Den gracias al Señor, porque él es bueno; su gran amor perdura para siempre.2¿Quién puede proclamar las proezas del Señor, o expresar toda su alabanza?3Dichosos los que practican la justicia y hacen siempre lo que es justo.4Recuérdame, Señor, cuando te compadezcas de tu pueblo; ven en mi ayuda el día de tu salvación.5Hazme disfrutar del bienestar de tus escogidos, participar de la alegría de tu pueblo y expresar mis alabanzas con tu heredad.6Hemos pecado, lo mismo que nuestros padres; hemos hecho lo malo y actuado con iniquidad.7Cuando nuestros padres estaban en Egipto, no tomaron en cuenta tus maravillas; no tuvieron presente tu bondad infinita y se rebelaron junto al mar, el Mar Rojo.[1]8Pero Dios los salvó, haciendo honor a su nombre, para mostrar su gran poder.9Reprendió al Mar Rojo, y éste quedó seco; los condujo por las profundidades del mar como si cruzaran el desierto.10Los salvó del poder de sus enemigos, del poder de quienes los odiaban.11Las aguas envolvieron a sus adversarios, y ninguno de éstos quedó con vida.12Entonces ellos creyeron en sus promesas y le entonaron alabanzas.13Pero muy pronto olvidaron sus acciones y no esperaron a conocer sus planes.14En el desierto cedieron a sus propios deseos; en los páramos pusieron a prueba a Dios.15Y él les dio lo que pidieron, pero les envió una enfermedad devastadora.16En el campamento tuvieron envidia de Moisés y de Aarón, el que estaba consagrado al Señor.17Se abrió la tierra y se tragó a Datán; sepultó a los seguidores de Abirán.18Un fuego devoró a esa pandilla; las llamas consumieron a los impíos.19En Horeb hicieron un becerro; se postraron ante un ídolo de fundición.20Cambiaron al que era su motivo de orgullo[2] por la imagen de un toro que come hierba.21Se olvidaron del Dios que los salvó y que había hecho grandes cosas en Egipto:22milagros en la tierra de Cam y portentos junto al Mar Rojo.23Dios amenazó con destruirlos, pero no lo hizo por Moisés, su escogido, que se puso ante él en la brecha e impidió que su ira los destruyera.24Menospreciaron esa bella tierra; no creyeron en la promesa de Dios.25Refunfuñaron en sus tiendas de campaña y no obedecieron al Señor.26Por tanto, él levantó su mano contra ellos para hacerlos caer en el desierto,27para hacer caer a sus descendientes entre las naciones y dispersarlos por todos los países.28Se sometieron al yugo de Baal Peor y comieron de las ofrendas a ídolos sin vida.[3]29Provocaron al Señor con sus malvadas acciones, y les sobrevino una plaga.30Pero Finés se levantó e hizo justicia, y la plaga se detuvo.31Esto se le acreditó como un acto de justicia para siempre, por todas las generaciones.32Junto a las aguas de Meribá hicieron enojar al Señor, y a Moisés le fue mal por culpa de ellos,33pues lo sacaron de quicio y él habló sin pensar lo que decía.34No destruyeron a los pueblos que el Señor les había señalado,35sino que se mezclaron con los paganos y adoptaron sus costumbres.36Rindieron culto a sus ídolos, y se les volvieron una trampa.37Ofrecieron a sus hijos y a sus hijas como sacrificio a esos demonios.38Derramaron sangre inocente, la sangre de sus hijos y sus hijas. Al ofrecerlos en sacrificio a los ídolos de Canaán, su sangre derramada profanó la tierra.39Tales hechos los contaminaron; tales acciones los corrompieron.40La ira del Señor se encendió contra su pueblo; su heredad le resultó aborrecible.41Por eso los entregó a los paganos, y fueron dominados por quienes los odiaban.42Sus enemigos los oprimieron, los sometieron a su poder.43Muchas veces Dios los libró; pero ellos, empeñados en su rebeldía, se hundieron en la maldad.44Al verlos Dios angustiados, y al escuchar su clamor,45se acordó del pacto que había hecho con ellos y por su gran amor les tuvo compasión.46Hizo que todos sus opresores también se apiadaran de ellos.47Sálvanos, Señor, Dios nuestro; vuelve a reunirnos de entre las naciones, para que demos gracias a tu santo nombre y orgullosos te alabemos.48¡Bendito sea el Señor, el Dios de Israel, eternamente y para siempre! ¡Que todo el pueblo diga: «Amén»! ¡Aleluya! ¡Alabado sea el Señor!
