Territorio toccato a Efraim

1 La parte toccata in sorte ai figli di Giuseppe si estendeva dal Giordano presso Gerico, verso le acque di Gerico a oriente, seguendo il deserto che sale da Gerico a Betel per la regione montuosa. 

2 Il confine continuava poi da Betel a Luz e passava per la frontiera degli Architi ad Atarot, 

3 scendeva a occidente verso il confine dei Giafletei sino al confine di Bet-Oron inferiore e fino a Ghezer, e terminava al mare. 

4 I figli di Giuseppe, Manasse ed Efraim, ebbero ciascuno la loro eredità. 

5 Questi furono i confini dei figli di Efraim, secondo le loro famiglie. Il confine della loro eredità era, a oriente, Aterot-Addar, fino a Bet-Oron superiore; 

6 continuava, dal lato di occidente, verso Micmetat al nord, girava a oriente verso Taanat-Silo e le passava davanti, a oriente di Ianoà. 

7 Poi da Ianoà scendeva ad Aterot e a Naara, toccava Gerico, e terminava al Giordano. 

8 Da Tappuà il confine andava verso occidente fino al torrente di Cana e terminava al mare. Tale fu l’eredità della tribù dei figli di Efraim, secondo le loro famiglie. 

9 In più, c’erano le città, tutte città con i loro villaggi, messe da parte per i figli di Efraim in mezzo all’eredità dei figli di Manasse. 

10 Essi non scacciarono i Cananei che abitavano a Ghezer; e i Cananei hanno abitato in mezzo a Efraim fino a oggi, ma sono stati soggetti a servitù.

The Allotment for Ephraim and Manasseh

1 The allotment of the people of Joseph went from the Jordan by Jericho, east of the waters of Jericho, into the wilderness, going up from Jericho into the hill country to Bethel. (Gios 8,15; Gios 18,12) 

2 Then going from Bethel to Luz, it passes along to Ataroth, the territory of the Archites. (Gen 28,19; Gios 18,13; Giudic 1,23; Giudic 1,26) 

3 Then it goes down westward to the territory of the Japhletites, as far as the territory of Lower Beth-horon, then to Gezer, and it ends at the sea. (Gios 10,10; Gios 10,33) 

4 The people of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, received their inheritance. (Gios 17,14) 

5 The territory of the people of Ephraim by their clans was as follows: the boundary of their inheritance on the east was Ataroth-addar as far as Upper Beth-horon, (Gios 18,13) 

6 and the boundary goes from there to the sea. On the north is Michmethath. Then on the east the boundary turns around toward Taanath-shiloh and passes along beyond it on the east to Janoah, (Gios 17,7) 

7 then it goes down from Janoah to Ataroth and to Naarah, and touches Jericho, ending at the Jordan. (1Cr 7,28) 

8 From Tappuah the boundary goes westward to the brook Kanah and ends at the sea. Such is the inheritance of the tribe of the people of Ephraim by their clans, (Gios 17,8) 

9 together with the towns that were set apart for the people of Ephraim within the inheritance of the Manassites, all those towns with their villages. (Gios 16,8) 

10 However, they did not drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer, so the Canaanites have lived in the midst of Ephraim to this day but have been made to do forced labor. (Gen 49,15; Gios 17,13; Giudic 1,29; 1Re 9,16)
