1 Als Jesus wieder einmal am See lehrte, versammelte sich eine so große Menschenmenge um ihn, dass er sich in ein Boot setzte; so konnte er vom See aus zu der ganzen Menge sprechen, die sich am Ufer befand^[1]. (Mt 13,1; Lk 8,4)

Das Gleichnis von der Saat, die auf viererlei Boden fällt

2 Jesus lehrte sie vieles, und er gebrauchte dazu Gleichnisse.; Unter anderem^[2] sagte er: (Mt 13,3; Lk 8,5) 3 »Hört zu! Ein Bauer ging aufs Feld, um zu säen. 4 Beim Ausstreuen der Saat fiel einiges auf den Weg^[3]. Da kamen die Vögel und pickten es auf. 5 Einiges fiel auf felsigen Boden, der nur von einer dünnen Erdschicht bedeckt war. Weil die Saat dort so wenig Erde hatte, ging sie rasch auf. 6 Als dann aber die Sonne höher stieg, wurden die jungen Pflanzen versengt, und weil sie keine kräftigen Wurzeln hatten, verdorrten sie. 7 Einiges fiel ins Dorngestrüpp, und die Dornensträucher überwucherten und erstickten die Saat, sodass sie keine Frucht brachte. 8 Und einiges fiel auf guten Boden, ging auf, wuchs und brachte Frucht, dreißigfach oder sechzigfach oder sogar hundertfach.« 9 Jesus schloss mit den Worten: »Wer Ohren hat und hören kann, der höre!«

Erklärung des Gleichnisses von der Saat

10 Als die Zwölf und die anderen, die zum Jüngerkreis gehörten, mit Jesus allein waren, fragten sie ihn nach der Bedeutung seiner Gleichnisse.^[4] (Mt 13,10; Lk 8,9) 11 Da sagte er zu ihnen: »Euch ist es von Gott gegeben, das Geheimnis seines Reiches zu verstehen^[5], den Außenstehenden aber wird alles nur in Gleichnissen verkündet. 12 Denn ›mögen sie auch sehen, sie sollen nichts erkennen, und mögen sie auch hören, sie sollen nichts verstehen, damit sie nicht etwa umkehren und ihnen vergeben wird‹^[6].« 13 Dann fuhr er fort: »Dieses Gleichnis versteht ihr nicht? Wie wollt ihr dann überhaupt^[7] Gleichnisse verstehen? 14 Der Bauer^[8] sät das Wort. 15 Bei einigen Menschen ist es wie mit der Saat, die auf den Weg fällt. Das Wort wird gesät, doch sobald sie es gehört haben, kommt der Satan und nimmt das Wort wieder weg, das in sie hineingesät worden ist. 16 Bei anderen ist es wie mit der Saat, die auf felsigen Boden fällt. Wenn sie das Wort hören, nehmen sie es sofort mit Freuden auf, 17 aber sie sind unbeständige Menschen, Pflanzen ohne Wurzeln. Sobald sie wegen des Wortes in Bedrängnis geraten oder sogar verfolgt werden, wenden sie sich wieder davon ab. 18 Wieder bei anderen ist es wie mit der Saat, die ins Dorngestrüpp fällt. Sie hören das Wort, 19 doch dann gewinnen die Sorgen dieser Welt, die Verlockungen des Reichtums und andere Begierden Raum und ersticken das Wort, und es bleibt ohne Frucht. 20 Bei anderen schließlich ist es wie mit der Saat, die auf guten Boden fällt. Sie hören das Wort, nehmen es auf und bringen Frucht: dreißigfach, sechzigfach und hundertfach.«

