1Der HERR befahl Mose: »Mach dir zwei ´neue` Steintafeln wie die ersten, die du zerbrochen hast. Ich will die Worte, die darauf standen, noch einmal aufschreiben.2Steh morgen vor Tagesanbruch auf und steige auf den Berg Sinai, sobald es hell wird. Stell dich auf den Gipfel und erwarte mich dort.[1]3Niemand darf mit dir heraufkommen. Auch sonst darf sich niemand auf dem Berg sehen lassen. Nicht einmal Schafe, Ziegen oder Rinder dürfen am Fuß des Berges weiden.«4Mose fertigte zwei ´neue` Steintafeln an, die aussahen wie die ersten. Am ´nächsten` Morgen stand er früh auf und stieg auf den Berg Sinai, so wie der HERR es ihm befohlen hatte. In seinen Händen hielt er die beiden Steintafeln.
Gott offenbart sich Mose
5Da kam der HERR in einer Wolke ´auf den Berggipfel` herab, trat neben Mose und offenbarte sich ihm mit seinem Namen »der HERR«[2].6Er zog an Mose vorüber und rief: »Der HERR ´bin ich`, der HERR, ein barmherziger und gnädiger Gott, geduldig[3] und reich an Liebe und Treue.7Ich erweise meine Liebe über Tausende ´von Generationen` und vergebe ihnen Schuld, Unrecht und Sünde. Trotzdem lasse ich ´die Schuldigen` nicht ungestraft davonkommen, sondern ziehe sie zur Rechenschaft. Selbst ihre Nachkommen werden die Folgen noch bis in die dritte und vierte Generation spüren[4].«8Sofort warf Mose sich zu Boden und betete ´den HERRN` an.9Dann bat er: »Herr, wenn ich in deiner Gunst stehe, dann komme zurück in unsere Mitte und begleite uns auf unserem Weg[5], obwohl dieses Volk so eigensinnig ist. Bitte vergib uns unsere Schuld und Sünde und nimm uns ´wieder` als dein Eigentum an!«
Gott verspricht, die Völker zu vertreiben, und erwartet von Israel Treue
10Der HERR antwortete: »Ich schließe einen Bund ´mit euch: Ich verspreche euch`, dass ich vor euer aller Augen Wunder vollbringen werde, wie es sie unter keinem Volk auf der Welt jemals gegeben hat. Das ganze Volk, zu dem du gehörst, wird meine Taten sehen: Was ´ich`, der HERR, für euch tun werde, wird alle mit ehrfürchtigem Staunen erfüllen.11Ihr müsst euch dazu verpflichten, alles genau zu befolgen, was ich euch heute befehle! Ich werde die Amoriter, Kanaaniter, Hetiter, Perisiter, Hiwiter und Jebusiter vor euch vertreiben.12Schließt auf keinen Fall ein Bündnis mit den Bewohnern des Landes, in das ihr kommt. Wenn ´sie bleiben und` unter euch leben, werden sie euch zum Verhängnis.13Reißt ihre Altäre nieder, zertrümmert ihre heiligen Steinmale und haut ihre Götzenpfähle[6] um.14Betet keinen Gott ´außer mir` an. Denn zu Recht werde ´ich`, der HERR, »der Eifersüchtige« genannt – ´ich bin` ein leidenschaftlicher Gott, der keinen neben sich duldet[7].15´Ich will` nicht, dass ihr mit den Einwohnern des Landes ein Bündnis schließt. Denn sie verehren andere Götter als mich[8] und bringen ihnen Opfer dar. Sie würden euch dazu verführen, an ihren Opfermahlzeiten teilzunehmen.16Ihr würdet eure Söhne mit ihren Töchtern verheiraten. Eure Schwiegertöchter würden ´weiterhin` ihre Götter verehren und eure Söhne dazu bringen, sich auch mit diesen Göttern einzulassen.17Macht euch keine mit Gold beschlagenen Götterfiguren[9]!
Jährliche Feste und verschiedene Opfer
18Begeht jedes Jahr zur festgesetzten Zeit das Fest der ungesäuerten Brote, und esst sieben Tage lang Brot ohne Sauerteig. Ich habe euch befohlen, das im Monat Abib zu tun, denn in diesem Monat seid ihr aus Ägypten ausgezogen.19Weiht mir alle erstgeborenen Söhne[10] und die männlichen Erstgeborenen all eures Viehs, vom Rind bis zum Schaf[11].20Nur bei den Eseln sollt ihr als Ersatz ein Lamm opfern.[12] Wenn ihr dies nicht tun wollt, müsst ihr dem Fohlen das Genick brechen. ´Bei den Menschen gilt:` Alle erstgeborenen Söhne müsst ihr ´in jedem Fall durch ein anderes Opfer` auslösen. Niemand soll mit leeren Händen zu meinem Heiligtum[13] kommen!21Sechs Tage lang könnt ihr arbeiten, am siebten Tag jedoch sollt ihr ausruhen. Das gilt auch für die Zeit des Pflügens und Erntens.22Feiert zu Beginn der Weizenernte das Wochenfest[14], und im Herbst[15] das Fest der Obstlese.23Dreimal im Jahr, ´zu diesen drei Festen`, sollen alle Männer zu ´mir`, dem HERRN, dem Gott Israels, ans Heiligtum kommen[16].24Niemand wird in euer Land einfallen, während ihr an den drei jährlichen Festen bei mir, dem HERRN, eurem Gott, am Heiligtum seid[17]. Denn ich vertreibe die anderen Völker vor euch und gebe euch ein großes, ´sicheres` Gebiet.25Das Blut eines Opfertieres darf nicht zusammen mit Brot geopfert werden, das Sauerteig enthält. Von den Tieren, die als Passaopfer dargebracht werden, darf bis zum nächsten Morgen nichts übrig bleiben.26Von den ersten Früchten eurer Felder sollt ihr das Beste ´nehmen und` zur Wohnung des HERRN, eures Gottes, bringen. Ein junges Ziegenböckchen dürft ihr nicht in der Milch seiner Mutter kochen.«
Die Niederschrift der Bundesregeln
27Der HERR befahl Mose: »Schreib meine Worte genau auf, denn sie sind die Grundlage für den Bund, den ich mit dir und dem Volk Israel schließe[18].«28Mose verbrachte vierzig Tage und vierzig Nächte auf dem Berg in der Gegenwart des HERRN. ´Während der ganzen Zeit` aß und trank er nichts. Der HERR schrieb[19] auf die Steintafeln die zehn Gebote, die Grundregeln seines Bundes mit Israel[20].
