Jesus forgives and heals a man who could not walk

1 Jesus stepped into a boat. He went over to the other side of the lake and came to his own town. 2 Some men brought to him a man who could not walk. He was lying on a mat. Jesus saw that they had faith. So he said to the man, ‘Don’t lose hope, son. Your sins are forgiven.’ 3 Then some teachers of the law said to themselves, ‘This fellow is saying a very evil thing!’ 4 Jesus knew what they were thinking. So he said, ‘Why do you have evil thoughts in your hearts? 5 Is it easier to say, “Your sins are forgiven”? Or to say, “Get up and walk”? 6 But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.’ So he spoke to the man who could not walk. ‘Get up’, he said. ‘Take your mat and go home.’ 7 The man got up and went home. 8 When the crowd saw this, they were filled with wonder. They praised God for giving that kind of authority to a human being.

Jesus chooses Matthew and eats with sinners

9 As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew. He was sitting at the tax collector’s booth. ‘Follow me’, Jesus told him. Matthew got up and followed him. 10 Later Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house. Many tax collectors and sinners came. They ate with Jesus and his disciples. 11 The Pharisees saw this. So they asked the disciples, ‘Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?’ 12 Jesus heard this. So he said, ‘Those who are healthy don’t need a doctor. Ill people do. 13 Go and learn what this means, “I want mercy and not sacrifice.” I have not come to get those who think they are right with God to follow me. I have come to get sinners to follow me.’ (Ho 6:6)

Jesus is asked about fasting

14 One day John’s disciples came. They said to Jesus, ‘We and the Pharisees often go without eating. Why don’t your disciples go without eating?’ 15 Jesus answered, ‘How can the guests of the groom be sad while he is with them? The time will come when the groom will be taken away from them. Then they will fast. 16 ‘People don’t sew a patch of new cloth on old clothes. The new piece will pull away from the old. That will make the tear worse. 17 People don’t pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst. The wine will run out, and the wineskins will be destroyed. No, people pour new wine into new wineskins. Then both are saved.’

Jesus heals a dead girl and a suffering woman

18 While Jesus was saying this, a synagogue leader came. He got down on his knees in front of Jesus. He said, ‘My daughter has just died. But come and place your hand on her. Then she will live again.’ 19 Jesus got up and went with him. So did his disciples. 20 Just then a woman came up behind Jesus. She had an illness that made her bleed. It had lasted for 12 years. She touched the edge of his clothes. 21 She thought, ‘I only need to touch his clothes. Then I will be healed.’ 22 Jesus turned and saw her. ‘Dear woman, don’t give up hope,’ he said. ‘Your faith has healed you.’ The woman was healed at that moment. 23 When Jesus entered the synagogue leader’s house, he saw the noisy crowd and people playing flutes. 24 He said, ‘Go away. The girl is not dead. She is sleeping.’ But they laughed at him. 25 After the crowd had been sent outside, Jesus went in. He took the girl by the hand, and she got up. 26 News about what Jesus had done spread all over that area. 27 As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him. They called out, ‘Have mercy on us, Son of David!’ 28 When Jesus went indoors, the blind men came to him. He asked them, ‘Do you believe that I can do this?’ ‘Yes, Lord,’ they replied. 29 Then he touched their eyes. He said, ‘It will happen to you just as you believed.’ 30 They could now see again. Jesus strongly warned them, ‘Be sure that no one knows about this.’ 31 But they went out and spread the news. They talked about him all over that area. 32 While they were going out, another man was brought to Jesus. A demon controlled him, and he could not speak. 33 When the demon was driven out, the man spoke. The crowd was amazed. They said, ‘Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.’ 34 But the Pharisees said, ‘He drives out demons by the power of the prince of demons.’

There are only a few workers

35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages. He taught in their synagogues. He preached the good news of the kingdom. And he healed every illness and disease. 36 When he saw the crowds, he felt deep concern for them. They were treated badly and were helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is huge. But there are only a few workers. 38 So ask the Lord of the harvest to send workers out into his harvest field.’

