Dio fa un patto con Abramo

1 Quando Abramo ebbe novantanove anni, il Signore gli apparve e gli disse: «Io sono il Dio onnipotente; cammina alla mia presenza e sii integro; 2 e io stabilirò il mio patto fra me e te e ti moltiplicherò grandemente». 3 Allora Abramo si prostrò con la faccia a terra e Dio gli parlò, dicendo: 4 «Quanto a me, ecco il patto che faccio con te: tu diventerai padre di una moltitudine di nazioni; 5 non sarai più chiamato Abramo^[1], ma il tuo nome sarà Abraamo, poiché io ti costituisco padre di una moltitudine di nazioni. 6 Ti farò moltiplicare grandemente, ti farò divenire nazioni e da te usciranno dei re. 7 Stabilirò il mio patto fra me e te e i tuoi discendenti dopo di te, di generazione in generazione; sarà un patto eterno per il quale io sarò il Dio tuo e della tua discendenza dopo di te. 8 A te e alla tua discendenza dopo di te darò il paese dove abiti come straniero: tutto il paese di Canaan, in possesso perenne; e sarò loro Dio». 9 Poi Dio disse ad Abraamo: «Quanto a te, tu osserverai il mio patto: tu e la tua discendenza dopo di te, di generazione in generazione. 10 Questo è il mio patto che voi osserverete, patto fra me e voi e la tua discendenza dopo di te: ogni maschio tra di voi sia circonciso. 11 Sarete circoncisi; questo sarà un segno del patto fra me e voi. 12 All’età di otto giorni, ogni maschio sarà circonciso tra di voi, di generazione in generazione: tanto quello nato in casa, quanto quello comprato con denaro da qualunque straniero e che non sia della tua discendenza. 13 Quello nato in casa tua e quello comprato con denaro dovrà essere circonciso; il mio patto nella vostra carne sarà un patto perenne. 14 L’incirconciso, il maschio che non sarà stato circonciso nella carne del suo prepuzio, sarà tolto via dalla sua gente: egli avrà violato il mio patto». 15 Dio disse ad Abraamo: «Quanto a Sarai tua moglie, non la chiamare più Sarai^[2]; il suo nome sarà, invece, Sara. 16 Io la benedirò e da lei ti darò anche un figlio; la benedirò e diventerà nazioni; re di popoli usciranno da lei». 17 Allora Abraamo si prostrò con la faccia a terra, rise, e disse in cuor suo: «Nascerà un figlio a un uomo di cent’anni? E Sara partorirà ora che ha novant’anni?» 18 Abraamo disse a Dio: «Oh, possa almeno Ismaele vivere davanti a te!» 19 Dio rispose: «No, Sara, tua moglie, ti partorirà un figlio e tu gli porrai nome Isacco^[3]. Io stabilirò il mio patto con lui, un patto eterno per la sua discendenza dopo di lui. 20 Quanto a Ismaele, io ti ho esaudito. Ecco, io l’ho benedetto e farò in modo che si moltiplichi e si accresca straordinariamente. Egli genererà dodici prìncipi e io farò di lui una grande nazione. 21 Ma stabilirò il mio patto con Isacco, che Sara ti partorirà in questa stagione il prossimo anno». 22 Quando ebbe finito di parlare con lui, Dio lasciò Abraamo, levandosi in alto. 23 Abraamo prese suo figlio Ismaele, tutti quelli che gli erano nati in casa e tutti quelli che aveva comprato con il suo denaro, tutti i maschi fra la gente della casa di Abraamo, e li circoncise, in quello stesso giorno, come Dio aveva detto di fare. 24 Abraamo aveva novantanove anni quando fu circonciso. 25 Suo figlio Ismaele aveva tredici anni quando fu circonciso. 26 In quel medesimo giorno fu circonciso Abraamo e Ismaele suo figlio. 27 Tutti gli uomini della sua casa, tanto quelli nati in casa quanto quelli comprati con denaro dagli stranieri, furono circoncisi con lui.

