Davide salva Cheila dalle mani dei Filistei

1 Vennero a dire a Davide: «Ecco, i Filistei hanno attaccato Cheila e saccheggiato le aie». 2 E Davide consultò il Signore, dicendo: «Devo andare a sconfiggere questi Filistei?» Il Signore rispose a Davide: «Va’, sconfiggi i Filistei e salva Cheila». 3 Ma la gente di Davide gli disse: «Tu vedi che già qui in Giuda abbiamo paura; che sarà di noi, se andiamo a Cheila contro le schiere dei Filistei? 4 Davide consultò di nuovo il Signore, e il Signore gli rispose e gli disse: «Àlzati, scendi a Cheila, perché io darò i Filistei nelle tue mani». 5 Davide dunque andò con la sua gente a Cheila, combatté contro i Filistei, portò via il loro bestiame e inflisse loro una grande sconfitta. Così Davide liberò gli abitanti di Cheila. 6 Quando Abiatar, figlio di Aimelec, si rifugiò presso Davide a Cheila, portò con sé l’efod. 7 Saul fu informato che Davide era giunto a Cheila. Saul disse: «Dio lo dà nelle mie mani, poiché è venuto a rinchiudersi in una città che ha porte e sbarre». 8 Saul dunque convocò tutto il popolo per andare alla guerra, per scendere a Cheila e cingere d’assedio Davide e la sua gente. 9 Ma Davide, avendo saputo che Saul tramava del male contro di lui, disse al sacerdote Abiatar: «Porta qua l’efod». 10 Poi disse: «Signore, Dio d’Israele, il tuo servo ha sentito come cosa certa che Saul cerca di venire a Cheila per distruggere la città a causa mia. 11 Gli abitanti di Cheila mi daranno nelle sue mani? Saul scenderà davvero come il tuo servo ha sentito dire? Signore, Dio d’Israele, fallo sapere al tuo servo!» Il Signore rispose: «Scenderà». 12 Davide chiese ancora: «Gli abitanti di Cheila daranno me e la mia gente nelle mani di Saul?» Il Signore rispose: «Vi daranno nelle sue mani».

Davide nel deserto di Zif e di Maon

13 Allora Davide e la sua gente, circa seicento uomini, partirono, uscirono da Cheila e andarono qua e là a caso; e Saul, informato che Davide era fuggito da Cheila, rinunciò alla sua spedizione. 14 Davide rimase nel deserto, in luoghi sicuri; se ne stette nella regione montuosa del deserto di Zif. Saul lo cercava continuamente, ma Dio non glielo diede nelle mani. 15 Davide, sapendo che Saul si era mosso per togliergli la vita, restò nel deserto di Zif, nella foresta. 16 Allora Gionatan, figlio di Saul, si alzò e andò da Davide nella foresta. Egli fortificò la sua fiducia in Dio 17 e gli disse: «Non temere; poiché Saul, mio padre, non riuscirà a metterti le mani addosso. Tu regnerai sopra Israele, io sarò il secondo dopo di te; e lo sa bene anche Saul, mio padre». 18 I due fecero alleanza in presenza del Signore; poi Davide rimase nella foresta e Gionatan andò a casa sua. 19 Gli Zifei salirono da Saul a Ghibea e gli dissero: «Davide è nascosto fra noi, nei luoghi sicuri della foresta, sul colle di Achila, che è a mezzogiorno del deserto. 20 Scendi dunque, o re, poiché questo è ciò che tu desideri con tutto il cuore, e penseremo noi a darlo nelle mani del re». 21 Saul disse: «Siate benedetti dal Signore, voi che avete pietà di me! 22 Andate, vi prego, informatevi con più certezza per sapere e scoprire il luogo dove abitualmente si ferma e chi lo abbia visto là; poiché mi dicono che egli è molto astuto. 23 Vedete di conoscere tutti i nascondigli dove egli si rifugia; poi tornate da me con notizie certe e io verrò con voi. Se egli è nel paese, io lo cercherò fra tutte le migliaia di Giuda». 24 Quelli dunque partirono e se ne andarono a Zif, precedendo Saul; ma Davide e i suoi erano nel deserto di Maon, nella pianura a mezzogiorno del deserto. 25 Saul con la sua gente partì in cerca di lui; ma Davide, che ne fu informato, scese dalla roccia e rimase nel deserto di Maon. Quando Saul lo seppe, andò in cerca di Davide nel deserto di Maon. 26 Saul camminava da un lato del monte e Davide con la sua gente dall’altro lato; e come Davide affrettava la marcia per sfuggire a Saul, e Saul e la sua gente stavano per circondare Davide e i suoi per impadronirsene, 27 arrivò a Saul un messaggero che disse: «Affrèttati a venire, perché i Filistei hanno invaso il paese». 28 Così Saul smise di inseguire Davide e andò ad affrontare i Filistei; perciò quel luogo fu chiamato Sela-Ammalecot^[1].