Jesus heilt einen Gelähmten

1 Jesus stieg wieder ins Boot, fuhr über den See zurück und ging in seine Stadt. (Mr 2:1; Lu 5:17) 2 Da brachten einige Männer einen Gelähmten auf einer Tragbahre zu ihm. Als Jesus sah, wie groß ihr Vertrauen war, sagte er zu dem Gelähmten: »Mein Kind, fasse Mut! Deine Schuld ist vergeben.« (Ps 103:3; Mr 2:5) 3 Da dachten einige Gesetzeslehrer: »Er lästert Gott!« 4 Jesus wusste, was in ihnen vorging, und sagte: »Warum habt ihr so böswillige Gedanken? 5 Was ist leichter – zu sagen: ›Deine Schuld ist dir vergeben‹, oder: ›Steh auf und geh‹? 6 Aber ihr sollt sehen, dass der Menschensohn Vollmacht hat, hier auf der Erde Schuld zu vergeben!« Und er sagte zu dem Gelähmten: »Steh auf, nimm deine Bahre und geh nach Hause!« (Joh 5:36) 7 Da stand er auf und ging nach Hause. 8 Als die Leute das sahen, erschraken sie, und sie priesen Gott, dass er den Menschen solche Vollmacht gegeben hat.

Jesus beruft Matthäus und isst mit den Zolleinnehmern

9 Jesus ging weiter und sah einen Zolleinnehmer an der Zollstelle sitzen. Er hieß Matthäus. Jesus sagte zu ihm: »Komm, folge mir!« Und Matthäus stand auf und folgte ihm. (Mt 8:21; Mr 2:13; Lu 5:27) 10 Als Jesus dann zu Hause^[1] zu Tisch saß, kamen viele Zolleinnehmer und andere, die einen ebenso schlechten Ruf hatten, um mit ihm und seinen Jüngern zu essen. (Mt 11:19; Lu 15:1; Lu 19:7) 11 Die Pharisäer sahen es und fragten die Jünger: »Wie kann euer Lehrer sich mit den Zolleinnehmern und ähnlichem Volk an einen Tisch setzen?« 12 Jesus hörte es und antwortete: »Nicht die Gesunden brauchen den Arzt, sondern die Kranken! 13 Überlegt doch einmal, was es bedeutet, wenn Gott sagt: ›Ich fordere von euch nicht, dass ihr mir irgendwelche Opfer^[2] bringt, sondern dass ihr barmherzig seid.‹ Ich bin nicht gekommen, solche Menschen in Gottes neue Welt einzuladen,^[3] bei denen alles in Ordnung ist, sondern solche, die Gott den Rücken gekehrt haben.« (Ho 6:6; Mt 12:7)

Die Hochzeit hat begonnen

14 Danach kamen die Jünger des Täufers Johannes zu Jesus und fragten: »Wie kommt es, dass wir und die Pharisäer regelmäßig fasten, aber deine Jünger nicht?« (Mt 6:16; Mt 11:18; Mr 2:18; Lu 5:33)

15 Jesus antwortete: »Können die Hochzeitsgäste mit Trauermienen herumsitzen, solange der Bräutigam unter ihnen ist? Die Zeit kommt früh genug, dass der Bräutigam ihnen entrissen wird; dann werden sie fasten. (Mt 22:2; Mt 25:10; Joh 2:1; Joh 3:29; Re 19:7)

16 Niemand flickt ein altes Kleid mit einem neuen Stück Stoff, sonst reißt das neue Stück wieder aus und macht das Loch nur noch größer. 17 Auch füllt niemand neuen Wein, der noch gärt, in alte Schläuche; sonst platzen die Schläuche, der Wein fließt aus und auch die Schläuche sind hin. Nein, neuen Wein füllt man in neue Schläuche, dann bleibt beides erhalten.«

