1Bel bows down, Nebo stoops low; their idols are borne by beasts of burden.[1] The images that are carried about are burdensome, a burden for the weary.2They stoop and bow down together; unable to rescue the burden, they themselves go off into captivity.3‘Listen to me, you descendants of Jacob, all the remnant of the people of Israel, you whom I have upheld since your birth, and have carried since you were born.4Even to your old age and grey hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.5‘With whom will you compare me or count me equal? To whom will you liken me that we may be compared?6Some pour out gold from their bags and weigh out silver on the scales; they hire a goldsmith to make it into a god, and they bow down and worship it.7They lift it to their shoulders and carry it; they set it up in its place, and there it stands. From that spot it cannot move. Even though someone cries out to it, it cannot answer; it cannot save them from their troubles.8‘Remember this, keep it in mind, take it to heart, you rebels.9Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me.10I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, “My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.”11From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfil my purpose. What I have said, that I will bring about; what I have planned, that I will do.12Listen to me, you stubborn-hearted, you who are now far from my righteousness.13I am bringing my righteousness near, it is not far away; and my salvation will not be delayed. I will grant salvation to Zion, my splendour to Israel.
1Bel se apleacă, Nebo se îndoaie. Idolii lor sunt puși pe animale și pe vite; idolii pe care‑i purtați sunt o povară pentru animalele obosite.2Se îndoaie, se apleacă împreună; nu pot să salveze povara, ei înșiși mergând în captivitate.3„Ascultați‑Mă, Casă a lui Iacov și întreaga rămășiță a Casei lui Israel, voi, cei pe care v‑am purtat încă de la naștere, cei pe care v‑am ridicat de la pântec!4Până la bătrânețea voastră Eu voi fi Același, până veți încărunți vă voi purta. Eu v‑am făcut și Eu vă voi sprijini; vă voi purta și vă voi scăpa.5Cu cine Mă veți asemăna și Mă veți face deopotrivă? Cu cine Mă veți compara ca să ne asemănăm?6Unii varsă aurul din sac, și cântăresc argintul în cumpănă, angajează un rafinor, care‑l preface într‑un dumnezeu, apoi se închină și se pleacă înaintea lui.7Îl pun pe umeri și‑l poartă, îl așază la locul lui și acolo rămâne; nu se poate mișca de la locul lui. Dacă cineva strigă la el, nu‑i răspunde, nici nu‑l izbăvește din necaz.8Amintiți‑vă acest lucru și luați‑l în seamă[1]! Gândiți‑vă din nou la el, răzvrătiților!9Amintiți‑vă lucrurile de la început, din vechime, căci Eu sunt Dumnezeu, nu este altul! Eu sunt Dumnezeu, nu este altul ca Mine!10Eu fac cunoscut de la început sfârșitul și, din vremuri străvechi, descopăr lucrurile care încă nu s‑au întâmplat, zicând: «Planul Meu rămâne să se împlinească; voi face tot ceea ce doresc!»11Eu chem de la răsărit o pasăre de pradă și, dintr‑o țară îndepărtată, aduc omul care Îmi va împlini planul. Ce am spus voi duce la îndeplinire și ce am plănuit voi face.12Ascultați‑Mă, oameni cu inima îndârjită, voi, care sunteți departe de dreptate!13Îmi aduc aproape dreptatea; ea nu este departe, iar mântuirea Mea nu va întârzia. Voi pune în Sion mântuirea, voi da Israelului măreția Mea.
