Patto fra Dio e Davide

1 Cantico di Etan l’Ezraita. Io canterò per sempre la bontà del Signore; la mia bocca annuncerà la tua fedeltà di generazione in generazione. 2 Poiché ho detto: «La tua bontà sussiste in eterno; nei cieli è fondata la tua fedeltà. 3 Io ho fatto un patto con il mio eletto; ho fatto questo giuramento a Davide, mio servo: 4 “Stabilirò la tua discendenza in eterno ed edificherò il tuo trono per ogni età”». [Pausa] 5 Anche i cieli cantano le tue meraviglie, o Signore, e la tua fedeltà nell’assemblea dei santi. 6 Poiché chi, nei cieli, è paragonabile al Signore? Chi è simile al Signore tra i figli di Dio^[1]? 7 Dio è terribile nell’assemblea dei santi e tremendo fra quanti lo circondano. 8 Signore, Dio degli eserciti, chi è potente come te, o Signore? La tua fedeltà si manifesta attorno a te. 9 Tu domi l’orgoglio del mare; quando le sue onde s’innalzano, tu le plachi. 10 Hai stroncato l’Egitto, ferendolo a morte; con braccio potente hai disperso i tuoi nemici. 11 I cieli sono tuoi, tua pure è la terra; tu hai fondato il mondo e tutto ciò che è in esso. 12 Hai stabilito il settentrione e il mezzogiorno; il Tabor e l’Ermon mandano grida di gioia al tuo nome. 13 Tu hai un braccio potente; la tua mano è forte, alta è la tua destra. 14 Giustizia e diritto sono la base del tuo trono, bontà e verità vanno davanti a te. 15 Beato il popolo che conosce il grido di gioia; esso cammina, o Signore, alla luce del tuo volto; 16 esulta tutto il giorno nel tuo nome e gioisce della tua giustizia. 17 Perché tu sei il vanto della loro forza e con il tuo favore accresci la nostra potenza. 18 Poiché il nostro scudo appartiene al Signore, e il nostro re al Santo d’Israele. 19 Tu parlasti allora in visione al tuo diletto, e dicesti: «Ho portato aiuto a un prode, ho innalzato un eletto fra il popolo. 20 Ho trovato Davide, mio servo, l’ho unto con il mio santo olio; 21 la mia mano lo sosterrà saldamente e il mio braccio lo rafforzerà. 22 Il nemico non lo sorprenderà e il perverso non l’opprimerà. 23 Io disperderò davanti a lui i suoi nemici e sconfiggerò quelli che l’odiano. 24 La mia fedeltà e la mia bontà saranno con lui e nel mio nome crescerà la sua potenza. 25 Stenderò la sua mano sul mare e la sua destra sui fiumi. 26 Egli m’invocherà, dicendo: “Tu sei mio Padre, il mio Dio e la rocca della mia salvezza”. 27 Io inoltre lo costituirò mio primogenito, il più eccelso dei re della terra. 28 Gli conserverò la mia grazia per sempre, il mio patto con lui rimarrà stabile. 29 Renderò eterna la sua discendenza e il suo trono come i giorni dei cieli. 30 Se i suoi figli abbandonano la mia legge e non camminano secondo i miei ordini, 31 se violano i miei statuti e non osservano i miei comandamenti, 32 io punirò il loro peccato con la verga e la loro colpa con percosse; 33 ma non gli ritirerò la mia grazia e non verrò meno alla mia fedeltà. 34 Non violerò il mio patto e non muterò quanto ho promesso. 35 Una cosa ho giurato per la mia santità e non mentirò a Davide: 36 la sua discendenza durerà in eterno e il suo trono sarà davanti a me come il sole, 37 sarà stabile per sempre come la luna; e il testimone che è nei cieli è fedele». [Pausa] 38 Eppure, tu ti sei adirato contro il tuo unto, l’hai respinto e disprezzato. 