1Dopo queste cose, Dio mise alla prova Abraamo e gli disse: «Abraamo!» Egli rispose: «Eccomi».2E Dio disse: «Prendi ora tuo figlio, il tuo unico, colui che ami, Isacco, e va’ nel paese di Moria, e offrilo là in olocausto sopra uno dei monti che ti dirò».3Abraamo si alzò la mattina di buon’ora, sellò il suo asino, prese con sé due suoi servi e suo figlio Isacco, spaccò della legna per l’olocausto, poi partì verso il luogo che Dio gli aveva indicato.4Il terzo giorno Abraamo alzò gli occhi e vide da lontano il luogo.5Allora Abraamo disse ai suoi servi: «Rimanete qui con l’asino; io e il ragazzo andremo fin là e adoreremo; poi torneremo da voi».6Abraamo prese la legna per l’olocausto e la mise addosso a Isacco suo figlio, prese in mano il fuoco e il coltello, poi proseguirono tutti e due insieme.7Isacco parlò ad Abraamo suo padre e disse: «Padre mio!» Abraamo rispose: «Eccomi qui, figlio mio». E Isacco: «Ecco il fuoco e la legna; ma dov’è l’agnello per l’olocausto?»8Abraamo rispose: «Figlio mio, Dio stesso si provvederà l’agnello per l’olocausto». E proseguirono tutti e due insieme.9Giunsero al luogo che Dio gli aveva detto. Abraamo costruì l’altare e vi accomodò la legna; legò Isacco suo figlio e lo mise sull’altare, sopra la legna.10Abraamo stese la mano e prese il coltello per scannare suo figlio.11Ma l’angelo del Signore lo chiamò dal cielo e disse: «Abraamo, Abraamo!» Egli rispose: «Eccomi».12E l’angelo: «Non stendere la mano contro il ragazzo e non fargli male! Ora so che tu temi Dio, poiché non mi hai rifiutato tuo figlio, l’unico tuo».13Abraamo alzò gli occhi, guardò, ed ecco dietro a sé un montone, impigliato per le corna in un cespuglio. Abraamo andò, prese il montone e l’offerse in olocausto invece di suo figlio.14Abraamo chiamò quel luogo «Iavè-Irè[1]». Per questo si dice oggi: «Al monte del Signore sarà provveduto».15L’angelo del Signore chiamò dal cielo Abraamo una seconda volta e disse:16«Io giuro per me stesso», dice il Signore, «che, siccome tu hai fatto questo e non mi hai rifiutato tuo figlio, l’unico tuo,17io ti colmerò di benedizioni e moltiplicherò la tua discendenza come le stelle del cielo e come la sabbia che è sul lido del mare; e la tua discendenza s’impadronirà delle città dei suoi nemici.18Tutte le nazioni della terra saranno benedette nella tua discendenza, perché tu hai ubbidito alla mia voce».19Poi Abraamo tornò dai suoi servi. Essi si levarono e insieme andarono a Beer-Sceba. E Abraamo abitò a Beer-Sceba.20Dopo queste cose fu riferito ad Abraamo questo: «Ecco, Milca ha partorito anch’ella dei figli a Naor, tuo fratello:21Uz, il primogenito, Buz, suo fratello,22Chemuel padre di Aram, Chesed, Azo, Pildas, Idlaf e Betuel».23E Betuel generò Rebecca. Questi otto Milca partorì a Naor, fratello di Abraamo.24E la concubina di lui, che si chiamava Reuma, partorì anch’essa Teba, Gaam, Taas e Maaca.
