1I saw in heaven another great and marvellous sign: seven angels with the seven last plagues – last, because with them God’s wrath is completed.2And I saw what looked like a sea of glass glowing with fire and, standing beside the sea, those who had been victorious over the beast and its image and over the number of its name. They held harps given them by God3and sang the song of God’s servant Moses and of the Lamb: ‘Great and marvellous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the nations.[1]4Who will not fear you, Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.’[2] (De 32:4; Ps 111:2; Ps 111:3; Jer 10:7)5After this I looked, and I saw in heaven the temple – that is, the tabernacle of the covenant law – and it was opened.6Out of the temple came the seven angels with the seven plagues. They were dressed in clean, shining linen and wore golden sashes round their chests.7Then one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls filled with the wrath of God, who lives for ever and ever.8And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from his power, and no-one could enter the temple until the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.
1Nu fick jag se ett annat symboliskt och fantastiskt skådespel i himlen. Jag såg sju änglar, som var utsedda att sända de sju sista plågorna till jorden. Dessa plågor är de sista, för när de är över kommer Guds vrede att vara slut.2Sedan såg jag något som liknade ett hav av glas blandat med eld, och på det stod alla de som hade lyckats bli fria från odjuret[1] och dess bild och talet som representerar dess namn. Alla höll de Guds harpor i sina händer,3och de sjöng Guds tjänare Moses sång och Lammets sång:[2]”Stora och underbara är dina gärningar, Herre Gud, du som har all makt. Du är rättvis och sann i allt vad du gör, du härskare över alla länder.4Vem skulle inte bäva för dig, Herre, och hylla dig? Du ensam är helig. Alla folk ska komma och tillbe dig, för dina rättvisa domar har blivit synliga.”
Sju änglar med sju plågor
5-6Sedan såg jag i min syn hur templet i himlen, det verkliga förbundstecknets tält[3], öppnades. Och därifrån, inifrån det allra heligaste, kom de sju änglar som var utsedda att sända de sju plågorna. De var klädda i skinande vitt linne och hade guldbälten över bröstet.7En av de fyra levande varelserna räckte de sju änglarna varsin skål av guld. Och varje skål var fylld av Guds vrede, vreden från honom som lever i all evighet.8Det allra heligaste fylldes då av rök från hans härlighet och makt, och ingen kunde gå in där förrän de sju plågorna från de sju änglarna var över.
