Profecía contra Egipto

1 Este es el mensaje de Dios respecto a Egipto: ¡Miren! ¡Cabalgando en veloz nube el SEÑOR viene contra Egipto! ¡Los ídolos de Egipto tiemblan, los corazones de los egipcios se derriten de miedo! 2 Yo los pondré a pelear unos contra otros: hermano contra hermano, vecino contra vecino, ciudad contra ciudad, provincia contra provincia. 3 Sus sabios consejeros ya no hallan qué hacer. Piden sabiduría a sus ídolos, consultan a médium, hechiceros y brujas para que los orienten. 4 Yo entregaré a Egipto en manos de un amo duro y cruel, un rey despiadado, dice el verdadero amo de ustedes, el SEÑOR Todopoderoso. 5 Y las aguas del Nilo no subirán ni inundarán los campos. Las acequias quedarán resquebrajadas y secas, 6 pestilentes sus canales por las cañas podridas, 7 todo lo verde por las riberas del río se marchitará y el viento se lo llevará. Los cultivos se secarán, todo morirá. 8 Llorarán los pescadores por falta de trabajo, ni los que pescan con anzuelo ni los que usan redes tendrán qué hacer. 9 Los tejedores carecerán de lino y de algodón, pues las cosechas se perderán. 10 Los hombres, grandes y pequeños, estarán abatidos y quebrantados. 11 ¡Qué necios consejeros tiene Zoán! El mejor de sus consejos para el rey de Egipto es completamente insensato y equivocado. ¿Continuarán vanagloriándose de su sabiduría? ¿Osarán hablarle al faraón de los muchos sabios que hay entre sus ascendientes? 12 ¿Qué fue de tus«sabios consejeros», faraón? ¿A dónde se les fue la sabiduría? Si son sabios, que te digan lo que el SEÑOR le hará a Egipto. 13 Los«sabios» de Zoán también son necios y los de Menfis absolutamente ilusos. Son los mejores que puedes hallar, pero han arruinado a Egipto con su necio consejo. 14 El SEÑOR les envió espíritu de necedad para que todo lo que sugieran sea equivocado. Hacen que Egipto se tambalee como un borracho enfermo. 15 Nada ni nadie podrá salvar a Egipto, nadie puede mostrarle el camino. 16 En aquel día los egipcios serán tan débiles como mujeres, temblando de miedo ante el puño alzado de Dios. 17 La simple mención del nombre de Israel les infundirá terror en el corazón, porque el SEÑOR Todopoderoso ha trazado sus planes contra ellos. 18 En aquel tiempo, cinco de las ciudades de Egipto seguirán al SEÑOR Todopoderoso y comenzarán a hablar el idioma hebreo. Una será Heliópolis (La Ciudad del Sol). 19 Y habrá en aquellos días un altar al SEÑOR en el corazón de Egipto, y un monumento al SEÑOR en sus fronteras. 20 Esta será señal de lealtad al SEÑOR Todopoderoso. Entonces, cuando clamen al SEÑOR pidiendo ayuda contra quienes los oprimen, él les enviará un Salvador, y este los librará. 21 En aquel día el SEÑOR se dará a conocer a los egipcios. Sí, ellos conocerán al SEÑOR y le darán sus sacrificios y ofrendas, le harán promesas a Dios y las cumplirán. 22 El SEÑOR herirá a Egipto y luego lo restaurará, porque los egipcios se volverán al SEÑOR y él escuchará la súplica de ellos y los sanará. 23 En aquel día Egipto e Irak estarán unidos por una carretera y egipcios e iraquíes viajarán libremente entre uno y otro país, y adorarán al mismo Dios, 24 e Israel será su aliado. Los tres estarán juntos e Israel será para ellos bendición. 25 Porque el SEÑOR bendecirá a Egipto y a Irak por causa de su amistad con Israel. Él dirá: «Bendito sea Egipto, pueblo mío; bendito sea Irak, nación que yo hice; bendito sea Israel, heredad mía».

