1Advertência contra Tiro: Pranteiem, navios de Társis! Pois Tiro foi destruída e ficou sem nenhuma casa e sem porto. De Chipre[1] veio a você essa mensagem.2Fiquem calados, habitantes das regiões litorâneas, e vocês, mercadores de Sidom, enriquecidos pelos que atravessam o mar3e as grandes águas. O trigo de Sior e a colheita do Nilo eram a sua renda, e vocês se tornaram o suprimento das nações.4Envergonhe-se, Sidom, pois o mar, a fortaleza do mar, falou: “Não estive em trabalho de parto nem dei à luz; não criei filhos nem eduquei filhas”.5Quando a notícia chegar ao Egito, ficarão angustiados com as novidades de Tiro.6Cruzem o mar para Társis; pranteiem, vocês, habitantes das regiões litorâneas.7É esta a cidade jubilosa que existe desde tempos muito antigos, cujos pés a levaram a conquistar terras distantes?8Quem planejou isso contra Tiro, contra aquela que dava coroas, cujos comerciantes são príncipes, cujos negociantes são famosos em toda a terra?9O SENHOR dos Exércitos o planejou para abater todo orgulho e vaidade e humilhar todos os que têm fama na terra.10Cultive[2] a sua terra como se cultivam as margens do Nilo, ó povo[3] de Társis, pois você não tem mais porto.11O SENHOR estendeu a mão sobre o mar e fez tremer seus reinos. Acerca da Fenícia[4] ordenou que as suas fortalezas sejam destruídas,12e disse: “Você não se alegrará mais, ó cidade de Sidom, virgem derrotada! “Levante-se, atravesse o mar até Chipre; nem lá você terá descanso”.13Olhem para a terra dos babilônios[5]; esse é o povo que não existe mais! Os assírios a deixaram para as criaturas do deserto; ergueram torres de vigia, despojaram suas cidadelas e fizeram dela uma ruína.14Pranteiem, vocês, navios de Társis; destruída está a sua fortaleza!15Naquele tempo, Tiro será esquecida por setenta anos, o tempo da vida de um rei. Mas, no fim dos setenta anos, acontecerá com Tiro o que diz a canção da prostituta:16“Pegue a harpa, vá pela cidade, ó prostituta esquecida; toque a harpa, cante muitas canções, para se lembrarem de você”.17No fim dos setenta anos o SENHOR se lembrará de Tiro. Esta voltará ao seu ofício de prostituta e servirá a todos os reinos que há na face da terra.18Mas o seu lucro e a sua renda serão separados para o SENHOR; não serão guardados nem depositados. Seus lucros irão para os que vivem na presença do SENHOR, para que tenham bastante comida e roupas finas.

(Gn 10:4; 1 Rs 10:22; 1 Rs 22:48; Is 13:1; Is 23:14; Is 24:10; Jr 2:10; Jr 25:22; Jr 27:2; Ez 26:2; Jl 3:4; Am 1:9; Zc 9:2)2Be still, O inhabitants of the coast; the merchants of Sidon, who cross the sea, have filled you. (Gn 10:15; Js 19:28; Is 23:4; Is 23:12; Jr 25:22; Jr 27:3; Ez 27:8; Ez 32:30; Jl 3:4; Zc 9:2)3And on many waters your revenue was the grain of Shihor, the harvest of the Nile; you were the merchant of the nations. (Ez 27:3)4Be ashamed, O Sidon, for the sea has spoken, the stronghold of the sea, saying: “I have neither labored nor given birth, I have neither reared young men nor brought up young women.” (Is 23:2)5When the report comes to Egypt, they will be in anguish[2] over the report about Tyre.6Cross over to Tarshish; wail, O inhabitants of the coast! (Is 23:12)7Is this your exultant city whose origin is from days of old, whose feet carried her to settle far away? (Gn 10:15)8Who has purposed this against Tyre, the bestower of crowns, whose merchants were princes, whose traders were the honored of the earth?9The Lord of hosts has purposed it, to defile the pompous pride of all glory,[3] to dishonor all the honored of the earth. (Ez 28:7)10Cross over your land like the Nile, O daughter of Tarshish; there is no restraint anymore.11He has stretched out his hand over the sea; he has shaken the kingdoms; the Lord has given command concerning Canaan to destroy its strongholds. (Ex 14:21)12And he said: “You will no more exult, O oppressed virgin daughter of Sidon; arise, cross over to Cyprus, even there you will have no rest.” (Is 23:1; Is 23:2; Is 23:6)13Behold the land of the Chaldeans! This is the people that was not;[4] Assyria destined it for wild beasts. They erected their siege towers, they stripped her palaces bare, they made her a ruin. (2 Rs 25:1; Is 47:1; Is 48:14)14Wail, O ships of Tarshish, for your stronghold is laid waste. (Is 23:1)15In that day Tyre will be forgotten for seventy years, like the days[5] of one king. At the end of seventy years, it will happen to Tyre as in the song of the prostitute: (Jr 25:11; Jr 25:22)16“Take a harp; go about the city, O forgotten prostitute! Make sweet melody; sing many songs, that you may be remembered.”17At the end of seventy years, the Lord will visit Tyre, and she will return to her wages and will prostitute herself with all the kingdoms of the world on the face of the earth. (Jr 25:11; Jr 25:22; Ap 17:1)18Her merchandise and her wages will be holy to the Lord. It will not be stored or hoarded, but her merchandise will supply abundant food and fine clothing for those who dwell before the Lord.