Moses leuchtendes Gesicht
29Als Mose mit den beiden Gesetzestafeln in der Hand wieder vom Berg herabkam, lag auf seinem Gesicht ein strahlendes Leuchten, weil er mit dem HERRN gesprochen hatte. Mose war sich dessen nicht bewusst,30aber Aaron und die anderen Israeliten bemerkten das Leuchten, als sie Mose sahen. Sie bekamen Angst und hielten Abstand,31doch Mose rief sie zu sich. Da traten Aaron und die führenden Männer des Volkes zu ihm, und er redete mit ihnen.32Darauf näherten sich ihm auch die anderen Israeliten, und Mose gab ihnen alle Anweisungen weiter, die der HERR ihm auf dem Berg Sinai gegeben hatte.33Als Mose ihnen alles gesagt hatte, verhüllte er sein Gesicht mit einem Schleier.34Jedes Mal, wenn Mose das Zelt der Begegnung betrat[21], um mit dem HERRN zu sprechen, entfernte er den Schleier, bis er wieder hinausging. Draußen übermittelte er den Israeliten, was ihm aufgetragen worden war,35und sie konnten das strahlende Leuchten auf seinem Gesicht sehen. Danach legte Mose den Schleier wieder an, bis er ´erneut ins Zelt der Begegnung` ging, um mit dem HERRN zu sprechen.
Neue Gesetzestafeln. Offenbarung Gottes auf dem Sinai
1Und der HERR sprach zu Mose: Haue dir zwei steinerne Tafeln zu, wie die ersten waren, damit ich die Worte darauf schreibe, die auf den ersten Tafeln waren, die du zerbrochen hast; (2Mo 31,18; 2Mo 32,16; 2Mo 32,19; 5Mo 10,1; Ps 119,89)2und sei morgen bereit, dass du früh auf den Berg Sinai steigst und dort zu mir auf die Spitze des Berges trittst. Erneuerung des Bundes vom Sinai. Wichtige Bundesverpflichtungen
8Da neigte sich Mose schnell zur Erde und betete an; (1Mo 17,3; 2Mo 4,31; 2Chr 20,18; Apg 20,36; Apg 21,5)9und er sprach: O Herr, wenn ich Gnade gefunden habe vor deinen Augen, so ziehe mein Herr in unserer Mitte, obwohl es ein halsstarriges Volk ist; und vergib uns unsere Schuld und Sünde, und nimm uns an als dein Eigentum! Moses Angesicht strahlt
29Als nun Mose vom Berg Sinai herabstieg — und die beiden Tafeln des Zeugnisses waren in der Hand Moses, als er vom Berg hinabstieg —, da wusste Mose nicht, dass die Haut seines Angesichts strahlte, weil er mit Ihm geredet hatte. (Mt 17,2; 2Kor 3,7; Offb 1,16)30Und Aaron und alle Kinder Israels sahen Mose, und siehe, die Haut seines Angesichtes strahlte; da fürchteten sie sich, ihm zu nahen. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant – the Ten Commandments.
The radiant face of Moses
29When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the Lord.30When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant, and they were afraid to come near him.31But Moses called to them; so Aaron and all the leaders of the community came back to him, and he spoke to them.32Afterwards all the Israelites came near him, and he gave them all the commands the Lord had given him on Mount Sinai.33When Moses finished speaking to them, he put a veil over his face.34But whenever he entered the Lord’s presence to speak with him, he removed the veil until he came out. And when he came out and told the Israelites what he had been commanded,35they saw that his face was radiant. Then Moses would put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with the Lord.

And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.29And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses'hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him.30And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come nigh him.31And Moses called unto them; and Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation returned unto him: and Moses talked with them.32And afterward all the children of Israel came nigh: and he gave them in commandment all that the LORD had spoken with him in mount Sinai.33And till Moses had done speaking with them, he put a vail on his face.34But when Moses went in before the LORD to speak with him, he took the vail off, until he came out. And he came out, and spake unto the children of Israel that which he was commanded.35And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses'face shone: and Moses put the vail upon his face again, until he went in to speak with him.