1Praise the Lord! Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! (Sal 15:2)4Remember me, O Lord, when you show favor to your people; help me when you save them,[1] (Sal 119:132)5that I may look upon the prosperity of your chosen ones, that I may rejoice in the gladness of your nation, that I may glory with your inheritance. (Sal 105:6; Sal 105:43)6Both we and our fathers have sinned; we have committed iniquity; we have done wickedness. (Lv 26:40; 1 R 8:47; Esd 9:6; Neh 1:6; Neh 9:16; Sal 79:8; Jer 3:25; Jer 14:20; Dn 9:5)7Our fathers, when they were in Egypt, did not consider your wondrous works; they did not remember the abundance of your steadfast love, but rebelled by the sea, at the Red Sea. (Ex 14:11; Sal 106:13; Sal 106:21)8Yet he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make known his mighty power. (Ex 9:16; Ez 20:9; Ez 20:14)9He rebuked the Red Sea, and it became dry, and he led them through the deep as through a desert. (Ex 14:21; Sal 18:15; Sal 104:7; Is 50:2; Is 51:10; Is 63:13)10So he saved them from the hand of the foe and redeemed them from the power of the enemy. (Ex 14:30; Sal 107:2)11And the waters covered their adversaries; not one of them was left. (Ex 14:28; Ex 15:5)12Then they believed his words; they sang his praise. (Ex 14:31; Ex 15:1)13But they soon forgot his works; they did not wait for his counsel. (Ex 15:24; Ex 16:2; Ex 17:2; Sal 78:11; Sal 107:11)14But they had a wanton craving in the wilderness, and put God to the test in the desert; (Ex 17:2; Nm 11:4; Sal 78:18; 1 Co 10:6; 1 Co 10:9)15he gave them what they asked, but sent a wasting disease among them. (Sal 78:29; Is 10:16)16When men in the camp were jealous of Moses and Aaron, the holy one of the Lord, (Nm 16:1; Dt 33:2; Zac 14:5; Jud 1:14)17the earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram. (Nm 16:31; Dt 11:6)18Fire also broke out in their company; the flame burned up the wicked. (Nm 16:35)19They made a calf in Horeb and worshiped a metal image. (Ex 32:4; Dt 9:8; Hch 7:41)20They exchanged the glory of God[2] for the image of an ox that eats grass. (Jer 2:11; Ro 1:23)21They forgot God, their Savior, who had done great things in Egypt, (Dt 32:18; Sal 78:11; Sal 106:7; Sal 106:13)22wondrous works in the land of Ham, and awesome deeds by the Red Sea. (Sal 78:51; Sal 105:23; Sal 105:27)23Therefore he said he would destroy them— had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him, to turn away his wrath from destroying them. (Ex 32:10; Dt 9:14; Sal 105:6; Ez 20:8; Ez 22:30)24Then they despised the pleasant land, having no faith in his promise. (Nm 14:31; Dt 1:32; Dt 9:23; Zac 7:14)25They murmured in their tents, and did not obey the voice of the Lord. (Nm 14:2; Dt 1:27)26Therefore he raised his hand and swore to them that he would make them fall in the wilderness, (Ex 6:8; Nm 14:30; Dt 32:40; Sal 95:11; Ez 20:6; Ez 20:15; Ez 20:23)27and would make their offspring fall among the nations, scattering them among the lands. (Sal 44:11)28Then they yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor, and ate sacrifices offered to the dead; (Nm 25:3; Is 8:19; Os 9:10)29they provoked the Lord to anger with their deeds, and a plague broke out among them.30Then Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was stayed. (Nm 25:7)31And that was counted to him as righteousness from generation to generation forever. (Gn 15:6; Nm 25:10)32They angered him at the waters of Meribah, and it went ill with Moses on their account, (Nm 20:2; Dt 1:37)33for they made his spirit bitter,[3] and he spoke rashly with his lips. (Nm 20:10; Sal 78:40; Sal 107:11; Is 63:10)34They did not destroy the peoples, as the Lord commanded them, (Dt 7:2; Dt 7:16; Jue 1:21; Jue 1:27; Jue 2:2)35but they mixed with the nations and learned to do as they did. (Jue 3:5; Esd 9:2)36They served their idols, which became a snare to them. (Ex 23:33; Dt 7:16; Jue 2:3)37They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons; (Dt 32:17; 2 R 16:3; Is 57:5; Ez 16:20; Ez 20:26; 1 Co 10:20)38they poured out innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was polluted with blood. (Is 24:5)39Thus they became unclean by their acts, and played the whore in their deeds. (Sal 73:27; Ez 20:18; Ez 20:30)40Then the anger of the Lord was kindled against his people, and he abhorred his heritage; (Jue 2:14; Sal 28:9; Sal 78:59; Sal 78:62)41he gave them into the hand of the nations, so that those who hated them ruled over them. (Neh 9:27)42Their enemies oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their power. (Jue 4:3; Jue 10:12)43Many times he delivered them, but they were rebellious in their purposes and were brought low through their iniquity. (Lv 26:39; Jue 2:16; Sal 81:12)44Nevertheless, he looked upon their distress, when he heard their cry. (Jue 3:9; Jue 4:3; Jue 6:7; Jue 10:10)45For their sake he remembered his covenant, and relented according to the abundance of his steadfast love. (Lv 26:42; Sal 51:1; Sal 69:16; Sal 90:13; Sal 105:8; Sal 106:7; Is 63:7; Lm 3:32)46He caused them to be pitied by all those who held them captive. (1 R 8:50; 2 Cr 30:9; Esd 9:9; Neh 1:11; Jer 42:12)47Save us, O Lord our God, and gather us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise. (1 Cr 16:35; Sal 107:3)48Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! And let all the people say, “Amen!” Praise the Lord! (Sal 41:13; Sal 104:35)