David in Keïla

1 Und es wurde David angesagt: Siehe, die Philister kämpfen gegen Keïla und berauben die Tennen. (Gios 15,44) 2 Da befragte David den HERRN und sprach: Soll ich hinziehen und diese Philister schlagen? Und der HERR sprach zu David: Zieh hin, schlage die Philister und errette Keïla! (1Sam 14,37; 1Sam 30,8; 2Sam 2,1) 3 Aber die Männer Davids sprachen zu ihm: Siehe, wir fürchten uns schon hier in Juda und wollen nun hinziehen nach Keïla gegen die Schlachtreihen der Philister? 4 Da befragte David wieder den HERRN, und der HERR antwortete ihm und sprach: Auf, zieh hinab nach Keïla, denn ich will die Philister in deine Hand geben! 5 So zog David mit seinen Männern nach Keïla und kämpfte gegen die Philister und trieb ihnen ihr Vieh weg und schlug sie hart. So errettete David die Leute von Keïla. 6 Als aber Abjatar, der Sohn Ahimelechs, zu David nach Keïla floh, brachte er den Efod mit sich herab. (Eso 28,6; Giudic 8,27; 1Sam 22,20) 7 Da wurde Saul angesagt, dass David nach Keïla gekommen wäre, und Saul dachte: Gott hat ihn in meine Hand gegeben, denn er ist eingeschlossen, nun er in eine Stadt mit Toren und Riegeln gekommen ist. 8 Und Saul ließ das ganze Kriegsvolk aufrufen, zum Kampf hinabzuziehen nach Keïla, dass sie David und seine Männer belagerten. 9 Als aber David merkte, dass Saul Böses gegen ihn im Sinne hatte, sprach er zu dem Priester Abjatar: Bringe den Efod her! (1Sam 30,7) 10 Und David sprach: HERR, Gott Israels, dein Knecht hat gehört, dass Saul danach trachtet, nach Keïla zu ziehen, die Stadt zu verderben um meinetwillen. 11 Werden mich die Bürger von Keïla ihm überantworten? Und wird Saul herabkommen, wie dein Knecht gehört hat? Das verkünde, HERR, Gott Israels, deinem Knecht! Und der HERR sprach: Er wird herabkommen. 12 David fragte weiter: Werden die Bürger von Keïla mich und meine Männer Saul überantworten? Der HERR sprach: Ja. 13 Da machte sich David auf samt seinen Männern, etwa sechshundert, und sie zogen fort von Keïla und streiften da und dort umher. Als nun Saul angesagt wurde, dass David aus Keïla entronnen war, stand er ab von seinem Zuge.

