Promesse rinnovate ad Abramo

1 Dopo questi fatti, la parola del Signore fu rivolta in visione ad Abramo, dicendo: «Non temere, Abramo, io sono il tuo scudo, e la tua ricompensa sarà grandissima». 2 Abramo disse: «Signore, Dio, che mi darai? Poiché io me ne vado senza figli e l’erede della mia casa è Eliezer di Damasco». 3 E Abramo soggiunse: «Tu non mi hai dato discendenza; ecco, uno schiavo nato in casa mia sarà mio erede». 4 Allora la parola del Signore gli fu rivolta, dicendo: «Questi non sarà tuo erede; ma colui che nascerà da te sarà tuo erede». 5 Poi lo condusse fuori e gli disse: «Guarda il cielo e conta le stelle, se le puoi contare». E soggiunse: «Tale sarà la tua discendenza». 6 Egli credette al Signore, che gli contò questo come giustizia. 7 Il Signore gli disse ancora: «Io sono il Signore che ti ho fatto uscire da Ur dei Caldei per darti questo paese, perché tu lo possegga». 8 Abramo chiese: «Signore, Dio, da che cosa posso conoscere che ne avrò il possesso?» 9 Il Signore gli rispose: «Prendimi una giovenca di tre anni, una capra di tre anni, un montone di tre anni, una tortora e un piccione». 10 Egli prese tutti questi animali, li divise nel mezzo e pose ciascuna metà di fronte all’altra; ma non divise gli uccelli. 11 Or degli uccelli rapaci calarono sulle bestie morte, ma Abramo li scacciò. 12 Al tramonto del sole, un profondo sonno cadde su Abramo; ed ecco uno spavento, un’oscurità profonda cadde su di lui. 13 Il Signore disse ad Abramo: «Sappi per certo che i tuoi discendenti dimoreranno come stranieri in un paese che non sarà loro: saranno fatti schiavi e saranno oppressi per quattrocento anni; 14 ma io giudicherò la nazione di cui saranno stati servi e, dopo questo, se ne partiranno con grandi ricchezze. 15 Quanto a te, te ne andrai in pace presso i tuoi padri e sarai sepolto dopo una prospera vecchiaia. 16 Alla quarta generazione essi torneranno qua; perché l’iniquità degli Amorei non è giunta finora al colmo». 17 Or come il sole fu tramontato e venne la notte scura, ecco una fornace fumante e una fiamma di fuoco passare in mezzo agli animali divisi. 18 In quel giorno il Signore fece un patto con Abramo, dicendo: «Io do alla tua discendenza questo paese, dal fiume d’Egitto al gran fiume, il fiume Eufrate; 19 i Chenei, i Chenizei, i Cadmonei, 20 gli Ittiti, i Ferezei, i Refaim, 21 gli Amorei, i Cananei, i Ghirgasei e i Gebusei.

Gott verheißt Abram einen Sohn und gewährt ihm den Bund

1 Nach diesen Geschichten begab sich’s, dass zu Abram das Wort des HERRN kam in einer Erscheinung: Fürchte dich nicht, Abram! Ich bin dein Schild und dein sehr großer Lohn. (Gen 17,1; Nu 24,4; Nu 24,16; Sal 3,4)

2 Abram sprach aber: Herr HERR, was willst du mir geben? Ich gehe dahin ohne Kinder und mein Knecht Eliëser von Damaskus wird mein Haus besitzen. 3 Und Abram sprach: Mir hast du keine Nachkommen gegeben; und siehe, einer aus meinem Haus wird mein Erbe sein. 4 Und siehe, der HERR sprach zu ihm: Er soll nicht dein Erbe sein, sondern der von deinem Leibe kommen wird, der soll dein Erbe sein. 5 Und er hieß ihn hinausgehen und sprach: Sieh gen Himmel und zähle die Sterne; kannst du sie zählen? Und sprach zu ihm: So zahlreich sollen deine Nachkommen sein! (Gen 22,17; Eso 32,13; De 1,10; Eb 11,12)

6 Abram glaubte dem HERRN, und das rechnete er ihm zur Gerechtigkeit. (Ro 4,3; Giac 2,23) 7 Und er sprach zu ihm: Ich bin der HERR, der dich aus Ur in Chaldäa geführt hat, auf dass ich dir dies Land zu besitzen gebe. (Gen 11,31; Eso 3,14; Is 45,5; Giov 8,24)

