1 Wer im Schutz des Höchsten lebt, der findet Ruhe im Schatten des Allmächtigen. (Jes 25,4; Jes 32,2) 2 Der spricht zu dem HERRN: »Du bist meine Zuflucht und meine Burg, mein Gott, dem ich vertraue.« (Ps 18,3; Ps 142,6; Jer 16,19) 3 Denn er wird dich vor allen Gefahren bewahren und dich in Todesnot beschützen. (2Chr 20,9; Ps 124,7) 4 Er wird dich mit seinen Flügeln bedecken, und du findest bei ihm Zuflucht. Seine Treue schützt dich wie ein großer Schild. (Ps 35,2; Ps 57,2; Ps 63,7) 5 Fürchte dich nicht vor den Angriffen in der Nacht und habe keine Angst vor den Gefahren des Tages, (Hi 5,19; Ps 23,4) 6 vor der Pest, die im Dunkeln lauert, vor der Seuche, die dich am hellen Tag trifft. (Hi 5,22) 7 Wenn neben dir auch Tausende sterben, wenn um dich herum Zehntausende fallen, kann dir doch nichts geschehen. 8 Du wirst es mit eigenen Augen sehen, du wirst sehen, wie Gott die Gottlosen bestraft. (Ps 37,34) 9 Wenn der HERR deine Zuflucht ist, wenn du beim Höchsten Schutz suchst, 10 dann wird das Böse dir nichts anhaben können, und kein Unglück wird dein Haus erreichen. (Spr 12,21) 11 Denn er befiehlt seinen Engeln, dich zu beschützen, wo immer du gehst. (Ps 34,8; Mt 4,6; Lk 4,9) 12 Auf Händen tragen sie dich, damit du deinen Fuß nicht an einen Stein stößt. 13 Löwen und giftige Schlangen wirst du zertreten, wilde Löwen und Schlangen wirst du mit deinen Füßen niedertreten! (Ri 14,6; Lk 10,19) 14 Der HERR spricht: »Ich will den erretten, der mich liebt. Ich will den beschützen, der auf meinen Namen vertraut. 15 Wenn er zu mir ruft, will ich antworten. Ich will ihm in der Not beistehen und ihn retten und zu Ehren bringen. (1Sam 2,30; Ps 50,15; Joh 12,26) 16 Ich will ihm ein langes Leben schenken und ihn meine Hilfe erfahren lassen.«

1 Whoever rests in the shadow of the Most High God will be kept safe by the Mighty One. 2 I will say about the LORD, ‘He is my place of safety. He is like a fort to me. He is my God. I trust in him.’ 3 He will certainly save you from hidden traps and from deadly disease. 4 He will cover you with his wings. Under the feathers of his wings you will find safety. He is faithful. He will keep you safe like a shield or a tower. 5 You won’t have to be afraid of the terrors that come during the night. You won’t have to fear the arrows that come at you during the day. 6 You won’t have to be afraid of the disease that attacks in the darkness. You won’t have to fear the plague that destroys at noon. 7 A thousand may fall dead at your side. Ten thousand may fall near your right hand. But no harm will come to you. 8 You will see with your own eyes how God punishes sinful people. 9 Suppose you say, ‘The LORD is the one who keeps me safe.’ Suppose you let the Most High God be like a home to you. 10 Then no harm will come to you. No terrible plague will come near your tent. 11 The LORD will command his angels to take good care of you. 12 They will lift you up in their hands. Then you won’t trip over a stone. 13 You will walk on lions and cobras. You will crush mighty lions and poisonous snakes. 14 The LORD says, ‘I will save the one who loves me. I will keep him safe, because he trusts in me. 15 He will call out to me, and I will answer him. I will be with him in times of trouble. I will save him and honour him. 16 I will give him a long and full life. I will save him.’

My Refuge and My Fortress
