Dann lasse ich euer Volk gehen, damit ihr dem HERRN Opfer darbringen könnt.«5Mose erwiderte: »Ich werde gerne für dich, deine Hofbeamten und dein Volk ´um das Ende der Froschplage` beten. Bestimme den Zeitpunkt, an dem die Frösche aus deinem Palast und den Häusern im Land verschwinden sollen. ´Sie werden eingehen, und` nur die im Nil werden überleben.«6»Bete, dass es morgen geschieht«, antwortete der Pharao. »Es wird geschehen, wie du wünschst«, sagte Mose. »Daran sollst du erkennen, dass niemand es mit dem HERRN, unserem Gott, aufnehmen kann.7Die Frösche werden ´verschwinden und` dich, deine Paläste, deinen Hofstaat und dein ganzes Volk in Ruhe lassen. Nur die im Nil werden überleben.«8Mose und Aaron verließen den Pharao. Dann bat Mose den HERRN eindringlich, der Froschplage, die er dem Pharao geschickt hatte, ein Ende zu machen.9Der HERR tat, worum Mose ihn gebeten hatte: Überall in den Häusern und Gehöften und auf den Feldern starben die Frösche.10Man schüttete sie auf große Haufen, und im ganzen Land stank es ´nach Verwesung`.11Als der Pharao sah, dass sich die Lage entspannt hatte, nahm er wieder seine unerbittliche Haltung ein[1]. Er hörte auch weiterhin nicht auf Mose und Aaron, so, wie der HERR es vorausgesagt hatte.
Drittes Strafgericht: Mückenplage
12Der HERR sagte zu Mose: »Fordere Aaron auf, seinen Stab auszustrecken und damit auf den Boden zu schlagen. Dann wird in ganz Ägypten der Staub zu Stechmücken.«13So taten sie es. Aaron streckte seinen Stab aus und schlug damit auf den Boden. Da bildeten sich überall in Ägypten Mückenschwärme aus der staubigen Erde und fielen über Menschen und Tiere her.14Auch die ´ägyptischen` Magier versuchten mit ihren Künsten, Mücken hervorzubringen, aber sie schafften es nicht. ´Sie konnten auch nicht verhindern, dass` die Mücken weiterhin Menschen und Tiere quälten.15»Das ist ein Fingerzeig Gottes«, sagten die Magier zum Pharao. Doch er blieb starrsinnig.[2] Er hörte nicht auf Mose und Aaron[3], so, wie es der HERR vorausgesagt hatte.
Viertes Strafgericht: Ungezieferplage
16Der HERR sagte zu Mose: »Pass den Pharao ab, wenn er morgen in aller Frühe zum Wasser geht, und sag ihm: ›So spricht der HERR: Lass mein Volk gehen, damit es mir Opfer darbringen[4] kann!17Wenn du mein Volk nicht ziehen lässt, dann lasse ich Ungeziefer[5] auf dich, deine Hofbeamten, dein Volk und deine Paläste los. In ´ganz` Ägypten werden die Häuser und Grundstücke voll davon sein.18Aber ´das Gebiet` Goschen, in dem mein Volk lebt, werde ich verschonen[6], wenn die Plage beginnt. Dort wird es kein Ungeziefer geben, damit du ´endlich` erkennst, dass ich der HERR bin, der mitten in diesem Land ´seine Macht erweist`.19Ich nehme mein Volk von der Strafe aus, die dein Volk treffen wird.[7] Schon morgen werden das alle sehen.[8]‹«20Der HERR tat, was er gesagt hatte: Unmengen von Ungeziefer kamen in den Palast des Pharaos, in die Häuser seiner Hofbeamten und über das ganze Land Ägypten. Das Ungeziefer richtete überall großen Schaden an.21Da ließ der Pharao Mose und Aaron zu sich rufen und sagte zu ihnen: »Opfert eurem Gott doch hier in unserem Land!«22Mose erwiderte: »Das können wir nicht tun. Denn die Ägypter verabscheuen die Opfer, die wir dem HERRN, unserem Gott, darbringen. Wenn wir vor ihren Augen ein Opferfest feiern, dann steinigen sie uns am Ende noch!23Wir wollen drei Tagesreisen weit in die Wüste gehen und dort dem HERRN, unserem Gott, Opfer darbringen, so, wie er es uns aufgetragen hat.«24Da antwortete der Pharao: » ´Gut`, ich werde euch gehen lassen, damit ihr dem HERRN, eurem Gott, in der Wüste Opfer darbringen könnt. Aber entfernt euch nicht zu weit. ´Und jetzt` betet für mich!«25Mose entgegnete: »Sobald ich deinen Palast verlassen habe, bete ich zum HERRN. Morgen wirst du mitsamt deinen Hofbeamten und deinem Volk vom Ungeziefer befreit sein. Nur solltest du, Pharao, uns nicht noch einmal hintergehen und das Volk daran hindern, wegzuziehen und dem HERRN Opfer dazubringen.«26Dann verließ Mose den Pharao und betete zum HERRN.27Der HERR erhörte seine Bitte: Er befreite den Pharao, seinen Hofstaat und sein ganzes Volk von dem Ungeziefer. Nicht ein einziger Schädling blieb übrig.28Doch der Pharao fiel auch dieses Mal in seine unerbittliche Haltung zurück[9] und ließ das ´israelitische` Volk nicht gehen.