8 Abram aber sprach: Herr HERR, woran soll ich merken, dass ich’s besitzen werde? 9 Und er sprach zu ihm: Bringe mir eine dreijährige Kuh, eine dreijährige Ziege, einen dreijährigen Widder, eine Turteltaube und eine andere Taube. 10 Und er brachte ihm dies alles und zerteilte es in der Mitte und legte je einen Teil dem andern gegenüber; aber die Vögel zerteilte er nicht. (Ger 34,18) 11 Und die Raubvögel stießen hernieder auf die Stücke, aber Abram scheuchte sie davon. 12 Als nun die Sonne unterging, fiel ein tiefer Schlaf auf Abram, und siehe, Schrecken und große Finsternis überfiel ihn. (Gen 2,21; 1Sam 26,12; Is 29,10) 13 Da sprach der HERR zu Abram: Das sollst du wissen, dass deine Nachkommen Fremdlinge sein werden in einem Lande, das nicht das ihre ist; und da wird man sie zu dienen zwingen und unterdrücken vierhundert Jahre. (Eso 1,13; Eso 12,40; At 7,6) 14 Aber ich will das Volk richten, dem sie dienen müssen. Danach werden sie ausziehen mit großem Gut. (Eso 3,21; At 7,7) 15 Und du sollst fahren zu deinen Vätern mit Frieden und in gutem Alter begraben werden. (Gen 25,7) 16 Sie aber sollen erst nach vier Menschenaltern wieder hierher kommen; denn die Missetat der Amoriter ist noch nicht voll. (At 7,7) 17 Als nun die Sonne untergegangen und es finster geworden war, siehe, da war ein rauchender Ofen, und eine brennende Fackel fuhr zwischen den Stücken hin. (Gen 10,1; Eso 19,18) 18 An dem Tage schloss der HERR einen Bund mit Abram und sprach: Deinen Nachkommen gebe ich dies Land von dem Strom Ägyptens an bis an den großen Strom, den Euphrat: (Gen 12,7; 1Re 5,1; 1Re 8,65) 19 die Keniter, die Kenasiter, die Kadmoniter, 20 die Hetiter, die Perisiter, die Refaïter, 21 die Amoriter, die Kanaaniter, die Girgaschiter, die Jebusiter.

1 After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward. 2 And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus? 3 And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir. 4 And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir. 5 And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. 6 And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness. 7 And he said unto him, I am the LORD that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it. 8 And he said, Lord GOD, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it? 9 And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon. 10 And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not. 11 And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away. 12 And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him. 13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; 14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance. 15 And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age. 16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full. 17 And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces. 18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates: 19 The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites, 20 And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims, 21 And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.

Dios hace un pacto con Abram

1 Después de esto, la palabra del Señor vino a Abram en una visión: «No temas, Abram. Yo soy tu escudo, y muy grande será tu recompensa.» 2 Pero Abram le respondió: —Señor y Dios, ¿para qué vas a darme algo, si aún sigo sin tener hijos, y el heredero^[1] de mis bienes será Eliezer de Damasco? 3 Como no me has dado ningún hijo, mi herencia la recibirá uno de mis criados. 4 —¡No! Ese hombre no ha de ser tu heredero —le contestó el Señor—. Tu heredero será tu propio hijo. 5 Luego el Señor lo llevó afuera y le dijo: —Mira hacia el cielo y cuenta las estrellas, a ver si puedes. ¡Así de numerosa será tu descendencia! 6 Abram creyó al Señor, y el Señor lo reconoció a él como justo. 7 Además, le dijo: —Yo soy el Señor, que te hice salir de Ur de los caldeos para darte en posesión esta tierra. 8 Pero Abram le preguntó: —Señor y Dios, ¿cómo sabré que voy a poseerla? 9 El Señor le respondió: —Tráeme una ternera, una cabra y un carnero, todos ellos de tres años, y también una tórtola y un pichón de paloma. 10 Abram llevó todos estos animales, los partió por la mitad, y puso una mitad frente a la otra, pero a las aves no las partió. 11 Y las aves de rapiña comenzaron a lanzarse sobre los animales muertos, pero Abram las espantaba. 12 Al anochecer, Abram cayó en un profundo sueño, y lo envolvió una oscuridad aterradora. 13 El Señor le dijo: —Debes saber que tus descendientes vivirán como extranjeros en tierra extraña, donde serán esclavizados y maltratados durante cuatrocientos años. 14 Pero yo castigaré a la nación que los esclavizará, y luego tus descendientes saldrán en libertad y con grandes riquezas. 15 Tú, en cambio, te reunirás en paz con tus antepasados, y te enterrarán cuando ya seas muy anciano. 16 Cuatro generaciones después tus descendientes volverán a este lugar, porque antes de eso no habrá llegado al colmo la iniquidad de los amorreos. 17 Cuando el sol se puso y cayó la noche, aparecieron una hornilla humeante y una antorcha encendida, las cuales pasaban entre los animales descuartizados. 18 En aquel día el Señor hizo un pacto con Abram. Le dijo: —A tus descendientes les daré esta tierra, desde el río de Egipto hasta el gran río, el Éufrates. 19 Me refiero a la tierra de los quenitas, los quenizitas, los cadmoneos, 20 los hititas, los ferezeos, los refaítas, 21 los amorreos, los cananeos, los gergeseos y los jebuseos.