Der Vergleich mit der Lampe

21 Weiter sagte Jesus zu ihnen: »Bringt man etwa eine Lampe ´in einen Raum`, um sie unter ein Gefäß oder unter das Bett zu stellen? Nein, man stellt sie auf den Lampenständer. (Mt 5,15; Lk 8,16) 22 So gibt es auch nichts Geheimes, was geheim bleibt; alles ist dazu bestimmt, offenbart zu werden. Und es gibt nichts Verborgenes, was verborgen bleibt; alles soll bekannt gemacht werden. 23 Wenn jemand Ohren hat und hören kann, dann höre er!« 24 »Achtet auf das, was ihr hört!«, fuhr Jesus fort. »Nach dem Maß, mit dem ihr messt, wird euch euer Teil zugemessen werden; ja, es wird euch noch mehr gegeben werden. 25 Denn wer hat, dem wird gegeben; aber wer nicht hat, dem wird auch das genommen, was er hat.«

Das Gleichnis vom Wachsen der Saat

26 »Mit dem Reich Gottes«, so erklärte Jesus weiter, »ist es wie mit einem Bauern^[9], der die Saat auf seinem Acker ausgestreut hat. 27 Er legt sich schlafen, er steht wieder auf, ein Tag folgt dem anderen^[10]; und die Saat geht auf und wächst – wie, das weiß er selbst nicht. 28 Ganz von selbst bringt die Erde Frucht hervor: zuerst die Halme, dann die Ähren und schließlich das ausgereifte Korn in den Ähren. 29 Sobald die Frucht reif ist, lässt er das Getreide schneiden^[11]; die Zeit der Ernte ist da.«

Das Gleichnis vom Senfkorn

30 »Womit sollen wir das Reich Gottes noch vergleichen?«, fragte Jesus. »Mit welchem Gleichnis sollen wir es darstellen? (Mt 13,31; Lk 13,18) 31 Es gleicht einem Senfkorn. Das ist das kleinste aller Samenkörner, die man in die Erde sät. 32 Aber wenn es einmal gesät ist, geht es auf und wird größer als alle anderen Gartenpflanzen. Es treibt so große Zweige, dass die Vögel^[12] in seinem Schatten nisten können.«

Die Gleichnisse in Jesu Verkündigung

33 Jesus gebrauchte viele solche Gleichnisse, um den Leuten das Wort ´Gottes` so zu verkünden, dass sie es verstehen konnten. (Mt 13,34) 34 Er sprach ausschließlich in Gleichnissen zu ihnen. Seinen Jüngern aber legte er alles aus, wenn er mit ihnen allein war.

Der Sturm auf dem See

35 Am Abend jenes Tages sagte Jesus zu seinen Jüngern: »Wir wollen ans andere Ufer fahren!« (Mt 8,18; Mt 8,23; Lk 8,22) 36 Sie schickten die Menge nach Hause, stiegen in das Boot, in dem Jesus bereits war, und fuhren mit ihm ab. Einige andere Boote begleiteten sie^[13]. 37 Plötzlich brach ein heftiger Sturm los; die Wellen schlugen ins Boot, und es begann sich mit Wasser zu füllen. 38 Jesus aber schlief im hinteren Teil des Bootes auf einem Kissen. Die Jünger weckten ihn und schrien: »Meister, macht es dir nichts aus, dass wir umkommen?« 39 Jesus stand auf^[14], wies den Wind in seine Schranken und befahl dem See: »Schweig! Sei still!« Da legte sich der Wind, und es trat eine große Stille ein. 40 »Warum habt ihr solche Angst?«, sagte Jesus zu seinen Jüngern. »Habt ihr immer noch keinen Glauben?« 41 Jetzt wurden sie erst recht von Furcht gepackt. Sie sagten zueinander: »Wer ist nur dieser Mann, dass ihm sogar Wind und Wellen gehorchen?«

1 And he began again to teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land. 2 And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine, 3 Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow: 4 And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up. 5 And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth: 6 But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away. 7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit. 8 And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred. 9 And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. 10 And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable. 11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: 12 That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them. 13 And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables? 14 The sower soweth the word. 15 And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts. 16 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; 17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended. 18 And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, 19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. 20 And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred. 21 And he said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick? 22 For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad. 23 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. 24 And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given. 25 For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath. 26 And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; 27 And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how. 28 For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear. 29 But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come. 30 And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it? 31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth: 32 But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it. 33 And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it. 34 But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples. 35 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. 36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. 37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. 38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? 39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
