Heilung eines Besessenen

1 So kamen sie in das Gebiet der Gerasener^[1] am gegenüberliegenden Ufer des Sees. (Mt 8,28; Lk 8,26) 2 Jesus war kaum aus dem Boot gestiegen, als ihm aus den Grabhöhlen ein Mann entgegenlief, der von einem bösen^[2] Geist besessen war. 3 Er hauste dort in den Grabhöhlen, und niemand war mehr in der Lage, ihn zu bändigen^[3], nicht einmal mit Ketten. 4 Man hatte ihn zwar schon oft an Händen und Füßen gefesselt, doch jedes Mal hatte er die Ketten zerrissen und die Fußfesseln zerrieben; keiner wurde mehr Herr über ihn. 5 Tag und Nacht war er ununterbrochen in den Grabhöhlen oder auf den Bergen und schrie und schlug mit Steinen auf sich ein. 6 Kaum hatte dieser Mann Jesus von weitem erblickt, kam er herbeigerannt und warf sich vor ihm auf die Knie. 7 Er schrie mit lauter Stimme: »Was willst du von mir, Jesus, Sohn Gottes, des Allerhöchsten^[4]? Ich beschwöre dich bei Gott: Quäle mich nicht!« 8 Denn Jesus war ihm sofort mit den Worten entgegengetreten: »Verlass diesen Menschen, du böser Geist!« 9 Nun fragte ihn Jesus: »Wie heißt du?« – »Ich heiße Legion^[5]«, antwortete er, »denn wir sind viele.« 10 Und er flehte Jesus an, sie nicht aus jener Gegend fortzuschicken. 11 Nicht weit von dort weidete am Berghang eine große Herde Schweine. 12 »Lass uns doch in die Schweine fahren!«, baten die Dämonen. 13 Jesus erlaubte es ihnen, und die bösen Geister verließen den Mann und fuhren in die Schweine. Da stürzte sich die ganze Herde – etwa zweitausend Tiere – den Abhang hinunter in den See und ertrank. 14 Die Schweinehirten liefen davon und berichteten alles in der Stadt und in den Dörfern^[6]. Die Leute machten sich auf den Weg, um mit eigenen Augen zu sehen, was geschehen war. 15 Als sie zu Jesus kamen, sahen sie den Besessenen bei ihm. Der Mann, in dem die Legion Dämonen gewesen war, saß jetzt da, bekleidet und bei klarem Verstand. Da bekamen sie es mit der Angst zu tun. 16 Nachdem sie von den Augenzeugen erfahren hatten, was mit dem Besessenen und mit den Schweinen geschehen war, 17 drängten^[7] sie Jesus, ihr Gebiet zu verlassen. 18 Als er ins Boot stieg, bat ihn der, der besessen gewesen war, bei ihm bleiben zu dürfen. 19 Aber Jesus erlaubte es ihm nicht. »Geh nach Hause zu deinen Angehörigen«, sagte er, »und berichte ihnen, was der Herr für dich getan und wie er sich über dich erbarmt hat!« 20 Da ging der Mann fort und begann im Zehnstädtegebiet zu verkünden, was Jesus für ihn getan hatte. Und alle staunten.

Heilung einer kranken Frau und Auferweckung eines Kindes

21 Jesus fuhr mit dem Boot wieder ans andere Ufer, wo sich bald eine große Menschenmenge um ihn versammelte. Er war noch am See, (Mt 9,18; Lk 8,40) 22 als einer der Synagogenvorsteher kam, ein Mann namens Jairus. Er warf sich^[8] Jesus zu Füßen 23 und flehte ihn an: »Meine Tochter liegt im Sterben. Komm und leg ihr die Hände auf, damit sie wieder gesund wird^[9] und am Leben bleibt!« 24 Jesus ging mit ihm. Eine große Menschenmenge schloss sich ihm an und drängte sich um ihn. 25 Unter den Leuten war auch eine Frau, die seit zwölf Jahren an schweren Blutungen litt. 26 Sie war bei vielen Ärzten in Behandlung gewesen und hatte dabei viel gelitten und ihr gesamtes Vermögen ausgegeben, aber es hatte nichts genützt; im Gegenteil, ihr Leiden war nur noch schlimmer geworden. 27 Diese Frau hatte von Jesus gehört. Nun drängte sie sich in der Menge von hinten an ihn heran und berührte sein Gewand, 28 denn sie sagte sich: »Wenn ich auch nur sein Gewand berühre, werde ich gesund^[10].« 29 Und wirklich, im selben Augenblick hörte ihre Blutung auf, und sie spürte^[11], dass sie von ihrem Leiden geheilt war. 30 Im selben Augenblick merkte auch Jesus, dass eine Kraft von ihm ausgegangen war. Er drehte sich um und fragte die Leute: »Wer hat mein Gewand berührt?« 31 Seine Jünger erwiderten: »Du siehst doch, wie sich die Menschen um dich drängen, und da fragst du: ›Wer hat mich berührt?‹« 32 Aber Jesus blickte in der Menge umher, um zu sehen, wer^[12] es gewesen war. 33 Zitternd vor Angst trat die Frau vor; sie wusste ja, was mit ihr geschehen war. Sie warf sich vor Jesus nieder und erzählte ihm alles, ohne etwas zu verschweigen^[13]. 34 »Meine Tochter«, sagte Jesus zu ihr, »dein Glaube hat dich gerettet. Geh in Frieden! Du bist^[14] von deinem Leiden geheilt.« 35 Während Jesus noch mit ihr redete, kamen einige Leute vom Haus des Synagogenvorstehers. »Deine Tochter ist gestorben«, sagten sie zu Jairus. »Was bemühst du den Meister noch länger?« 36 Jesus hatte zugehört.^[15] Er wandte sich zu dem Synagogenvorsteher und sagte: »Du brauchst dich nicht zu fürchten; glaube nur^[16]!« 37 Dann ging er weiter, erlaubte aber niemand, ihn zu begleiten, außer Petrus und Jakobus und dessen Bruder Johannes. 38 Als sie zum Haus des Synagogenvorstehers kamen und Jesus sah, wie alles in heller Aufregung war und wie die Menschen laut weinten und klagten, 39 ging er hinein und sagte zu ihnen: »Was soll diese Aufregung? Warum weint ihr? Das Kind ist nicht tot, es schläft nur.« 40 Da lachten sie ihn aus. Er aber schickte alle hinaus bis auf den Vater und die Mutter des Mädchens und die Jünger, die bei ihm waren; mit ihnen ging er in den Raum, in dem das Kind lag. 41 Er ergriff es bei der Hand und sagte zu ihm: »Talita kum^[17]!« (Das bedeutet: »Mädchen, ich befehle dir: Steh auf!«) 42 Und zum grenzenlosen Erstaunen aller erhob sich das Mädchen und fing an umherzugehen; es war zwölf Jahre alt. 43 Doch Jesus verbot ihnen ausdrücklich, jemand etwas davon zu erzählen; und er ordnete an, dem Mädchen etwas zu essen zu geben.

1 And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. 2 And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, 3 Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: 4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him. 5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. 6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him, 7 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. 8 For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit. 9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many. 10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country. 11 Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding. 12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. 13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea. 14 And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done. 15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. 16 And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine. 17 And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts. 18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him. 19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee. 20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel. 21 And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea. 22 And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet, 23 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live. 24 And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him. 25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, 26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, 27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. 28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. 29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. 30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes? 31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? 32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. 33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. 34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague. 35 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further? 36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe. 37 And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James. 38 And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly. 39 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth. 40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying. 41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise. 42 And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment. 43 And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.
