The holy tent

1 ‘Make ten curtains out of finely twisted linen for the holy tent. Make them with blue, purple and bright red yarn. Have a skilled worker sew cherubim into the pattern. 2 Make all the curtains the same size. They must be 14 metres long and 2 metres wide. 3 Join five of the curtains together. Do the same thing with the other five. 4 Make loops out of blue strips of cloth along the edge of the end curtain in one set. Do the same thing with the end curtain in the other set. 5 Make 50 loops on the end curtain of the one set. Do the same thing on the end curtain of the other set. Put the loops opposite each other. 6 Make 50 gold hooks. Use them to join the curtains together so that the holy tent is all one piece. 7 ‘Make a total of 11 curtains out of goat hair to put over the holy tent. 8 Make all 11 curtains the same size. They must be 15 metres long and 2 metres wide. 9 Join five of the curtains together into one set. Do the same thing with the other six. Fold the sixth curtain in half at the front of the tent. 10 Make 50 loops along the edge of the end curtain in the one set. Do the same thing with the other set. 11 Then make 50 bronze hooks. Put them in the loops to join the tent together all in one piece. 12 Let the extra half curtain hang down at the rear of the holy tent. 13 The tent curtains will be half a metre longer on both sides. What is left over will hang over the sides of the holy tent and cover it. 14 Make a covering for the tent. Make it out of ram skins that are dyed red. Put a covering of the other strong leather over that. 15 ‘Make frames out of acacia wood for the holy tent. 16 Make each frame 5 metres long and 75 centimetres wide. 17 Add two small wooden pins to each frame. Make the pins stick out so that they are even with each other. Make all the frames for the holy tent in the same way. 18 Make 20 frames for the south side of the holy tent. 19 And make 40 silver bases to go under them. Make two bases for each frame. Put one under each pin that sticks out. 20 For the north side of the holy tent make 20 frames 21 and 40 silver bases. Put two bases under each frame. 22 Make six frames for the west end of the holy tent. 23 Make two frames for the corners at the far end. 24 At those two corners the frames must be double from top to bottom. They must be fitted into a single ring. Make both of them the same. 25 There will be eight frames and 16 silver bases. There will be two bases under each frame. 26 ‘Also make crossbars out of acacia wood. Make five for the frames on one side of the holy tent. 27 Make five for the frames on the other side. And make five for the frames on the west, at the far end of the holy tent. 28 The centre crossbar must reach from end to end at the middle of the frames. 29 Cover the frames with gold. Make gold rings to hold the crossbars. Also cover the crossbars with gold. 30 ‘Set up the holy tent in keeping with the plan I showed you on the mountain. 31 ‘Make a curtain out of blue, purple and bright red yarn and finely twisted linen. Have a skilled worker sew cherubim into the pattern. 32 Hang the curtain with gold hooks on four posts that are made out of acacia wood. Cover the posts with gold. Stand them on four silver bases. 33 Hang the curtain from the hooks. Place the ark of the covenant law behind the curtain. The curtain will separate the Holy Room from the Most Holy Room. 34 Put the cover on the ark of the covenant law in the Most Holy Room. The cover will be the place where sin is paid for. 35 Place the table outside the curtain on the north side of the holy tent. And put the lampstand opposite it on the south side. 36 ‘Make a curtain for the entrance to the tent. Make it out of blue, purple and bright red yarn and finely twisted linen. Have a person who sews skilfully make it. 37 Make gold hooks for the curtain. Make five posts out of acacia wood. Cover them with gold. And make five bronze bases for them.

1-2 Gör tabernaklet av tio tygvåder, tillverkade av fint vitt garn och av mörkblått, purpurrött och rosenrött garn, fjorton meter långa och två meter breda, med keruber invävda i dem. 3 Sammanfoga våderna till två långa stycken, vardera bestående av fem våder. 4-5 På vardera styckets ena långsida ska du sätta öglor av mörkblått garn, femtio öglor på var sida mittemot varandra. 6 Sedan ska du göra femtio hakar av guld och med hjälp av dem foga samman styckena, så att tabernaklet, Guds boning, utgör en helhet. 7-8 Du ska också göra tygvåder av gethår, som ska placeras ovanpå det mönstervävda tyget och täcka det. Du ska göra elva sådana tygvåder, var och en femton meter lång och två meter bred. 9 Foga ihop fem av dess våder till ett helt stycke och de sex övriga likaså till ett stycke. Den sjätte våden ska vikas dubbel, och en halv meter av den ska hänga framför ingången till det heliga tältet. 10-11 Sätt fast femtio öglor på ena långsidan av vardera stycket och häkta ihop dem med femtio hakar av koppar. På så sätt kommer de båda styckena att utgöra en enhet. 12-13 Gethårstyget på alla fyra sidorna kommer att gå en halv meter utanför det mönstervävda tyget. 14 Över detta ska du sedan lägga ett överdrag av rödfärgade fårskinn och över detta i sin tur ett överdrag av getskinn. 15-16 Stommen till det heliga tältet ska göras av akacieträ. Varje bräda ska stå upprätt och vara fem meter lång och 75 centimeter bred. 17-18 På varje bräda ska det också finnas två tappar nertill som är förbundna sinsemellan med en list. 19 Tjugo sådana brädor intill varandra behövs till södra sidan av det heliga tältet. Varje bräda ska ha en sockel av silver, utförd i två stycken, för de två tapparna i brädan. 20 På norra sidan ska det också vara tjugo brädor 21 med fyrtio silversocklar, två för varje bräda. 22 På den västra sidan ska det vara sex brädor 23 och sedan två vid varje hörn. 24 Dessa hörnbrädor ska vara dubbla upptill och nertill. 25 Det ska alltså tillsammans vara åtta brädor på byggnadens baksida, med sexton silversocklar för brädorna, två under varje. 26-27 Sedan ska du göra tvärstänger av akacieträ, fem för de två långsidorna av tältets stomme och fem för baksidan, som vetter mot väster så att brädorna hålls samman. 28 Den mellersta av dessa stänger, som löper mitt på stommen, två och en halv meter över marken, ska sträcka sig utefter hela väggen. 29 Drag över brädorna med guld. Ringarna, som sitter fast på brädorna, ska du också göra av guld. Tvärstängerna, som du skjuter in i ringarna, ska du dra över med guld. 30 Sätt upp tabernaklet på det sätt som jag visade dig på berget.

Förhänget

31 Du ska också göra ett förhänge av mörkblått, purpurrött, rosenrött och tvinnat vitt garn med keruber invävda. 32 Häng upp det på fyra stolpar av akacieträ, överdragna med guld och med fyra hakar av guld. Stolparna ska stå på fyra silversocklar. 33 Häng upp detta förhänge på krokarna, under öglorna och hakarna i takets tyg, och placera arken med stentavlorna, där Guds lag står inskriven, bakom det. Detta förhänge ska skilja det större rummet, det heliga, från det mindre rummet, det allra heligaste. 34 Och benådningsplatsen, arkens guldlock, ska du ställa i det allra heligaste. 35 Placera bordet och ljusstaken utanför förhänget mitt emot varandra. Ljusstaken ska stå på den södra sidan och bordet på den norra sidan. 36 Till ingången av tältet ska du göra ett brokigt draperi av mörkblått, purpurrött, rosenrött och tvinnat vitt garn. 37 Häng upp detta draperi på fem stolpar av akacieträ överdragna med guld och med krokar av guld, och gjut en sockel av koppar till varje stolpe.
