” (1 Cr 21:1; Lc 13:11; Lc 19:9; At 10:38; 1 Co 5:5; 2 Co 12:7)17As he said these things, all his adversaries were put to shame, and all the people rejoiced at all the glorious things that were done by him. (Sl 132:18; Lc 18:43; 1 Pe 3:16)
The Mustard Seed and the Leaven
18He said therefore, “What is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I compare it? (Mt 13:31; Mc 4:30)19It is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his garden, and it grew and became a tree, and the birds of the air made nests in its branches.” (Mt 17:20; Lc 17:6)20And again he said, “To what shall I compare the kingdom of God?21It is like leaven that a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, until it was all leavened.” (Gn 18:6; Mt 13:33; 1 Co 5:6; Gl 5:9)
The Narrow Door
22He went on his way through towns and villages, teaching and journeying toward Jerusalem. (Mc 6:6; Lc 9:51; Lc 13:33)23And someone said to him, “Lord, will those who are saved be few?” And he said to them, (At 2:47; 1 Co 1:18; 2 Co 2:15)24“Strive to enter through the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able. (Mt 7:13; 1 Co 9:25; 1 Tm 4:10; 1 Tm 6:12; Hb 12:4)25When once the master of the house has risen and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, open to us,’ then he will answer you, ‘I do not know where you come from.’ (Mt 7:22; Mt 10:33; Mt 25:10; Mt 25:12; 2 Tm 2:19)26Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.’ (Ex 24:11)27But he will say, ‘I tell you, I do not know where you come from. Depart from me, all you workers of evil!’ (Sl 6:8; Lc 13:25)28In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God but you yourselves cast out. (Mt 8:11)29And people will come from east and west, and from north and south, and recline at table in the kingdom of God. (Lc 13:28; Lc 14:15; Lc 22:30)30And behold, some are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last.” (Mt 19:30)
Lament over Jerusalem
31At that very hour some Pharisees came and said to him, “Get away from here, for Herod wants to kill you.” (Mt 19:1; Mc 10:1; Lc 3:1)32And he said to them, “Go and tell that fox, ‘Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I finish my course. (Hb 2:10; Hb 5:9; Hb 7:28)33Nevertheless, I must go on my way today and tomorrow and the day following, for it cannot be that a prophet should perish away from Jerusalem.’ (Mt 21:11; Jo 11:9; At 3:21; At 17:3)34O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing! (Dt 32:11; Rt 2:12; Sl 147:2; Pv 1:24; Mt 21:35; Mt 23:37; Mt 26:55; Lc 19:41; Lc 23:28; Jo 5:40)35Behold, your house is forsaken. And I tell you, you will not see me until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’” (Sl 118:26; Is 64:11; Jr 12:7; Jr 22:5; Lc 19:38)
