1También debes saber, Timoteo, que los últimos tiempos serán difíciles.2La gente amará sólo el dinero y se amará a sí misma; será orgullosa, jactanciosa, blasfema, desobediente a sus padres, ingrata e impía.3Serán tan duras de corazón que jamás cederán ante los demás; serán mentirosas, inmorales, crueles y opuestas a todo lo que es bueno.4Traicionarán a sus amigos; serán iracundas, vanidosas y preferirán los placeres antes que a Dios.5Aparentarán ser religiosas, pero su conducta desmentirá sus apariencias. ¡No tengas nada que ver con esa gente!6Esas personas son los que se introducen en casas ajenas y engañan a mujeres tontas y cargadas de pecado, a las que les gusta correr en pos de sus pasiones;7siempre están aprendiendo, pero nunca logran conocer la verdad.8Así como Janes y Jambres combatieron a Moisés, aquellas personas combaten la verdad; tienen la mente depravada y han fracasado en la fe.9Pero no siempre se saldrán con la suya. Un día, su estupidez quedará al descubierto ante todo el mundo, de la misma manera que les pasó a Janes y Jambres.

10Pero tú conoces muy bien mis enseñanzas y sabes cómo me comporto; sabes cuáles han sido siempre mis creencias y mis propósitos. Conoces mi fe en Cristo y cuánto he sufrido por él. Sabes del amor que te profeso y de mi paciencia.11También sabes cuántas persecuciones y sufrimientos he tenido que afrontar especialmente en Antioquía, Iconio y Listra; pero el Señor me ha librado de todo ello.12¡Quien quiera vivir piadosamente para Cristo Jesús sufrirá persecuciones!13Pero las personas perversas y engañadoras irán de mal en peor, seguirán engañando a muchos, y ellas mismas serán engañadas.14Pero tú sigue firme en lo que has aprendido, de lo que estás convencido. Ya sabes de quiénes lo aprendiste.15Desde tu niñez conoces las Sagradas Escrituras, y estas te pueden dar la sabiduría que se necesita para la salvación mediante la fe en Cristo Jesús.16La Escritura entera es inspirada por Dios y es útil para enseñarnos, para reprendernos, para corregirnos y para indicarnos cómo llevar una vida justa.17De esa manera, los servidores de Dios estarán plenamente capacitados para hacer el bien.
1But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. (1 Ti 4:1)2For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, (Lc 16:14; Ro 1:30; Flp 2:21; 1 Ti 6:10)3heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, (Ro 1:31; Tit 1:8)4treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, (Flp 3:19; 1 Ti 3:6; 1 Ti 6:4)5having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. (1 Ti 5:8; 1 Ti 6:20; Tit 1:14)6For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, (Tit 1:11)7always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth. (1 Ti 2:4)8Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men corrupted in mind and disqualified regarding the faith. (Ex 7:11; Hch 13:8; 1 Ti 6:5; Tit 1:16)9But they will not get very far, for their folly will be plain to all, as was that of those two men. (Ex 7:12; Ex 8:18; Ex 9:11)
All Scripture Is Breathed Out by God
10You, however, have followed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness, (Flp 2:22)11my persecutions and sufferings that happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra—which persecutions I endured; yet from them all the Lord rescued me. (Sal 34:19; Hch 13:14; Hch 13:45; Hch 13:50; Hch 14:1; Hch 14:5; Hch 14:6; Hch 14:19; 2 Co 1:10; 2 Ti 4:17)12Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, (Hch 14:22; Tit 2:12)13while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. (Tit 3:3; Ap 22:11)14But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom[1] you learned it (1 Ti 4:6)15and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. (Sal 119:99; Jn 5:39; Ef 6:4; 2 Ti 1:5)16All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, (Ro 15:4; 2 P 1:20)17that the man of God[2] may be complete, equipped for every good work. (Lc 6:40; 1 Ti 6:11; 2 Ti 2:21)
