1Este es el mensaje de Dios respecto a Babilonia: Desde el desierto viene contra ustedes un desastre rugiente, como son los torbellinos arrasadores del sur.2Veo una espantosa visión: ¡Oh, qué horrendo! Dios me dice lo que hará: ¡los veo saqueados y destruidos! Elamitas y medos participarán en el asedio. Babilonia caerá, y entonces llegará a su fin el gemido de todas las naciones que ella esclavizó.3Tengo retortijones y dolor de estómago, siento agudas punzadas de horror, como de mujer que da a luz. Me desmayo al oír lo que Dios planea, estoy horrorizado, me ciega la angustia.4Yo desvarío, el corazón me late impetuoso, soy presa de espantoso miedo. Todo reposo nocturno —¡qué agradable era!— ha desaparecido; estoy en mi lecho desierto y tembloroso.5¡Miren! ¡Están preparando un gran banquete! Llenan de manjares las mesas, arman sus sillas para comer… ¡Vamos! ¡Pronto, tomen los escudos y alístense para el combate! ¡Los están atacando!6-7Mientras tanto en mi visión el SEÑOR me había dicho: Coloca un vigía sobre la muralla de la ciudad para que grite lo que vea: Cuando vea pares de jinetes cabalgando en burros y camellos, dile: «¡Ya está!».8-9Coloqué, pues, al vigía sobre la muralla y al fin él gritó: ―SEÑOR, día y noche he estado aquí en mi puesto; ahora por fin, ¡mire! ¡Allá vienen jinetes apareados! Entonces oí una voz que clamaba: ―¡Cayó, cayó Babilonia, y todos los ídolos de Babilonia yacen despedazados por tierra!10¡Oh pueblo mío, trillado y aventado, les he dicho cuanto el SEÑOR Todopoderoso, el Dios de Israel, ha dicho!
Profecía contra Edom
11Este es el mensaje de Dios para Edom: Alguien de entre ustedes continuamente me llama: «Guarda, ¿qué de la noche? Guarda, ¿qué de la noche? ¿Cuánto tiempo falta?».12El guarda responde: «El día de su juicio está amaneciendo. Vuélvanse a Dios para que yo pueda darles mejores noticias. Búsquenlo, y luego vuelvan a preguntar».
Profecía contra Arabia
13Este es el mensaje de Dios respecto a Arabia: «¡Oh caravanas procedentes de Dedán, ustedes se ocultarán en los desiertos de Arabia!14Pueblo de Temá: Traigan comida y agua para estos cansados fugitivos.15Vienen huyendo de las espadas desnudas, las agudas flechas y los terrores de la guerra.16Mas pasará un largo año a partir de ahora, dice el SEÑOR, y el gran poder del enemigo de ellos, la poderosa tribu de Cedar, acabará.17Sólo unos cuantos de sus aguerridos arqueros sobrevivirán». El SEÑOR, el Dios de Israel, ha hablado.
