1To the choirmaster. Of David, the servant of the Lord. Transgression speaks to the wicked deep in his heart;[1] there is no fear of God before his eyes. (Sal 18:1; Ro 3:18)2For he flatters himself in his own eyes that his iniquity cannot be found out and hated. (Dt 29:19; Sal 10:3; Sal 49:18)3The words of his mouth are trouble and deceit; he has ceased to act wisely and do good. (Sal 12:2; Jer 4:22)4He plots trouble while on his bed; he sets himself in a way that is not good; he does not reject evil. (Sal 10:7; Sal 97:10; Pr 4:16; Is 65:2; Miq 2:1)5Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds.6Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; your judgments are like the great deep; man and beast you save, O Lord. (Neh 9:6; Sal 71:19; Sal 92:5; Sal 104:14; Sal 145:9; Sal 145:15; Ro 11:33)7How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings. (Rt 2:12; Sal 31:19)8They feast on the abundance of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights. (Sal 16:11; Sal 23:5; Sal 27:4; Sal 46:4; Sal 65:4; Is 25:6; Jer 31:12; Ap 22:1)9For with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light. (Jer 2:13; Jn 1:9; Jn 4:10; Jn 4:14; Jn 5:26; Hch 26:18; 1 P 2:9)10Oh, continue your steadfast love to those who know you, and your righteousness to the upright of heart! (Sal 7:10; Sal 79:6; Jer 22:16; Gl 4:9)11Let not the foot of arrogance come upon me, nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.12There the evildoers lie fallen; they are thrust down, unable to rise. (Sal 1:5; Sal 94:4)