39 Tu hai rinnegato il patto con il tuo servo, hai fatto cadere e profanato la sua corona. 40 Hai abbattuto tutti i suoi baluardi, hai ridotto in rovine le sue fortezze. 41 Tutti i passanti l’hanno saccheggiato, è diventato lo scherno dei vicini. 42 Tu hai reso vittoriosa la destra dei suoi avversari, hai rallegrato tutti i suoi nemici. 43 Hai smussato il taglio della sua spada e non l’hai sostenuto nella battaglia. 44 Hai fatto cessare il suo splendore e hai gettato a terra il suo trono. 45 Hai abbreviato i giorni della sua giovinezza, l’hai coperto di vergogna. [Pausa] 46 Fino a quando, Signore, ti terrai nascosto e l’ira tua arderà come fuoco? 47 Ricòrdati quant’è breve la mia vita, e per quale vanità hai creato tutti i figli degli uomini! 48 Qual è l’uomo che viva senza vedere la morte? Che scampi l’anima sua al potere del soggiorno dei morti? [Pausa] 49 Signore, dov’è la tua antica bontà che giurasti a Davide nella tua fedeltà? 50 Ricorda, Signore, l’oltraggio fatto ai tuoi servi; ricòrdati che io porto in cuore quello di tutti i grandi popoli; 51 l’oltraggio di cui ti hanno ricoperto i tuoi nemici, o Signore, l’oltraggio che hanno gettato sui passi del tuo unto. 52 Benedetto sia il Signore per sempre. 1 Eine Unterweisung Etans, des Esrachiters. 2 Ich will singen von der Gnade des HERRN ewiglich und seine Treue verkünden mit meinem Munde für und für; 3 denn ich sage: Auf ewig steht die Gnade fest; du gibst deiner Treue sicheren Grund im Himmel. 4 »Ich habe einen Bund geschlossen mit meinem Auserwählten, ich habe David, meinem Knechte, geschworen: (Sal 132,11; Is 55,3) 5 Ich will deinem Geschlecht festen Grund geben auf ewig und deinen Thron bauen für und für.« Sela. (2Sam 7,16; At 2,30) 6 Und die Himmel werden, HERR, deine Wunder preisen und deine Treue in der Gemeinde der Heiligen. 7 Denn wer in den Wolken könnte dem HERRN gleichen und dem HERRN gleich sein unter den Himmlischen? (1Re 22,19) 8 Gott ist gefürchtet in der Versammlung der Heiligen, groß und furchtbar über alle, die um ihn sind. 9 HERR, Gott Zebaoth, wer ist wie du? Mächtig bist du, HERR, und deine Treue ist um dich her. 10 Du herrschest über das ungestüme Meer, du stillest seine Wellen, wenn sie sich erheben. (Sal 65,8; Mat 8,26) 11 Du hast Rahab^[1] zu Tode geschlagen und deine Feinde zerstreut mit deinem starken Arm. (Giob 26,12; Is 30,7; Is 51,9) 12 Himmel und Erde sind dein, du hast gegründet den Erdkreis und was darinnen ist. (Sal 24,1) 13 Nord und Süd hast du geschaffen, Tabor und Hermon jauchzen über deinen Namen. 14 Du hast einen gewaltigen Arm, stark ist deine Hand, und hoch ist deine Rechte. 15 Gerechtigkeit und Recht sind deines Thrones Stütze, Gnade und Treue treten vor dein Angesicht. 16 Wohl dem Volk, das jauchzen kann! HERR, sie werden im Licht deines Antlitzes wandeln; 17 sie werden über deinen Namen täglich fröhlich sein und in deiner Gerechtigkeit herrlich sein. 18 Denn du bist der Ruhm ihrer Stärke, und durch deine Gnade wirst du unser Horn erhöhen. 19 Denn dem HERRN gehört unser Schild und dem Heiligen Israels unser König. 