Se il Signore non fosse stato in nostro favore, – lo dica pure Israele –2se il Signore non fosse stato in nostro favore, quando gli uomini ci assalirono,3essi ci avrebbero inghiottiti vivi, talmente erano furiosi contro di noi.4Allora le acque ci avrebbero sommersi, il torrente sarebbe passato sull’anima nostra;5allora sarebbero passate sull’anima nostra le acque tempestose.6Benedetto sia il Signore che non ci ha abbandonati in preda ai loro denti!7L’anima nostra è scampata come un uccello dal laccio dei cacciatori: il laccio è stato spezzato e noi siamo scampati.8Il nostro aiuto è nel nome del Signore, che ha fatto il cielo e la terra.
