1Advertência contra o Egito: Vejam! O SENHOR cavalga numa nuvem veloz que vai para o Egito. Os ídolos do Egito tremem diante dele, e os corações dos egípcios se derretem no íntimo.2“Incitarei egípcio contra egípcio; cada um lutará contra seu irmão, vizinho lutará contra vizinho, cidade contra cidade, reino contra reino.3Os egípcios ficarão desanimados, e farei que os seus planos resultem em nada. Depois eles consultarão os ídolos e os necromantes, os médiuns e os adivinhos,4então eu entregarei os egípcios nas mãos de um senhor cruel, e um rei feroz dominará sobre eles”, anuncia o Soberano, o SENHOR dos Exércitos.5As águas do rio vão secar-se; o leito do rio ficará completamente seco.6Os canais terão mau cheiro; os riachos do Egito vão diminuir até secar-se; os juncos e as canas murcharão.7Haverá lugares secos ao longo do Nilo e na própria foz do rio. Tudo o que for semeado ao longo do Nilo se ressecará, será levado pelo vento e desaparecerá.8Os pescadores gemerão e se lamentarão, como também todos os que lançam anzóis no Nilo; os que lançam redes na água desanimarão.9Os que trabalham com linho e os tecelões de algodão se desesperarão.10Os nobres ficarão deprimidos, e todos os assalariados ficarão abatidos.11Os líderes de Zoã não passam de insensatos; os sábios conselheiros do faraó dão conselhos tolos. Como, então, vocês podem dizer ao faraó: “Sou sábio, sou discípulo dos reis da antiguidade”?12Onde estão agora os seus sábios? Que mostrem a vocês, se é que eles têm conhecimento do que o SENHOR dos Exércitos tem planejado contra o Egito.13Tornaram-se tolos os líderes de Zoã, e os de Mênfis são enganados; os chefes dos seus clãs induziram o Egito ao erro.14O SENHOR derramou dentro deles um espírito que os deixou desorientados; eles levam o Egito a cambalear em tudo quanto faz, como cambaleia o bêbado em volta do seu vômito.15Não há nada que o Egito possa fazer, nada que a cabeça ou a cauda, a palma ou o junco possam fazer.16Naquele dia, os egípcios serão como mulheres. Tremerão de medo diante do agitar da mão do SENHOR dos Exércitos, que se levantará contra eles.17Judá trará pavor aos egípcios; todo aquele que mencionar o nome de Judá ficará apavorado, por causa do plano do SENHOR dos Exércitos contra eles.18Naquele dia, cinco cidades do Egito falarão a língua de Canaã e jurarão lealdade ao SENHOR dos Exércitos. Uma delas será chamada Cidade do Sol[1].19Naquele dia, haverá um altar dedicado ao SENHOR no centro do Egito e, em sua fronteira, um monumento ao SENHOR.20Serão um sinal e um testemunho para o SENHOR dos Exércitos na terra do Egito. Quando eles clamarem ao SENHOR por causa dos seus opressores, ele lhes enviará um salvador e defensor que os libertará.21Assim o SENHOR se dará a conhecer aos egípcios; e, naquele dia, eles saberão quem é o SENHOR. A ele prestarão culto com sacrifícios e ofertas de cereal; farão votos ao SENHOR e os cumprirão.22O SENHOR ferirá os egípcios; ele os ferirá e os curará. Eles se voltarão para o SENHOR, e ele responderá às suas súplicas e os curará.23Naquele dia, haverá uma estrada do Egito para a Assíria. Os assírios irão para o Egito, e os egípcios para a Assíria, e os egípcios e os assírios cultuarão juntos.24Naquele dia, Israel será um mediador entre o Egito e a Assíria, uma bênção na terra.25O SENHOR dos Exércitos os abençoará, dizendo: “Bendito sejam o Egito, meu povo, a Assíria, obra de minhas mãos, e Israel, minha herança”.
