1¡Yo vi al SEÑOR el año que murió el rey Uzías! Ocupaba un trono sublime, y el templo estaba lleno de su gloria.2Sobre él revoloteaban poderosos serafines de seis alas. Con dos alas se cubrían el rostro, con otras dos se cubrían los pies y con dos volaban.3En gran coro antifonal cantaban: ―Santo, Santo, Santo es el SEÑOR Todopoderoso; toda la tierra está llena de su gloria.4¡Qué tremendo canto! Hizo temblar el templo hasta sus cimientos, y súbitamente todo el santuario se llenó de humo.5Entonces dije: «¡Esta es mi muerte! Porque soy un pecador de boca impura, miembro de una raza pecadora, de inmunda boca, y sin embargo he mirado al Rey, al SEÑOR Todopoderoso».6Entonces uno de los serafines voló hacia el altar y con unas tenazas sacó una brasa.7Con ella me tocó los labios y dijo: ―Con esto se te declara “inocente”, porque esta brasa tocó tus labios. Todos tus pecados quedan perdonados.8―¿A quién enviaré por mensajero a mi pueblo? ¿Quién irá? —oí al SEÑOR preguntar. Y yo dije: ―SEÑOR ¡yo voy! Envíame a mí.9Él dijo: ―¡Ve! Pero dile esto a mi pueblo: “Aunque una y otra vez oyen mis palabras, no quieren entenderlas. Por más que me ven hacer milagros repetidas veces, no quieren entender su significado”.10Quítales la inteligencia, tápales los oídos y ciérrales los ojos. No quiero que vean, oigan ni entiendan, ni que se vuelvan a mí para que los sane.11Entonces dije: ―SEÑOR, ¿cuánto tiempo pasará antes que estén dispuestos a escuchar? Y él respondió: ―No será sino hasta que sus ciudades sean destruidas y no quede persona con vida, y todo el país esté desolado,12y todos sean llevados como esclavos a países lejanos, y toda la tierra de Israel quede desierta.13Pero la décima parte, un remanente, sobrevivirá; y aunque Israel sea invadido y destruido una y otra vez, será como árbol talado que aún conserva vida para retoñar.
1In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train[1] of his robe filled the temple. Isaiah’s Commission from the Lord
8And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” (Gn 1:26)9And he said, “Go, and say to this people: “‘Keep on hearing,[3] but do not understand; keep on seeing,[4] but do not perceive.’ (Mt 13:14; Mr 4:12; Lc 8:10; Hch 28:26; Ro 11:8)10Make the heart of this people dull,[5] and their ears heavy, and blind their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.” (Sal 119:70; Jer 5:21; Jn 12:40)11Then I said, “How long, O Lord?” And he said: “Until cities lie waste without inhabitant, and houses without people, and the land is a desolate waste, (Sal 79:5; Sal 89:46; Is 1:7; Is 27:10)12and the Lord removes people far away, and the forsaken places are many in the midst of the land.13And though a tenth remain in it, it will be burned[6] again, like a terebinth or an oak, whose stump remains when it is felled.” The holy seed[7] is its stump.
