Salmo 142

1 Cantico di Davide, quando era nella spelonca. Preghiera.

(Sal 9,14; Sal 143,11)

1 A Maskil[1] of David, when he was in the cave. A Prayer. With my voice I cry out to the Lord; with my voice I plead for mercy to the Lord. (Sal 3,4; Sal 30,8; Sal 57,1)2 I pour out my complaint before him; I tell my trouble before him. (Sal 102,1; Is 26,16)3 When my spirit faints within me, you know my way! In the path where I walk they have hidden a trap for me. (Sal 77,3; Sal 140,5)4 Look to the right and see: there is none who takes notice of me; no refuge remains to me; no one cares for my soul. (Giob 11,20; Sal 16,8; Sal 31,11; Sal 69,20; Ger 25,35)5 I cry to you, O Lord; I say, “You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.” (Sal 14,6; Sal 16,5; Sal 27,13)6 Attend to my cry, for I am brought very low! Deliver me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me! (Sal 17,1; Sal 18,17; Sal 79,8)7 Bring me out of prison, that I may give thanks to your name! The righteous will surround me, for you will deal bountifully with me. (Sal 13,6; Sal 143,11; Is 42,7)

Salmo 142

King James Version

1 Maschil of David; A Prayer when he was in the cave. I cried unto the LORD with my voice; with my voice unto the LORD did I make my supplication.2 I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.3 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.4 I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.5 I cried unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.6 Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.7 Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.