Der ewige Bund mit Abraham

1 Als nun Abram neunundneunzig Jahre alt war, erschien ihm der HERR und sprach zu ihm: Ich bin der allmächtige Gott^[1]; wandle vor mir und sei fromm. (Gen 35,11; Eso 6,3; De 10,12) 2 Und ich will meinen Bund zwischen mir und dir schließen und will dich über alle Maßen mehren. 3 Da fiel Abram auf sein Angesicht. Und Gott redete weiter mit ihm und sprach: 4 Siehe, ich habe meinen Bund mit dir, und du sollst ein Vater vieler Völker werden. 5 Darum sollst du nicht mehr Abram heißen, sondern Abraham soll dein Name sein; denn ich habe dich gemacht zum Vater vieler Völker. (Ro 4,11; Ro 4,17) 6 Und ich will dich sehr fruchtbar machen und will aus dir Völker machen und Könige sollen von dir kommen. 7 Und ich will aufrichten meinen Bund zwischen mir und dir und deinen Nachkommen von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht, dass es ein ewiger Bund sei, sodass ich dein und deiner Nachkommen Gott bin. 8 Und ich will dir und deinem Geschlecht nach dir das Land geben, darin du ein Fremdling bist, das ganze Land Kanaan, zu ewigem Besitz und will ihr Gott sein. (Gen 35,27; At 7,5; Eb 11,9) 9 Und Gott sprach zu Abraham: So halte nun meinen Bund, du und deine Nachkommen von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht. 10 Das aber ist mein Bund, den ihr halten sollt zwischen mir und euch und deinen Nachkommen: Alles, was männlich ist unter euch, soll beschnitten werden; (Le 12,3; Giov 7,22) 11 eure Vorhaut sollt ihr beschneiden. Das soll das Zeichen sein des Bundes zwischen mir und euch. (De 30,6; Ez 20,12; Ro 4,11) 12 Jeden Knaben, wenn er acht Tage alt ist, sollt ihr beschneiden bei euren Nachkommen. Desgleichen auch alles, was an Gesinde im Hause geboren oder was gekauft ist von irgendwelchen Fremden, die nicht aus eurem Geschlecht sind. 13 Beschnitten soll werden alles Gesinde, was dir im Hause geboren oder was gekauft ist. Und so soll mein Bund an eurem Fleisch zu einem ewigen Bund werden. 14 Ein Unbeschnittener aber, der nicht beschnitten wird an seiner Vorhaut, soll ausgerottet werden aus seinem Volk; meinen Bund hat er gebrochen. (Gen 34,15; Le 12,3) 15 Und Gott sprach abermals zu Abraham: Du sollst Sarai, deine Frau, nicht mehr Sarai nennen, sondern Sara soll ihr Name sein. 16 Denn ich will sie segnen, und auch von ihr will ich dir einen Sohn geben; ich will sie segnen, und Völker sollen aus ihr werden und Könige über viele Völker. (Gen 12,2) 17 Da fiel Abraham auf sein Angesicht und lachte und sprach in seinem Herzen: Soll mir mit hundert Jahren ein Kind geboren werden, und soll Sara, neunzig Jahre alt, gebären? (Gen 18,12; Gen 21,6; Lu 1,18; Ro 4,19)

18 Und Abraham sprach zu Gott: Ach dass Ismael möchte leben bleiben vor dir! 19 Da sprach Gott: Nein, Sara, deine Frau, wird dir einen Sohn gebären, den sollst du Isaak nennen, und ich will meinen Bund mit ihm aufrichten als einen ewigen Bund für seine Nachkommen. (Gen 26,3) 20 Und für Ismael habe ich dich auch erhört. Siehe, ich habe ihn gesegnet und will ihn fruchtbar machen und über alle Maßen mehren. Zwölf Fürsten wird er zeugen und ich will ihn zum großen Volk machen. (Gen 16,10; Gen 21,13; Gen 21,18; Gen 25,16)

21 Aber meinen Bund will ich aufrichten mit Isaak, den dir Sara gebären soll um diese Zeit im nächsten Jahr. 22 Und er hörte auf, mit ihm zu reden. Und Gott fuhr auf von Abraham. 23 Da nahm Abraham seinen Sohn Ismael und alle Knechte, die in seinem Hause geboren, und alle, die von ihm gekauft waren, alle Männer im Hause Abrahams, und beschnitt ihre Vorhaut an ebendiesem Tage, wie ihm Gott gesagt hatte. 24 Und Abraham war neunundneunzig Jahre alt, als er seine Vorhaut beschnitt. 25 Ismael aber, sein Sohn, war dreizehn Jahre alt, als seine Vorhaut beschnitten wurde. 26 Eben auf diesen Tag wurden Abraham und sein Sohn Ismael beschnitten. 27 Und alle Männer seines Hauses, im Hause geboren und gekauft von Fremden, wurden mit ihm beschnitten.