1Einige Zeit danach[1] stellte Gott Abraham auf die Probe. „Abraham“, sagte er zu ihm. „Ja, hier bin ich“, antwortete er. (Gen 21,5)2„Nimm deinen Sohn, deinen einzigen, den du lieb hast, den Isaak! Zieh ins Land Morija und opfere ihn als Brandopfer auf dem Berg, den ich dir zeigen werde!“[2] (2Cr 3,1)3Am nächsten Morgen stand Abraham früh auf. Er spaltete Holz für das Brandopfer und sattelte seinen Esel. Dann nahm er zwei seiner Leute und seinen Sohn Isaak und machte sich mit ihnen auf den Weg zu dem Ort, den Gott ihm genannt hatte.4Am dritten Tag erblickte er den Berg aus der Ferne.5Da sagte er zu seinen Leuten: „Ihr bleibt mit dem Esel hier! Ich werde mit dem Jungen dort hinaufgehen, um anzubeten. Dann kommen wir wieder zurück.“6Abraham lud seinem Sohn die Holzscheite auf den Rücken. Er selbst nahm den Topf mit den glühenden Kohlen und das Messer. So gingen beide miteinander.7Da sagte Isaak: „Vater!“ – „Ja, mein Sohn?“ – „Schau, wir haben Feuer und Holz. Aber wo ist das Lamm zum Brandopfer?“8„Gott wird schon für ein Lamm sorgen, mein Sohn.“ So gingen beide miteinander.9Als sie die Stelle erreichten, die Gott ihm genannt hatte, baute Abraham den Altar. Dann schichtete er das Holz auf, fesselte seinen Sohn Isaak und legte ihn auf den Altar, oben auf das Holz.10Und dann griff er nach dem Messer, um seinen Sohn zu schlachten.11Da rief der Engel Jahwes vom Himmel her: „Abraham! Abraham!“ – „Ja?“, erwiderte er.12„Halt ein! Tu dem Jungen nichts zuleide! Jetzt weiß ich, dass du Gott gehorchst, denn du hast mir deinen einzigen Sohn nicht verweigert.“13Als Abraham dann aufblickte, sah er einen Schafbock, der sich mit seinen Hörnern im Gebüsch hinter ihm verfangen hatte. Er holte das Tier und opferte es anstelle seines Sohnes auf dem Altar.14Und den Ort nannte er „Jahwe sorgt vor“. Noch heute sagt man: „Auf dem Berg Jahwes ist vorgesorgt.“15Noch einmal rief der Engel Jahwes Abraham vom Himmel herab zu:16„Ich schwöre bei mir selbst, sagt Jahwe: Weil du das getan und mir deinen einzigen Sohn nicht verweigert hast,17werde ich dich mit Segen überschütten und deine Nachkommen überaus zahlreich machen,[3] so wie die Sterne am Himmel und die Sandkörner[4] am Strand. Sie werden ihre Feinde besiegen und ihre Städte erobern. (Eb 6,13)18Und durch deinen Nachkommen[5] werden alle Völker der Erde gesegnet sein, weil du mir gehorcht hast.“ (At 3,25; Ga 3,16)19Abraham kehrte wieder zu seinen Leuten zurück, und sie gingen miteinander nach Beerscheba. Dort blieb Abraham wohnen.
Die Nachkommen Nahors
20Einige Zeit später erhielt Abraham die Nachricht: „Milka hat deinem Bruder Nahor Söhne geboren!“21Es waren Uz, sein Erstgeborener, dann Bus und Kemuël, von dem die Syrer abstammen,22Kesed und Haso, Pildasch, Jidlaf und Betuël, der Vater von Rebekka.23Diese acht Söhne hatte Milka Nahor, dem Bruder Abrahams, geboren.24Auch von seiner Nebenfrau Rëuma hatte Nahor Kinder: Tebach, Gaham, Tahasch und Maacha.
1After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” (1Co 10,13; Eb 11,17; Giac 1,12; Giac 1,13; 1P 1,6; 1P 1,7)2He said, “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.” (2Cr 3,1)3So Abraham rose early in the morning, saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and his son Isaac. And he cut the wood for the burnt offering and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.4On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw the place from afar.5Then Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey; I and the boy[1] will go over there and worship and come again to you.”6And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son. And he took in his hand the fire and the knife. So they went both of them together. (Giov 19,17)7And Isaac said to his father Abraham, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” He said, “Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”8Abraham said, “God will provide for himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they went both of them together. (Giov 1,29; Giov 1,36; 1P 1,19; Ap 5,12)9When they came to the place of which God had told him, Abraham built the altar there and laid the wood in order and bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. (Eb 11,17; Giac 2,21)10Then Abraham reached out his hand and took the knife to slaughter his son.11But the angel of the LORD called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.”12He said, “Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him, for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.” (Gen 26,5; Mi 6,7; Mi 6,8)13And Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him was a ram, caught in a thicket by his horns. And Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son.14So Abraham called the name of that place, “The LORD will provide”;[2] as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the LORD it shall be provided.”[3] (Gen 22,8)15And the angel of the LORD called to Abraham a second time from heaven16and said, “By myself I have sworn, declares the LORD, because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, (Sal 105,9; Lu 1,73; Eb 6,13)17I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his[4] enemies, (Gen 13,16; Gen 24,60; Sal 127,5; Ger 15,5; Ger 33,22)18and in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.” (Gen 12,3; Gen 18,18; Gen 22,3; Gen 26,4; Gen 26,5; At 3,25; Ga 3,8)19So Abraham returned to his young men, and they arose and went together to Beersheba. And Abraham lived at Beersheba. (Gen 21,31)20Now after these things it was told to Abraham, “Behold, Milcah also has borne children to your brother Nahor: (Gen 11,29)21Uz his firstborn, Buz his brother, Kemuel the father of Aram, (Giob 1,1; Ger 25,23)22Chesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph, and Bethuel.”23( Bethuel fathered Rebekah.) These eight Milcah bore to Nahor, Abraham’s brother. (Gen 24,15)24Moreover, his concubine, whose name was Reumah, bore Tebah, Gaham, Tahash, and Maacah.