David in der Wüste Sif

14 David aber blieb in der Wüste auf den Bergfesten; er blieb im Gebirge in der Wüste Sif. Und Saul suchte ihn die ganze Zeit; aber Gott gab ihn nicht in seine Hand. 15 Und als David sah, dass Saul ausgezogen war, um ihm nach dem Leben zu trachten, blieb er in der Wüste Sif in Horescha. 16 Da machte sich Jonatan, Sauls Sohn, auf und ging hin zu David nach Horescha und stärkte sein Vertrauen auf Gott 17 und sprach zu ihm: Fürchte dich nicht! Sauls, meines Vaters, Hand wird dich nicht finden, und du wirst König werden über Israel, und ich werde der Zweite nach dir sein; das weiß auch Saul, mein Vater. (1Sam 20,30; 1Sam 22,3; 1Sam 24,21) 18 Und sie schlossen beide einen Bund miteinander vor dem HERRN. David blieb in Horescha, aber Jonatan zog wieder heim. (1Sam 18,3) 19 Aber die Sifiter zogen hinauf zu Saul nach Gibea und sprachen: David hält sich bei uns verborgen auf den Bergfesten in Horescha auf dem Hügel Hachila, der südlich von Jeschimon liegt. (1Sam 26,1; Sal 54,2) 20 Ist’s nun, König, deines Herzens Verlangen hinabzukommen, so komm; wir wollen ihn dem König überantworten. 21 Da sprach Saul: Gesegnet seid ihr vom HERRN, dass ihr euch meiner erbarmt habt! 22 So geht nun und gebt weiter acht, dass ihr wisst und seht, an welchem Ort sein Fuß weilt und wer ihn dort gesehen hat; denn man hat mir gesagt, dass er sehr listig ist. 23 Beobachtet und erkundet jeden versteckten Ort, wo er sich verkriecht, und kommt wieder zu mir, wenn ihr’s gewiss seid, so will ich mit euch ziehen. Ist er im Lande, so will ich ihn aufspüren unter allen Tausendschaften Judas. 24 Da machten sie sich auf und gingen vor Saul her nach Sif. David aber und seine Männer waren in der Wüste Maon, in der Steppe südlich von Jeschimon. (Gios 15,55) 25 Als nun Saul hinzog mit seinen Männern, David zu suchen, wurde es David angesagt. Und er ging zu dem Felsen hinab und blieb in der Wüste Maon. Als das Saul hörte, jagte er David nach in die Wüste Maon. 26 Und Saul ging auf der einen Seite eines Berges, David mit seinen Männern auf der andern Seite des Berges. Als David aber eilte, Saul zu entgehen, da umstellte Saul samt seinen Männern David und seine Männer, um sie zu fangen. 27 Aber es kam ein Bote zu Saul und sprach: Komm eilends, denn die Philister sind ins Land eingefallen. 28 Da ließ Saul davon ab, David nachzujagen, und zog hin, den Philistern entgegen. Daher nennt man den Ort Sela-Machlekot^[1].

1 Then they told David, saying, Behold, the Philistines fight against Keilah, and they rob the threshingfloors. 2 Therefore David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the LORD said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah. 3 And David' men said unto him, Behold, we be afraid here in Judah: how much more then if we come to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines? 4 Then David enquired of the LORD yet again. And the LORD answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into thine hand. 5 So David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and smote them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah. 6 And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand. 7 And it was told Saul that David was come to Keilah. And Saul said, God hath delivered him into mine hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that hath gates and bars. 8 And Saul called all the people together to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men. 9 And David knew that Saul secretly practised mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod. 10 Then said David, O LORD God of Israel, thy servant hath certainly heard that Saul seeketh to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake. 11 Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O LORD God of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy servant. And the LORD said, He will come down. 12 Then said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul? And the LORD said, They will deliver thee up. 13 Then David and his men, which were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah, and went whithersoever they could go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Keilah; and he forbare to go forth. 14 And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand. 15 And David saw that Saul was come out to seek his life: and David was in the wilderness of Ziph in a wood. 16 And Jonathan Saul' son arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God. 17 And he said unto him, Fear not: for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee; and thou shalt be king over Israel, and I shall be next unto thee; and that also Saul my father knoweth. 18 And they two made a covenant before the LORD: and David abode in the wood, and Jonathan went to his house. 19 Then came up the Ziphites to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself with us in strong holds in the wood, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon? 20 Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of thy soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him into the king' hand. 21 And Saul said, Blessed be ye of the LORD; for ye have compassion on me. 22 Go, I pray you, prepare yet, and know and see his place where his haunt is, and who hath seen him there: for it is told me that he dealeth very subtilly. 23 See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking places where he hideth himself, and come ye again to me with the certainty, and I will go with you: and it shall come to pass, if he be in the land, that I will search him out throughout all the thousands of Judah. 24 And they arose, and went to Ziph before Saul: but David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the plain on the south of Jeshimon. 25 Saul also and his men went to seek him . And they told David: wherefore he came down into a rock, and abode in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that , he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon. 26 And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them. 27 But there came a messenger unto Saul, saying, Haste thee, and come; for the Philistines have invaded the land. 28 Wherefore Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines: therefore they called that place Selahammahlekoth. 29 And David went up from thence, and dwelt in strong holds at Engedi.

