1Între timp însă, Saul încă sufla amenințare și ucidere împotriva ucenicilor Domnului. S‑a dus la marele preot2și a cerut de la el scrisori către sinagogile din Damasc, astfel încât, dacă i‑ar găsi pe unii care sunt adepți ai Căii[1], atât bărbați, cât și femei, să‑i aducă legați la Ierusalim. (Fapte 16:17; Fapte 18:25; Fapte 19:9; Fapte 19:23; Fapte 22:4; Fapte 24:14; Fapte 24:22; 2 Pe 2:2)3În timp ce era pe drum și se apropia de Damasc, a strălucit deodată împrejurul lui o lumină din cer.4El a căzut la pământ și a auzit un glas care‑i zicea: – Saul, Saul, de ce Mă persecuți?5El a întrebat: – Cine ești, Doamne[2]? Isus i‑a răspuns: – Eu sunt Isus, Cel pe Care tu Îl persecuți! Îți este greu să lovești cu călcâiul în pinteni![3] (Fapte 26:14)6Tremurând și plin de frică, a întrebat: – Doamne, ce vrei să fac? Domnul i‑a zis: – Ridică‑te, intră în cetate și ți se va spune ce trebuie să faci!7Bărbații care‑l însoțeau în călătorie s‑au oprit amuțiți; auzeau într-adevăr glasul, dar nu vedeau pe nimeni.8Saul s‑a ridicat de la pământ și, cu toate că ochii îi erau deschiși, nu vedea nimic. Prin urmare, l‑au luat de mână și l‑au dus în Damasc.9Timp de trei zile n‑a văzut, n‑a mâncat și nici n‑a băut nimic.10În Damasc era un ucenic pe nume Ananias. Domnul i‑a vorbit într‑o viziune: – Ananias! El a răspuns: – Iată‑mă, Doamne!11Domnul i‑a zis: – Scoală‑te, du‑te pe strada numită „Dreaptă“ și caută în casa lui Iuda un om din Tars, pe nume Saul. Căci iată, chiar acum el se roagă12și a văzut într‑o viziune un om pe nume Ananias, intrând și punându‑și mâinile peste el ca să‑și recapete vederea.13Ananias a răspuns: – Doamne, am auzit de la mulți despre toate relele pe care omul acesta le‑a făcut sfinților Tăi în Ierusalim.14Chiar și aici are autoritate din partea conducătorilor preoților să‑i lege pe toți cei ce cheamă Numele Tău!15Dar Domnul i‑a zis: – Du‑te, pentru că el este un vas al Meu pe care l‑am ales ca să ducă Numele Meu atât înaintea neamurilor și regilor, cât și înaintea fiilor lui Israel.16Căci Eu îi voi arăta cât trebuie să sufere de dragul Numelui Meu.17Ananias a plecat, a intrat în casa unde era Saul și, punându‑și mâinile peste el, a zis: „Frate Saul, m‑a trimis Domnul – Isus, Cel Care ți S‑a arătat pe drumul pe care veneai – ca să‑ți recapeți vederea și să fii umplut de Duhul Sfânt.“18Imediat, de pe ochii lui au căzut un fel de solzi, iar el și‑a recăpătat vederea. Apoi s‑a ridicat, a fost botezat
Saul, în Damasc și în Ierusalim
19și, după ce a mâncat ceva, i‑au revenit puterile. Saul a rămas câteva zile cu ucenicii în Damasc20și imediat a început să‑L proclame pe Isus în sinagogi, spunând că este Fiul lui Dumnezeu.21Toți cei ce‑l auzeau se minunau și ziceau: „Nu este el acela care‑i distrugea în Ierusalim pe cei ce chemau Numele acesta?! Și n‑a venit el aici ca să‑i ducă legați la conducătorii preoților?!“22Dar Saul se întărea tot mai mult și le provoca nedumerire iudeilor care locuiau în Damasc, dovedind că Isus este Cristosul.23După mai multe zile, iudeii au uneltit să‑l omoare,24însă Saul a aflat despre uneltirea lor. Zi și noapte ei supravegheau porțile, ca să‑l omoare.25Dar într‑o noapte, ucenicii l‑au luat și l‑au coborât prin zid, dându‑l jos într‑un coș.26Când a ajuns în Ierusalim, a încercat să li se alăture ucenicilor, dar toți se temeau de el, pentru că nu credeau că este un ucenic.27Atunci Barnabas l‑a luat și l‑a dus la apostoli. Le‑a istorisit cum, pe drum, Saul Îl văzuse pe Domnul, și El îi vorbise, și cum, în Damasc, vorbise cu îndrăzneală în Numele lui Isus.28Astfel, începând de atunci, Saul venea și se ducea împreună cu ei în Ierusalim, vorbind cu îndrăzneală în Numele Domnului.29De asemenea, vorbea și purta dispute cu iudeii eleniști[4], dar ei încercau să‑l omoare. (Fapte 6:1)30Când au aflat frații lucrul acesta, l‑au dus la Cezareea[5] și l‑au trimis în Tars. (Fapte 8:40)31Astfel, Biserica era răspândită prin toată Iudeea, Galileea și Samaria, se bucura de pace și era întărită[6]; ea umbla în frică de Domnul și se înmulțea prin încurajarea Duhului Sfânt.
