1See now, the Lord, the Lord Almighty, is about to take from Jerusalem and Judah both supply and support: all supplies of food and all supplies of water,2the hero and the warrior, the judge and the prophet, the diviner and the elder,3the captain of fifty and the man of rank, the counsellor, skilled craftsman and clever enchanter.4‘I will make mere youths their officials; children will rule over them.’5People will oppress each other – man against man, neighbour against neighbour. The young will rise up against the old, the nobody against the honoured.6A man will seize one of his brothers in his father’s house, and say, ‘You have a cloak, you be our leader; take charge of this heap of ruins!’7But in that day he will cry out, ‘I have no remedy. I have no food or clothing in my house; do not make me the leader of the people.’8Jerusalem staggers, Judah is falling; their words and deeds are against the Lord, defying his glorious presence.9The look on their faces testifies against them; they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves.10Tell the righteous it will be well with them, for they will enjoy the fruit of their deeds.11Woe to the wicked! Disaster is upon them! They will be paid back for what their hands have done.12Youths oppress my people, women rule over them. My people, your guides lead you astray; they turn you from the path.13The Lord takes his place in court; he rises to judge the people.14The Lord enters into judgment against the elders and leaders of his people: ‘It is you who have ruined my vineyard; the plunder from the poor is in your houses.15What do you mean by crushing my people and grinding the faces of the poor?’ declares the Lord, the Lord Almighty.16The Lord says, ‘The women of Zion are haughty, walking along with outstretched necks, flirting with their eyes, strutting along with swaying hips, with ornaments jingling on their ankles.17Therefore the Lord will bring sores on the heads of the women of Zion; the Lord will make their scalps bald.’18In that day the Lord will snatch away their finery: the bangles and headbands and crescent necklaces,19the earrings and bracelets and veils,20the head-dresses and anklets and sashes, the perfume bottles and charms,21the signet rings and nose rings,22the fine robes and the capes and cloaks, the purses23and mirrors, and the linen garments and tiaras and shawls.24Instead of fragrance there will be a stench; instead of a sash, a rope; instead of well-dressed hair, baldness; instead of fine clothing, sackcloth; instead of beauty, branding.25Your men will fall by the sword, your warriors in battle.26The gates of Zion will lament and mourn; destitute, she will sit on the ground.
1Iată, Stăpânul, DOMNUL Oștirilor, va lua din Ierusalim și din Iuda resursele și sprijinul, orice resursă de pâine și orice resursă de apă,2pe viteaz și pe războinic, pe judecător și pe profet, pe cel care practică divinația[1] și pe bătrân, (De 18:10)3pe conducătorul peste cincizeci și pe demnitar, pe sfetnic, pe meșteșugarul priceput și pe descântătorul iscusit.4„Le voi da tineri drept conducători și niște dezmățați îi vor stăpâni.“5Oamenii se vor asupri[2] unii pe alții, fiecare se va asupri unul pe celălalt, fiecare pe semenul său. Cei tineri se vor întărâta împotriva celui bătrân, și oamenii de rând împotriva celui onorat. (Ex 3:7)6Un om îl va apuca pe fratele său din casa tatălui său, zicând: „Tu ai o mantie; fii conducătorul nostru! Iar această grămadă de ruine fie sub comanda[3] ta!“7Însă, tot în ziua aceea, el va replica în aceeași zi, zicând: „Nu pot eu să fiu doctor! În casa mea n‑am nici mâncare, nici îmbrăcăminte; nu mă puneți conducător al acestui popor!“8Ierusalimul s‑a clătinat, și Iuda s‑a prăbușit, pentru că limba și faptele lor sunt împotriva DOMNULUI, răzvrătindu‑se împotriva ochilor slavei Sale.9Înfățișarea feței lor mărturisește împotriva lor. Își arată păcatul precum făcea Sodoma; nu‑l ascund! Vai de sufletul lor! Și‑au adus nenorocirea asupra lor.10Spuneți‑i celui drept că îi va merge bine! Căci ei vor mânca din rodul faptelor lor.11Vai de cel rău! Îi va merge rău, căci i se va face după munca mâinilor lui.12Cei ce‑mi asupresc poporul se poartă ca niște copii[4], iar femeile[5] îl stăpânesc. Poporul meu, călăuzele tale te duc în rătăcire și încurcă mersul căilor tale!13DOMNUL Se ridică să acuze; stă în picioare să judece popoarele.14DOMNUL intră la judecată cu bătrânii și cu conducătorii poporului Său. „Voi ați devorat via! Prada de la cel sărac este în casele voastre!15Cu ce drept Îmi călcați în picioare poporul și zdrobiți fața celui sărac?“ zice Stăpânul, DOMNUL Oștirilor.16DOMNUL a zis: „Fiicele Sionului sunt mândre, umblă cu gâtul întins, aruncă priviri galeșe, călcând cu pași mărunți și cu podoabele zornăindu‑le pe glezne.17De aceea Stăpânul va aduce râie pe capetele fiicelor Sionului, DOMNUL le va dezveli părțile ascunse.[6]“18În ziua aceea, Stăpânul le va îndepărta frumusețea verigilor, a sorișorilor și a lunișoarelor,19a cerceilor, a brățărilor și a maramelor,20a vălurilor de pe cap și a lănțișoarelor de la gleznă, a eșarfelor[7], a sticluțelor cu parfum și a talismanelor,21a inelelor cu sigiliu, a inelelor din nas,22a hainelor lungi de sărbătoare, a cămășilor, a mantiilor, a traistelor,23a oglinzilor, a lenjeriei, a turbanelor și a voalurilor.24În loc de parfum, va fi putregai, în loc de brâu, va fi o funie, în loc de păr aranjat, pleșuvie, în loc de haină frumoasă, un sac strâmt, în loc de frumusețe, însemnare cu fierul roșu.25Bărbații voștri vor cădea loviți de sabie și vitejii voștri vor cădea în luptă.26Porțile Sionului se vor tângui și vor boci și astfel, gol, el se va așeza pe pământ!