Jesus heilt eine kranke Frau und erweckt ein Mädchen vom Tod

18 Während Jesus ihnen das erklärte, kam einer der Gemeindevorsteher zu ihm, warf sich vor ihm nieder und sagte: »Meine Tochter ist gerade gestorben. Aber komm und leg ihr deine Hand auf, dann wird sie wieder leben!« (Mr 5:21; Lu 8:40) 19 Jesus stand auf und folgte ihm. Auch seine Jünger gingen mit. 20 Unterwegs trat eine Frau von hinten an Jesus heran und berührte eine Quaste seines Gewandes. Sie litt seit zwölf Jahren an Blutungen (Le 15:25; Mt 14:36; Lu 6:19) 21 und sagte sich: »Wenn ich nur sein Gewand berühre, werde ich gesund.« 22 Jesus drehte sich um, sah die Frau und sagte: »Nur Mut, meine Tochter! Dein Vertrauen hat dir geholfen.« Im selben Augenblick war die Frau geheilt. (Mt 8:13; Lu 7:50) 23 Jesus kam in das Trauerhaus. Als er die Flötenspieler für das Begräbnis und all die aufgeregten Menschen sah, 24 sagte er: »Hinaus mit euch! Das Mädchen ist nicht tot, es schläft nur.« Da lachten sie ihn aus. (Joh 11:11) 25 Er ließ die Leute hinauswerfen, ging in den Raum, in dem das Mädchen lag, und nahm es bei der Hand; da stand es auf. (Mr 5:41) 26 Die Nachricht davon verbreitete sich in der ganzen Gegend.

Jesus heilt zwei Blinde

27 Als Jesus von dort weiterging, liefen zwei Blinde hinter ihm her und riefen: »Du Sohn Davids, hab Erbarmen mit uns!« (Mt 20:29; Mt 20:30) 28 Als er ins Haus ging, folgten sie ihm, und er fragte sie: »Traut ihr mir zu, dass ich euch helfen kann?« »Ja, Herr!«, antworteten sie. 29 Da berührte Jesus ihre Augen und sagte: »Was ihr in eurem Vertrauen von mir erwartet, soll geschehen.« (Mt 8:13) 30 Da konnten sie sehen. Jesus befahl ihnen streng: »Seht zu, dass es niemand erfährt!« (Mr 5:43) 31 Sie aber gingen hinaus und erzählten von Jesus in der ganzen Gegend. (Mr 7:36)

Jesus heilt einen Stummen. Unterschiedliche Reaktionen

32 Als die beiden gegangen waren, wurde ein Mann zu Jesus gebracht, der war stumm, weil ihn ein böser Geist in seiner Gewalt hatte. (Mt 12:22) 33 Kaum war der böse Geist ausgetrieben, fing der Stumme an zu reden, und alle riefen erstaunt: »So etwas hat es in Israel noch nie gegeben!« 34 Aber die Pharisäer erklärten: »Er kann nur deshalb die bösen Geister austreiben, weil der oberste aller bösen Geister ihm die Macht dazu gibt.« (Mt 10:25; Mt 12:24; Mt 12:27; Joh 8:48)

Die Aussendung der Jünger

35 (Mk 6,34.7; Jesus zog durch alle Städte und Dörfer. Er lehrte in den Synagogen und verkündete die Gute Nachricht, dass Gott jetzt seine Herrschaft aufrichtet und sein Werk vollendet.^[4] Er heilte alle Krankheiten und Leiden. (Mt 4:23; Mr 3:13; Lu 6:12; Lu 9:1; Lu 10:2)

36 Als er die vielen Menschen sah, ergriff ihn das Mitleid, denn sie waren so hilflos und erschöpft wie Schafe, die keinen Hirten haben. (Zec 10:2; Mr 8:2) 37 Darum sagte er zu seinen Jüngern: »Hier wartet eine reiche Ernte, aber es gibt nicht genug Menschen, die helfen, sie einzubringen. 38 Bittet den Herrn, dem diese Ernte gehört, dass er die nötigen Leute schickt!«