Die dritte Plage: Mücken
12Da sprach der HERR zu Mose: Sage zu Aaron: Strecke deinen Stab aus und schlage den Staub auf der Erde, dass er zu Mücken werde im ganzen Land Ägypten! (2Mo 7,19)13Und sie handelten genau so. Und Aaron streckte seine Hand aus mit seinem Stab und schlug in den Staub auf der Erde, und die Mücken kamen über die Menschen und über das Vieh; der ganze Staub der Erde wurde zu Mücken im ganzen Land Ägypten. (Ps 105,31; Jes 23,9)14Die Zauberer aber versuchten mit ihren Zauberkünsten auch Mücken hervorzubringen; aber sie konnten es nicht. Und die Mücken kamen über die Menschen und das Vieh. (2Mo 9,10; Jes 19,11)15Da sprachen die Zauberer zum Pharao: Das ist der Finger Gottes! Aber das Herz des Pharao war verstockt, sodass er nicht auf sie hörte, wie der HERR es gesagt hatte. (2Mo 4,21; Dan 5,5; Lk 11,20)
Die vierte Plage: Hundsfliegen
16Da sprach der HERR zu Mose: Mache dich morgen früh auf und tritt zum Pharao — siehe, er wird ans Wasser gehen! — und sprich zu ihm: So spricht der HERR: Lass mein Volk ziehen, damit es mir dient! (2Mo 7,15)17Denn wenn du mein Volk nicht ziehen lässt, siehe, so will ich über dich und über deine Knechte[1] und über dein Volk und über deine Häuser Hundsfliegen kommen lassen, dass die Häuser der Ägypter und das Feld, auf dem sie sind, voller Hundsfliegen werden sollen. (Ps 105,31; Jes 7,18)18Und ich will an demselben Tag etwas Besonderes tun mit dem Land Gosen, wo mein Volk wohnt, sodass dort keine Hundsfliegen sein sollen, damit du erkennst, dass ich, der HERR, inmitten des Landes bin. (2Mo 8,4)25Mose aber erwiderte: Siehe, ich gehe hinaus von dir und will den HERRN bitten, dass die Hundsfliegen morgen vom Pharao, von seinen Knechten und von seinem Volk genommen werden; nur möge der Pharao uns nicht mehr täuschen, indem er das Volk doch nicht ziehen lässt, damit es dem HERRN Opfer darbringt! They will come up into your palace and your bedroom and onto your bed, into the houses of your officials and on your people, and into your ovens and kneading troughs.4The frogs will come up on you and your people and all your officials.” ’5Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Tell Aaron, “Stretch out your hand with your staff over the streams and canals and ponds, and make frogs come up on the land of Egypt.” ’6So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the land.7But the magicians did the same things by their secret arts; they also made frogs come up on the land of Egypt.8Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, ‘Pray to the Lord to take the frogs away from me and my people, and I will let your people go to offer sacrifices to the Lord.’9Moses said to Pharaoh, ‘I leave to you the honour of setting the time for me to pray for you and your officials and your people that you and your houses may be rid of the frogs, except for those that remain in the Nile.’10‘Tomorrow,’ Pharaoh said. The plague of gnats
16Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Tell Aaron, “Stretch out your staff and strike the dust of the ground,” and throughout the land of Egypt the dust will become gnats.’17They did this, and when Aaron stretched out his hand with the staff and struck the dust of the ground, gnats came on people and animals. All the dust throughout the land of Egypt became gnats.18But when the magicians tried to produce gnats by their secret arts, they could not. Since the gnats were on people and animals everywhere,19the magicians said to Pharaoh, ‘This is the finger of God.’ But Pharaoh’s heart was hard and he would not listen, just as the Lord had said.
The plague of flies
20Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Get up early in the morning and confront Pharaoh as he goes to the river and say to him, “This is what the Lord says: let my people go, so that they may worship me.21If you do not let my people go, I will send swarms of flies on you and your officials, on your people and into your houses. The houses of the Egyptians will be full of flies; even the ground will be covered with them.22‘ “But on that day I will deal differently with the land of Goshen, where my people live; no swarms of flies will be there, so that you will know that I, the Lord, am in this land.23I will make a distinction[2] between my people and your people. This sign will occur tomorrow.” ’24And the Lord did this. Dense swarms of flies poured into Pharaoh’s palace and into the houses of his officials; throughout Egypt the land was ruined by the flies.25Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, ‘Go, sacrifice to your God here in the land.’26But Moses said, ‘That would not be right. The sacrifices we offer the Lord our God would be detestable to the Egyptians. And if we offer sacrifices that are detestable in their eyes, will they not stone us?27We must take a three-day journey into the wilderness to offer sacrifices to the Lord our God, as he commands us.’28Pharaoh said, ‘I will let you go to offer sacrifices to the Lord your God in the wilderness, but you must not go very far. Now pray for me.’29Moses answered, ‘As soon as I leave you, I will pray to the Lord, and tomorrow the flies will leave Pharaoh and his officials and his people. Only let Pharaoh be sure that he does not act deceitfully again by not letting the people go to offer sacrifices to the Lord.’30Then Moses left Pharaoh and prayed to the Lord,31and the Lord did what Moses asked.
