1Ein Psalm Davids. Der HERR ist mein Licht und mein Heil – vor wem sollte ich mich fürchten? Der HERR beschützt mich vor Gefahr – vor wem sollte ich erschrecken? (Ps 18,29; Ps 118,6)2Wenn böse Menschen kommen, um mich zu vernichten, wenn meine Feinde und Verfolger mich angreifen, dann werden sie stolpern und stürzen.3Ein mächtiges Heer umzingelt mich, dennoch fürchte ich mich nicht. Auch wenn sie mich angreifen, bleibe ich voller Zuversicht. (Ps 3,7; Ps 14,4)4Eine einzige Bitte habe ich an den HERRN: Ich sehne mich danach, solange ich lebe, im Haus des HERRN zu sein, um seine Freundlichkeit zu sehen und in seinem Tempel still zu werden. (Ps 23,6; Ps 26,8)5Denn er wird mich aufnehmen, wenn schlechte Zeiten kommen, und mir in seinem Heiligtum Schutz geben. Er wird mich auf einen hohen Berg stellen, wo mich niemand erreichen kann. (Ps 17,9; Ps 31,21)6Dann werde ich über meine Feinde, die mich umzingeln, triumphieren. Jubelnd will ich ihm Opfer darbringen und den HERRN loben und ihm singen. (Ps 13,6; Ps 107,22)7Hör meine Bitten, HERR. Sei barmherzig und erhöre mich! (Ps 13,4)8Ich erinnere mich, dass du gesagt hast: »Suchet meine Nähe.« Und ich habe geantwortet: »HERR, dich suche ich.« (Ps 105,4)9Verbirg dich nicht vor mir und verstoße deinen Knecht nicht im Zorn! Du hast mir immer geholfen, darum verlass mich jetzt nicht. Gott, mein Retter, lass mich nicht im Stich! (Ps 6,2; Ps 40,18; Ps 69,18; Ps 94,14)10Wenn selbst Vater und Mutter mich verlassen, wird doch der HERR mich aufnehmen. (Jes 40,11; Jes 49,15)11HERR, zeige mir, wie ich leben soll, und führe mich den Weg, der richtig ist, denn meine Feinde warten nur darauf, dass ich falle. (Ps 5,9; Ps 25,4; Ps 86,11)12Gib mich nicht in ihre Hände, denn sie beschuldigen mich vieler Dinge, die ich nicht getan habe, und werden mir Grausames antun. (Ps 35,11; Mt 26,60; Apg 9,1)13Doch ich vertraue fest darauf, dass ich noch sehen werde, wie gut Gott ist, solange ich lebe. (Ps 116,9; Ps 142,6; Jes 38,11)14Vertraue auf den HERRN! Sei mutig und tapfer und hoffe geduldig auf den HERRN! (Ps 31,25; Ps 37,34)
1The LORD is my light, and he saves me. Why should I fear anyone? The LORD is my place of safety. Why should I be afraid?2My enemies are evil. They will trip and fall when they attack me and try to swallow me up.3Even if an army attacks me, my heart will not be afraid. Even if war breaks out against me, I will still trust in God.4I’m asking the LORD for only one thing. Here is what I want. I want to live in the house of the LORD all the days of my life. I want to look at the beauty of the LORD. I want to worship him in his temple.5When I’m in trouble, he will keep me safe in his house. He will hide me in the safety of his holy tent. He will put me on a rock that is very high.6Then I will win the battle over my enemies who are all around me. At his holy tent I will offer my sacrifice with shouts of joy. I will sing and make music to the LORD.7LORD, hear my voice when I call out to you. Treat me with kindness and answer me.8My heart says, ‘Seek him!’ LORD, I will seek you.9Don’t turn your face away from me. Don’t turn me away because you are angry. You have helped me. God my Saviour, don’t say no to me. Don’t desert me.10My father and mother may desert me, but the LORD will accept me.11LORD, teach me your ways. Lead me along a straight path. There are many people who treat me badly.12My enemies want to harm me. So don’t turn me over to them. Witnesses who tell lies are rising up against me. They say all sorts of evil things about me.13Here is something I am still sure of. I will see the LORD’s goodness while I’m still alive.14Wait for the LORD. Be strong and don’t lose hope. Wait for the LORD.
