1Atunci niște farisei și niște cărturari din Ierusalim s‑au apropiat de Isus[1], zicând: (Mar 7:1)2– De ce ucenicii Tăi încalcă tradiția bătrânilor[2]? Căci ei nu‑și spală mâinile înainte să mănânce pâine.3Isus, răspunzând, le‑a zis: – Dar voi de ce încălcați porunca lui Dumnezeu din cauza tradiției voastre?4Căci Dumnezeu a zis: „Cinstește‑i pe tatăl tău și pe mama ta“[3] și „Cel ce își vorbește de rău tatăl sau mama să fie pedepsit cu moartea“[4]. (Ex 20:12; Ex 21:17; Lev 20:9; Deut 5:16)5Însă voi ziceți: „Dacă cineva îi spune tatălui său sau mamei sale: «Orice ajutor ai putea primi de la mine este deja închinat ca dar lui Dumnezeu»,6acela nu mai este dator să‑și cinstească tatăl sau mama.“[5] Și ați desființat astfel Cuvântul lui Dumnezeu prin tradiția voastră. (Mar 7:11)7Ipocriților! Bine a profețit Isaia despre voi, când a zis:8„Poporul acesta Mă cinstește cu buzele, dar inima lui este departe de Mine!9Degeaba însă Mi se închină ei, dând[6] ca învățături niște porunci de‑ale oamenilor!“[7] (Is 29:13)
Lucrurile care îl întinează pe om
10Isus a chemat mulțimea și a zis: „Ascultați și înțelegeți!11Nu ceea ce intră în gură îl întinează pe om, ci ceea ce iese din gură, aceea îl întinează pe om!“12Atunci ucenicii s‑au apropiat și I‑au zis: – Știi că fariseii s‑au poticnit când au auzit aceste cuvinte?13Isus, răspunzând, a zis: – Orice plantă pe care nu a sădit‑o Tatăl Meu ceresc va fi smulsă.14Lăsați‑i! Sunt niște călăuze oarbe pentru cei orbi. Și dacă un orb călăuzește un alt orb, amândoi vor cădea în groapă.15Petru, răspunzând, I‑a zis: – Explică‑ne pilda aceasta!16Isus a zis: – Și voi sunteți încă fără pricepere?17Nu înțelegeți că orice intră în gură ajunge în stomac, iar apoi este dat afară în latrină?18Dar ceea ce iese din gură vine din inimă și aceea îl întinează pe om.19Căci din inimă ies gândurile rele, crimele, adulterele, curviile[8], furturile, mărturiile mincinoase și blasfemiile.20Acestea sunt lucrurile care îl întinează pe om. Dar a consuma mâncare cu mâinile nespălate nu‑l întinează pe om.
Credința canaanitei
21Isus S‑a retras de acolo și S‑a dus în părțile Tyrului și ale Sidonului. (Mar 7:24)22Și iată că o femeie canaanită, venind din hotarele acelea, striga, zicând: – Ai milă de mine, Doamne, Fiul lui David! Fiica mea este posedată cumplit de un demon!23Isus nu i‑a răspuns niciun cuvânt. Ucenicii s‑au apropiat și L‑au rugat, zicând: – Ajut‑o și las‑o să plece, căci strigă după noi.24El însă, răspunzând, a zis: – Nu am fost trimis decât la oile pierdute ale Casei lui Israel.25Dar ea a venit și I s‑a închinat, zicând: – Doamne, ajută‑mă!26Isus, răspunzând, a zis: – Nu este bine să iei pâinea copiilor și s‑o arunci la căței.27Însă ea a zis: – Da, Doamne, dar și cățeii mănâncă din firimiturile care cad de la masa stăpânilor lor.28Atunci Isus, răspunzând, i‑a zis: – O, femeie, mare este credința ta! Să ți se facă după cum dorești. Și fiica ei a fost vindecată chiar în ceasul acela.
Isus vindecă mulți oameni bolnavi
29Isus a plecat de acolo și a venit lângă Marea Galileei. Apoi a urcat pe munte și S‑a așezat acolo. (Mar 7:31)30Au venit la El mulțimi mari de oameni, având cu ei ologi, orbi, schilozi, muți și mulți alți bolnavi. Ei i‑au așezat la picioarele Lui, iar El i‑a vindecat,31astfel că mulțimea a rămas uimită văzând că muții vorbesc, cei schilozi se însănătoșesc, cei ologi umblă, iar cei orbi văd. Și L‑au slăvit pe Dumnezeul lui Israel.