David libera la ciudad de Queilá

1 Los filisteos atacaron la ciudad de Queilá y saquearon los graneros. Cuando David se enteró de lo sucedido, 2 consultó al Señor: —¿Debo ir a luchar contra los filisteos? —Ve —respondió el Señor—, lucha contra los filisteos y libera a Queilá. 3 Pero los soldados le dijeron a David: —Si aun aquí en Judá vivimos con miedo, ¡cuánto más si vamos a Queilá para atacar al ejército filisteo! 4 David volvió a consultar al Señor, y él le respondió: —Ponte en camino y ve a Queilá, que voy a entregar en tus manos a los filisteos. 5 Así que David y sus hombres fueron allá y lucharon contra los filisteos, derrotándolos por completo. David se apoderó de los ganados de los filisteos y rescató a los habitantes de la ciudad. 6 Ahora bien, cuando Abiatar hijo de Ajimélec huyó a Queilá para refugiarse con David, se llevó consigo el efod.

Saúl persigue a David

7 Cuando le contaron a Saúl que David había ido a Queilá, exclamó: «¡Dios me lo ha entregado! David se ha metido en una ciudad con puertas y cerrojos, y no tiene escapatoria.» 8 Entonces convocó a todo su ejército para ir a combatir a David y a sus hombres, y sitiar la ciudad de Queilá. 9 David se enteró de que Saúl tramaba su destrucción. Por tanto, le ordenó a Abiatar que le llevara el efod. 10 Luego David oró: —Oh Señor, Dios de Israel, yo, tu siervo, sé muy bien que por mi culpa Saúl se propone venir a Queilá para destruirla. 11 ¿Me entregarán los habitantes de esta ciudad en manos de Saúl? ¿Es verdad que Saúl vendrá, según me han dicho? Yo te ruego, Señor, Dios de Israel, que me lo hagas saber. —Sí, vendrá —le respondió el Señor. 12 David volvió a preguntarle: —¿Nos entregarán los habitantes de Queilá a mí y a mis hombres en manos de Saúl? Y el Señor le contestó: —Sí, los entregarán. 13 Entonces David y sus hombres, que eran como seiscientos, se fueron de Queilá y anduvieron de un lugar a otro. Cuando le contaron a Saúl que David se había ido de Queilá, decidió suspender la campaña. 14 David se estableció en los refugios del desierto, en los áridos cerros de Zif. Día tras día Saúl lo buscaba, pero Dios no lo entregó en sus manos. 15 Estando David en Hores, en el desierto de Zif, se enteró de que Saúl había salido en su busca con la intención de matarlo. 16 Jonatán hijo de Saúl fue a ver a David en Hores, y lo animó a seguir confiando en Dios. 17 «No tengas miedo —le dijo—, que mi padre no podrá atraparte. Tú vas a ser el rey de Israel, y yo seré tu segundo. Esto, hasta mi padre lo sabe.» 18 Entonces los dos hicieron un pacto en presencia del Señor, después de lo cual Jonatán regresó a su casa y David se quedó en Hores. 19 Los habitantes de Zif fueron a Guibeá y le dijeron a Saúl: —¿No sabe Su Majestad que David se ha escondido en nuestro territorio? Está en el monte de Jaquilá, en los refugios de Hores, al sur del desierto. 20 Cuando Su Majestad tenga a bien venir, entregaremos a David en sus manos. 21 —¡Que el Señor los bendiga por tenerme tanta consideración! —respondió Saúl—. 22 Vayan y averigüen bien por dónde anda y quién lo ha visto, pues me han dicho que es muy astuto. 23 Infórmense bien de todos los lugares donde se esconde, y tráiganme datos precisos. Entonces yo iré con ustedes, y si es verdad que está en esa región, lo buscaré entre todos los clanes de Judá. 24 Los de Zif se despidieron de Saúl y volvieron a su tierra. Mientras tanto, David y sus hombres se encontraban en el desierto de Maón, en el Arabá, al sur del desierto. 25 Cuando le avisaron a David que Saúl y sus hombres venían en su búsqueda, bajó al peñasco del desierto de Maón. Al enterarse de esto, Saúl dirigió la persecución hacia ese lugar. 26 Saúl avanzaba por un costado del monte, mientras que David y sus hombres iban por el otro, apresurándose para escapar. Pero Saúl y sus hombres lo tenían rodeado. Ya estaban a punto de atraparlo, 27 cuando un mensajero llegó y le dijo a Saúl: «¡Apresúrese, Su Majestad, que los filisteos están saqueando el país!» 28 Saúl dejó entonces de perseguir a David y volvió para enfrentarse con los filisteos. Por eso aquel sitio se llama Sela Hamajlecot.^[1] 29 Luego David se fue de allí para establecerse en los refugios de Engadi.