Una vez allí, ofrécelo como holocausto en el monte que yo te indicaré.3Abraham se levantó de madrugada y ensilló su asno. También cortó leña para el holocausto y, junto con dos de sus criados y su hijo Isaac, se encaminó hacia el lugar que Dios le había indicado.4Al tercer día, Abraham alzó los ojos y a lo lejos vio el lugar.5Entonces le dijo a sus criados: —Quédense aquí con el asno. El muchacho y yo seguiremos adelante para adorar a Dios, y luego regresaremos junto a ustedes.6Abraham tomó la leña del holocausto y la puso sobre Isaac, su hijo; él, por su parte, cargó con el fuego y el cuchillo. Y los dos siguieron caminando juntos.7Isaac le dijo a Abraham: —¡Padre! —Dime, hijo mío. —Aquí tenemos el fuego y la leña —continuó Isaac—; pero, ¿dónde está el cordero para el holocausto?8—El cordero, hijo mío, lo proveerá Dios —le respondió Abraham. Y siguieron caminando juntos.9Cuando llegaron al lugar señalado por Dios, Abraham construyó un altar y preparó la leña. Después ató a su hijo Isaac y lo puso sobre el altar, encima de la leña.10Entonces tomó el cuchillo para sacrificar a su hijo,11pero en ese momento el ángel del Señor le gritó desde el cielo: —¡Abraham! ¡Abraham! —Aquí estoy —respondió.12—No pongas tu mano sobre el muchacho, ni le hagas ningún daño —le dijo el ángel—. Ahora sé que temes a Dios, porque ni siquiera te has negado a darme a tu único hijo.13Abraham alzó la vista y, en un matorral, vio un carnero enredado por los cuernos. Fue entonces, tomó el carnero y lo ofreció como holocausto, en lugar de su hijo.14A ese sitio Abraham le puso por nombre: «El Señor provee.» Por eso hasta el día de hoy se dice: «En un monte provee el Señor.»15El ángel del Señor llamó a Abraham por segunda vez desde el cielo,16y le dijo: —Como has hecho esto, y no me has negado a tu único hijo, juro por mí mismo —afirma el Señor—17que te bendeciré en gran manera, y que multiplicaré tu descendencia como las estrellas del cielo y como la arena del mar. Además, tus descendientes conquistarán las ciudades de sus enemigos.18Puesto que me has obedecido, todas las naciones del mundo serán bendecidas por medio de tu descendencia.19Abraham regresó al lugar donde estaban sus criados, y juntos partieron hacia Berseba, donde Abraham se quedó a vivir.
Los hijos de Najor
20Pasado cierto tiempo, Abraham recibió la noticia de que también Milca le había dado hijos a su hermano Najor.21Su hijo primogénito fue Uz; luego nacieron sus hermanos Buz y Quemuel. Este último fue el padre de Aram.22Después siguieron Quésed, Jazó, Pildás, Yidlaf y Betuel,23que fue el padre de Rebeca. Éstos fueron los ocho hijos que Milca le dio a Najor, hermano de Abraham.24Najor también tuvo hijos con Reumá, su concubina. Ellos fueron Tébaj, Gaján, Tajás y Macá.