1 Cuando Abram tenía noventa y nueve años, el Señor se le apareció y le dijo: —Yo soy el Dios Todopoderoso. Vive en mi presencia y sé intachable. 2 Así confirmaré mi pacto contigo, y multiplicaré tu descendencia en gran manera. 3 Al oír que Dios le hablaba, Abram cayó rostro en tierra, y Dios continuó: 4 —Éste es el pacto que establezco contigo: Tú serás el padre de una multitud de naciones. 5 Ya no te llamarás Abram,^[1] sino que de ahora en adelante tu nombre será Abraham, porque te he confirmado como padre de una multitud de naciones. 6 Te haré tan fecundo que de ti saldrán reyes y naciones. 7 Estableceré mi pacto contigo y con tu descendencia, como pacto perpetuo, por todas las generaciones. Yo seré tu Dios, y el Dios de tus descendientes. 8 A ti y a tu descendencia les daré, en posesión perpetua, toda la tierra de Canaán, donde ahora andan peregrinando. Y yo seré su Dios. 9 Dios también le dijo a Abraham: —Cumple con mi pacto, tú y toda tu descendencia, por todas las generaciones. 10 Y éste es el pacto que establezco contigo y con tu descendencia, y que todos deberán cumplir: Todos los varones entre ustedes deberán ser circuncidados. 11 Circuncidarán la carne de su prepucio, y ésa será la señal del pacto entre nosotros. 12 Todos los varones de cada generación deberán ser circuncidados a los ocho días de nacidos, tanto los niños nacidos en casa como los que hayan sido comprados por dinero a un extranjero y que, por lo tanto, no sean de la estirpe de ustedes. 13 Todos sin excepción, tanto el nacido en casa como el que haya sido comprado por dinero, deberán ser circuncidados. De esta manera mi pacto quedará como una marca indeleble en la carne de ustedes, como un pacto perpetuo. 14 Pero el varón incircunciso, al que no se le haya cortado la carne del prepucio, será eliminado de su pueblo por quebrantar mi pacto. 15 También le dijo Dios a Abraham: —A Saray, tu esposa, ya no la llamarás Saray, sino que su nombre será Sara.^[2] 16 Yo la bendeciré, y por medio de ella te daré un hijo. Tanto la bendeciré, que será madre de naciones, y de ella surgirán reyes de pueblos. 17 Entonces Abraham inclinó el rostro hasta el suelo y se rió de pensar: «¿Acaso puede un hombre tener un hijo a los cien años, y ser madre Sara a los noventa?» 18 Por eso le dijo a Dios: —¡Concédele a Ismael vivir bajo tu bendición! 19 A lo que Dios contestó: —¡Pero es Sara, tu esposa, la que te dará un hijo, al que llamarás Isaac!^[3] Yo estableceré mi pacto con él y con sus descendientes, como pacto perpetuo. 20 En cuanto a Ismael, ya te he escuchado. Yo lo bendeciré, lo haré fecundo y le daré una descendencia numerosa. Él será el padre de doce príncipes. Haré de él una nación muy grande. 21 Pero mi pacto lo estableceré con Isaac, el hijo que te dará Sara de aquí a un año, por estos días. 22 Cuando Dios terminó de hablar con Abraham, se retiró de su presencia. 23 Ese mismo día Abraham tomó a su hijo Ismael, a los criados nacidos en su casa, a los que había comprado con su dinero y a todos los otros varones que había en su casa, y los circuncidó, tal como Dios se lo había mandado. 24 Abraham tenía noventa y nueve años cuando fue circuncidado, 25 mientras que su hijo Ismael tenía trece. 26 Así que ambos fueron circuncidados el mismo día 27 junto con todos los varones de su casa, tanto los nacidos en ella como los comprados a extranjeros.