Petru, în Lida și în Iafo
32În timp ce călătorea prin toate regiunile, Petru s‑a coborât și la sfinții care locuiau în Lida.33Acolo a găsit un om pe nume Enea, care de opt ani zăcea în pat, pentru că era paralizat.34Petru i‑a zis: „Enea, Isus Cristos te vindecă! Ridică‑te și strânge‑ți patul!“ Și el s‑a ridicat imediat.35Toți locuitorii din Lida și din Șaron l‑au văzut și s‑au întors la Domnul.36În Iafo era o ucenică pe nume Tabita, care tradus înseamnă „Gazelă“[7]. Viața ei era plină de fapte bune și de milosteniile pe care le făcea.37În vremea aceea[8], ea s‑a îmbolnăvit și a murit. Au spălat‑o și au pus‑o în camera de sus.38Lida este aproape de Iafo. Prin urmare, când ucenicii au auzit că Petru este în Lida, au trimis doi bărbați să‑l roage: „Nu întârzia în a veni până la noi!“39Petru s‑a ridicat și a plecat împreună cu ei. Când a ajuns, l‑au condus în camera de sus. Toate văduvele au stat lângă el, plângând și arătându‑i cămășile[9] și hainele pe care le făcea Gazela[10] pe când era cu ele.40Petru i‑a scos afară pe toți, s‑a pus în genunchi și s‑a rugat. Apoi s‑a întors spre trup și a zis: „Tabita, scoală‑te!“ Ea a deschis ochii și, când l‑a văzut pe Petru, s‑a ridicat.41El i‑a dat mâna și a ridicat‑o; apoi i‑a chemat pe sfinți și pe văduve și le‑a înfățișat‑o vie.42Acest fapt a devenit cunoscut prin toată cetatea Iafo și mulți au crezut în Domnul.43Petru a rămas mai multe zile în Iafo, la un anume Simon, un tăbăcar.

(Dan 10:7; Ioan 12:29; Fapte 22:9)8Saul rose from the ground, and although his eyes were opened, he saw nothing. So they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus. (Fapte 22:11)9And for three days he was without sight, and neither ate nor drank.10Now there was a disciple at Damascus named Ananias. The Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias.” And he said, “Here I am, Lord.” (Gen 22:1; Is 6:8; Fapte 22:12)11And the Lord said to him, “Rise and go to the street called Straight, and at the house of Judas look for a man of Tarsus named Saul, for behold, he is praying, (Fapte 21:39; Fapte 22:3)12and he has seen in a vision a man named Ananias come in and lay his hands on him so that he might regain his sight.” (Mar 5:23; Fapte 9:17)13But Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much evil he has done to your saints at Jerusalem. (Fapte 9:1; Ro 15:25; Ro 15:31; 1 Tes 3:13; 2 Tes 1:10)14And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on your name.” (Fapte 7:59; Fapte 9:21; Fapte 22:16; Ro 10:13; 1 Cor 1:2; 2 Tim 2:22)15But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel. And laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus who appeared to you on the road by which you came has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” (Fapte 2:4; Fapte 9:12; Fapte 22:12)18And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he rose and was baptized; (Fapte 22:13; Fapte 22:16)
Saul Proclaims Jesus in Synagogues
19and taking food, he was strengthened. For some days he was with the disciples at Damascus. (Fapte 9:9; Fapte 26:20)20And immediately he proclaimed Jesus in the synagogues, saying, “He is the Son of God.” (Fapte 9:22)21And all who heard him were amazed and said, “Is not this the man who made havoc in Jerusalem of those who called upon this name? And has he not come here for this purpose, to bring them bound before the chief priests?” (Fapte 9:13; Gal 1:13; Gal 1:23)22But Saul increased all the more in strength, and confounded the Jews who lived in Damascus by proving that Jesus was the Christ. (Fapte 9:20; Fapte 18:28; 1 Tim 1:12)
26And when he had come to Jerusalem, he attempted to join the disciples. And they were all afraid of him, for they did not believe that he was a disciple. (Fapte 22:17; Fapte 26:20)27But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles and declared to them how on the road he had seen the Lord, who spoke to him, and how at Damascus he had preached boldly in the name of Jesus. (Fapte 4:29; Fapte 4:36; Fapte 9:3; Fapte 9:19; Fapte 9:22; Gal 1:18)28So he went in and out among them at Jerusalem, preaching boldly in the name of the Lord. (Fapte 1:21)29And he spoke and disputed against the Hellenists.[3] But they were seeking to kill him. (Fapte 6:1; Fapte 22:18)30And when the brothers learned this, they brought him down to Caesarea and sent him off to Tarsus. (Ioan 21:23; Fapte 11:25; Gal 1:21)31So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was being built up. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it multiplied. (Ne 5:9; Fapte 8:1; Fapte 9:35; Fapte 9:42; Fapte 16:5)
The Healing of Aeneas
32Now as Peter went here and there among them all, he came down also to the saints who lived at Lydda. (Fapte 8:25)33There he found a man named Aeneas, bedridden for eight years, who was paralyzed.34And Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you; rise and make your bed.” And immediately he rose. (Fapte 3:6)35And all the residents of Lydda and Sharon saw him, and they turned to the Lord. (1 Cro 5:16; 1 Cro 27:29; C Cânt 2:1; Fapte 9:31; Fapte 9:42; Fapte 11:21; 2 Cor 3:16)
Dorcas Restored to Life
36Now there was in Joppa a disciple named Tabitha, which, translated, means Dorcas.[4] She was full of good works and acts of charity. (Ios 19:46; 1 Tim 2:10)37In those days she became ill and died, and when they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room. (Fapte 1:13; Fapte 9:39; Fapte 20:8)38Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him, urging him, “Please come to us without delay.” (Num 22:16)39So Peter rose and went with them. And when he arrived, they took him to the upper room. All the widows stood beside him weeping and showing tunics[5] and other garments that Dorcas made while she was with them. (Fapte 9:37)40But Peter put them all outside, and knelt down and prayed; and turning to the body he said, “Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up. (Mat 9:25; Mar 5:41; Ioan 11:43; Fapte 7:60)41And he gave her his hand and raised her up. Then, calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive.42And it became known throughout all Joppa, and many believed in the Lord.