Isus hrănește peste patru mii de oameni
32Isus i‑a chemat pe ucenicii Săi și le‑a zis: – Mi‑e milă de cei din mulțime, pentru că sunt deja trei zile de când ei stau cu Mine și n‑au ce să mănânce. Nu vreau să‑i las să plece flămânzi, ca nu cumva să leșine pe drum. (Mar 8:1)33Ucenicii I‑au zis: – De unde să luăm atâtea pâini în pustia aceasta, ca să săturăm atâta mulțime?!34Isus i‑a întrebat: – Câte pâini aveți? Ei au zis: – Șapte…și câțiva pești.35Și poruncind mulțimii să se așeze pe pământ,36Isus a luat cele șapte pâini și peștii și, după ce a mulțumit, le‑a frânt și le‑a dat ucenicilor, iar ucenicii le‑au împărțit mulțimilor.37Au mâncat toți și s‑au săturat. Și au adunat șapte coșuri pline cu firimiturile rămase.38Cei ce mâncaseră erau patru mii de bărbați, în afară de femei și de copii.39După ce a lăsat mulțimile să plece, Isus S‑a urcat în barcă și S‑a dus în hotarele Magadanului[9]. 1Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said, (Mar 3:22; Mar 7:1)2“Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat.” (Mat 9:11; Lu 11:38; Gal 1:14; Col 2:8)3He answered them, “And why do you break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition?4For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.’ (Ex 20:12; Ex 21:17)5But you say, ‘If anyone tells his father or his mother, “What you would have gained from me is given to God,”[1]6he need not honor his father.’ So for the sake of your tradition you have made void the word[2] of God. (Ro 2:23; Gal 3:17)7You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said: (Mat 23:13)8“‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; (Is 29:13; Ez 33:31)9in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’” (Col 2:22; Tit 1:14)
What Defiles a Person
10And he called the people to him and said to them, “Hear and understand: (Mat 13:51)11it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a person.” (Fapte 10:14)12Then the disciples came and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?” (Mat 13:57; Lu 7:23)13He answered, “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be rooted up. (Is 60:21; Is 61:3; Ioan 15:1; 1 Cor 3:9; Iuda 1:12)14Let them alone; they are blind guides.[3] And if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.” (Is 56:10; Mal 2:8; Mat 23:16; Mat 23:24; Lu 6:39)15But Peter said to him, “Explain the parable to us.” (Mat 13:36)16And he said, “Are you also still without understanding? (Mat 16:9)17Do you not see that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the stomach and is expelled?[4] (1 Cor 6:13)18But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. (Mat 12:34; Iac 3:6)19For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander. (Ex 20:13; Mat 5:22; Mat 5:28; Ef 4:31; Col 3:8; 1 Tim 6:4; Iac 2:4)20These are what defile a person. But to eat with unwashed hands does not defile anyone.” (Mar 7:2; Mar 7:5; 1 Cor 6:9)
The Faith of a Canaanite Woman
21And Jesus went away from there and withdrew to the district of Tyre and Sidon. (Mar 7:24)22And behold, a Canaanite woman from that region came out and was crying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely oppressed by a demon.” (Gen 10:15; Gen 10:19; Jud 1:30; Mat 9:27)23But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came and begged him, saying, “Send her away, for she is crying out after us.” (Mat 14:15)24He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” (Mat 10:5; Ro 15:8)25But she came and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, help me.” (Mat 8:2)26And he answered, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.” (Mat 7:6)27She said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.” (Lu 16:21)28Then Jesus answered her, “O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed instantly.[5] (Mat 8:13; Mat 9:2; Mat 9:22; Mat 17:18; Ioan 4:52)
Jesus Heals Many
29Jesus went on from there and walked beside the Sea of Galilee. And he went up on the mountain and sat down there. (Mat 4:18; Mat 5:1; Mar 7:31; Ioan 6:1)30And great crowds came to him, bringing with them the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute, and many others, and they put them at his feet, and he healed them, (Mat 11:5)31so that the crowd wondered, when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled healthy, the lame walking, and the blind seeing. And they glorified the God of Israel. (Is 29:23; Mat 9:8; Mat 9:33; Mat 18:8; Mar 9:43; Lu 1:68; Fapte 13:17)
Jesus Feeds the Four Thousand
32Then Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion on the crowd because they have been with me now three days and have nothing to eat. And I am unwilling to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way.” (Mat 9:36; Mat 14:14; Mar 8:1)33And the disciples said to him, “Where are we to get enough bread in such a desolate place to feed so great a crowd?”34And Jesus said to them, “How many loaves do you have?” They said, “Seven, and a few small fish.” (Mat 16:10)35And directing the crowd to sit down on the ground,36he took the seven loaves and the fish, and having given thanks he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. (Mat 26:27; Mar 14:23; Lu 22:17; Lu 22:19; Ioan 6:11; Ioan 6:23; Fapte 27:35; Ro 14:6; 1 Cor 10:30; 1 Cor 11:24; 1 Cor 14:16; 1 Tim 4:3)37And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces left over. (2 Re 4:42)38Those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.39And after sending away the crowds, he got into the boat and went to the region of Magadan. (Mar 8:10)