1An oracle concerning Egypt. Behold, the Lord is riding on a swift cloud and comes to Egypt; and the idols of Egypt will tremble at his presence, and the heart of the Egyptians will melt within them. (Ex 12:12; Js 2:11; 1 Sm 5:3; Sl 18:10; Sl 104:3; Is 13:1; Is 13:7; Jr 43:12; Jr 46:13; Jr 50:2; Ez 29:1; Ez 31:18; Jl 3:19; Mt 26:64; Ap 1:7)2And I will stir up Egyptians against Egyptians, and they will fight, each against another and each against his neighbor, city against city, kingdom against kingdom; (Jz 7:22)3and the spirit of the Egyptians within them will be emptied out, and I will confound[1] their counsel; and they will inquire of the idols and the sorcerers, and the mediums and the necromancers; (Is 8:19; Is 19:11)4and I will give over the Egyptians into the hand of a hard master, and a fierce king will rule over them, declares the Lord God of hosts. (Is 20:4; Jr 46:26; Ez 29:19)5And the waters of the sea will be dried up, and the river will be dry and parched,6and its canals will become foul, and the branches of Egypt’s Nile will diminish and dry up, reeds and rushes will rot away.7There will be bare places by the Nile, on the brink of the Nile, and all that is sown by the Nile will be parched, will be driven away, and will be no more.8The fishermen will mourn and lament, all who cast a hook in the Nile; and they will languish who spread nets on the water. (Nm 11:5)9The workers in combed flax will be in despair, and the weavers of white cotton. (Ez 27:7)10Those who are the pillars of the land will be crushed, and all who work for pay will be grieved. (Jr 46:21; Gl 2:9)11The princes of Zoan are utterly foolish; the wisest counselors of Pharaoh give stupid counsel. How can you say to Pharaoh, “I am a son of the wise, a son of ancient kings”? (Nm 13:22; Sl 78:43; Is 30:4)12Where then are your wise men? Let them tell you that they might know what the Lord of hosts has purposed against Egypt. (1 Rs 4:30; At 7:22)13The princes of Zoan have become fools, and the princes of Memphis are deluded; those who are the cornerstones of her tribes have made Egypt stagger. (Is 19:11; Jr 2:16; Jr 44:1; Jr 46:14; Jr 46:19; Ez 30:13; Ez 30:16; Zc 10:4)14The Lord has mingled within her a spirit of confusion, and they will make Egypt stagger in all its deeds, as a drunken man staggers in his vomit. (1 Rs 22:22; Is 24:20; Is 29:9)15And there will be nothing for Egypt that head or tail, palm branch or reed, may do. (Is 9:14)
Egypt, Assyria, Israel Blessed
16In that day the Egyptians will be like women, and tremble with fear before the hand that the Lord of hosts shakes over them. (Is 10:32; Jr 50:37; Jr 51:30; Na 3:13)17And the land of Judah will become a terror to the Egyptians. Everyone to whom it is mentioned will fear because of the purpose that the Lord of hosts has purposed against them.18In that day there will be five cities in the land of Egypt that speak the language of Canaan and swear allegiance to the Lord of hosts. One of these will be called the City of Destruction.[2] (2 Rs 7:13; Is 19:21; Is 30:17; Sf 3:9)19In that day there will be an altar to the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to the Lord at its border. (Gn 28:18; 2 Rs 5:17)20It will be a sign and a witness to the Lord of hosts in the land of Egypt. When they cry to the Lord because of oppressors, he will send them a savior and defender, and deliver them. (Is 19:19; Ob 1:21)21And the Lord will make himself known to the Egyptians, and the Egyptians will know the Lord in that day and worship with sacrifice and offering, and they will make vows to the Lord and perform them. (Is 2:2; Is 19:25; Zc 14:16)22And the Lord will strike Egypt, striking and healing, and they will return to the Lord, and he will listen to their pleas for mercy and heal them. (Jr 46:25)23In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria, and Assyria will come into Egypt, and Egypt into Assyria, and the Egyptians will worship with the Assyrians. (Is 11:16; Is 19:18; Is 19:21; Sf 3:9)24In that day Israel will be the third with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the earth, (Gn 12:2)25whom the Lord of hosts has blessed, saying, “Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel my inheritance.” (Dt 32:9; Is 29:23; Os 2:23)