An Oracle Concerning Egypt

1 An oracle concerning Egypt. Behold, the Lord is riding on a swift cloud and comes to Egypt; and the idols of Egypt will tremble at his presence, and the heart of the Egyptians will melt within them. (Ex 12:12; Jos 2:11; 1 S 5:3; Sal 18:10; Sal 104:3; Is 13:1; Is 13:7; Jer 43:12; Jer 46:13; Jer 50:2; Ez 29:1; Ez 31:18; Jl 3:19; Mt 26:64; Ap 1:7)

2 And I will stir up Egyptians against Egyptians, and they will fight, each against another and each against his neighbor, city against city, kingdom against kingdom; (Jue 7:22) 3 and the spirit of the Egyptians within them will be emptied out, and I will confound^[1] their counsel; and they will inquire of the idols and the sorcerers, and the mediums and the necromancers; (Is 8:19; Is 19:11) 4 and I will give over the Egyptians into the hand of a hard master, and a fierce king will rule over them, declares the Lord God of hosts. (Is 20:4; Jer 46:26; Ez 29:19) 5 And the waters of the sea will be dried up, and the river will be dry and parched, 6 and its canals will become foul, and the branches of Egypt’s Nile will diminish and dry up, reeds and rushes will rot away. 7 There will be bare places by the Nile, on the brink of the Nile, and all that is sown by the Nile will be parched, will be driven away, and will be no more. 8 The fishermen will mourn and lament, all who cast a hook in the Nile; and they will languish who spread nets on the water. (Nm 11:5) 9 The workers in combed flax will be in despair, and the weavers of white cotton. (Ez 27:7) 10 Those who are the pillars of the land will be crushed, and all who work for pay will be grieved. (Jer 46:21; Gl 2:9) 11 The princes of Zoan are utterly foolish; the wisest counselors of Pharaoh give stupid counsel. How can you say to Pharaoh, “I am a son of the wise, a son of ancient kings”? (Nm 13:22; Sal 78:43; Is 30:4) 12 Where then are your wise men? Let them tell you that they might know what the Lord of hosts has purposed against Egypt. (1 R 4:30; Hch 7:22) 13 The princes of Zoan have become fools, and the princes of Memphis are deluded; those who are the cornerstones of her tribes have made Egypt stagger. 14 The Lord has mingled within her a spirit of confusion, and they will make Egypt stagger in all its deeds, as a drunken man staggers in his vomit. (1 R 22:22; Is 24:20; Is 29:9) 15 And there will be nothing for Egypt that head or tail, palm branch or reed, may do. (Is 9:14)

16 In that day the Egyptians will be like women, and tremble with fear before the hand that the Lord of hosts shakes over them. (Is 10:32; Jer 50:37; Jer 51:30; Nah 3:13)

17 And the land of Judah will become a terror to the Egyptians. Everyone to whom it is mentioned will fear because of the purpose that the Lord of hosts has purposed against them. 18 In that day there will be five cities in the land of Egypt that speak the language of Canaan and swear allegiance to the Lord of hosts. 19 In that day there will be an altar to the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to the Lord at its border. (Gn 28:18; 2 R 5:17) 20 It will be a sign and a witness to the Lord of hosts in the land of Egypt. When they cry to the Lord because of oppressors, he will send them a savior and defender, and deliver them. (Is 19:19; Abd 1:21) 21 And the Lord will make himself known to the Egyptians, and the Egyptians will know the Lord in that day and worship with sacrifice and offering, and they will make vows to the Lord and perform them. (Is 2:2; Is 19:25; Zac 14:16) 22 And the Lord will strike Egypt, striking and healing, and they will return to the Lord, and he will listen to their pleas for mercy and heal them. (Jer 46:25) 23 In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria, and Assyria will come into Egypt, and Egypt into Assyria, and the Egyptians will worship with the Assyrians. 24 In that day Israel will be the third with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the earth, (Gn 12:2) 25 whom the Lord of hosts has blessed, saying, “Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel my inheritance.” (Dt 32:9; Is 29:23; Os 2:23)