20 Damals hast du geredet durch ein Gesicht zu deinen Heiligen und gesagt: Ich habe einem Helden Hilfe gewährt, ich habe erhöht einen Auserwählten aus dem Volk. (1Sam 13,14; 1Sam 16,13) 21 Ich habe gefunden meinen Knecht David, ich habe ihn gesalbt mit meinem heiligen Öl. 22 Meine Hand soll ihn erhalten, und mein Arm soll ihn stärken. 23 Die Feinde sollen ihn nicht überwältigen und die Ungerechten ihn nicht demütigen; 24 sondern ich will seine Widersacher vor ihm zerschlagen und, die ihn hassen, zu Boden stoßen. 25 Aber meine Treue und Gnade soll bei ihm sein, und sein Horn soll erhöht sein in meinem Namen. 26 Seine Hand lege ich auf das Meer und seine Rechte auf die Ströme. (Sal 72,8) 27 Er wird mich nennen: Du bist mein Vater, mein Gott und der Hort meines Heils. (2Sam 7,14) 28 Und ich will ihn zum erstgeborenen Sohn machen, zum Höchsten unter den Königen auf Erden. 29 Ich will ihm ewiglich bewahren meine Gnade, und mein Bund soll ihm fest bleiben. 30 Ich will ihm ewiglich Nachkommen geben und seinen Thron erhalten, solange der Himmel währt. 31 Wenn aber seine Söhne mein Gesetz verlassen und in meinen Rechten nicht wandeln, 32 wenn sie meine Ordnungen entheiligen und meine Gebote nicht halten, 33 so will ich ihre Sünde mit der Rute heimsuchen und ihre Missetat mit Plagen; 34 aber meine Gnade will ich nicht von ihm wenden und meine Treue nicht brechen. 35 Ich will meinen Bund nicht entheiligen und nicht ändern, was aus meinem Munde gegangen ist. 36 Eines habe ich geschworen bei meiner Heiligkeit und will David nicht belügen: 37 »Sein Geschlecht soll ewig bestehen und sein Thron vor mir wie die Sonne, (Sal 72,17) 38 wie der Mond, der ewiglich bleibt, und wie der treue Zeuge in den Wolken.« Sela. (Gen 9,13) 39 Aber nun hast du verstoßen und verworfen und zürnst mit deinem Gesalbten! 40 Du hast zerbrochen den Bund mit deinem Knecht und seine Krone entweiht in den Staub. 41 Du hast eingerissen alle seine Mauern und hast zerstört seine Festungen. 42 Es berauben ihn alle, die vorübergehen; er ist seinen Nachbarn ein Spott geworden. 43 Du hast die Rechte seiner Widersacher erhöht und alle seine Feinde erfreut. 44 Auch hast du die Kraft seines Schwerts weggenommen und lässest ihn nicht siegen im Streit. 45 Du hast seinem Glanz ein Ende gemacht und seinen Thron zu Boden geworfen. 46 Du hast die Tage seiner Jugend verkürzt und ihn bedeckt mit Schande. Sela. 47 Wie lange, HERR, willst du dich immerfort verbergen und deinen Grimm wie Feuer brennen lassen? 48 Gedenke, wie kurz mein Leben ist, wie vergänglich du alle Menschen geschaffen hast! 49 Wo ist jemand, der da lebt und den Tod nicht sähe, der seine Seele errette aus des Todes Hand? Sela. 50 Herr, wo ist deine Gnade von einst, die du David geschworen hast in deiner Treue? 51 Gedenke, Herr, an die Schmach deiner Knechte, die ich trage in meiner Brust von all den vielen Völkern, (Sal 44,10) 52 mit der, HERR, deine Feinde dich schmähen, mit der sie schmähen die Spuren deines Gesalbten! 53 Gelobt sei der HERR ewiglich! I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations. 2 For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: thy faithfulness shalt thou establish in the very heavens. 3 I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant, 4 Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations.
