1 إِلَيْكَ رَفَعْتُ عَيْنَيَّ يَا سَاكِناً فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ. 2 كَمَا تَتَعَلَّقُ عُيُونُ الْعَبِيدِ بِأَيْدِي سَادَتِهِمْ، وَعَيْنَا الْجَارِيَةِ بِيَدِ سَيِّدَتِهَا، هَكَذَا تَتَعَلَّقُ أَنْظَارُنَا بِالرَّبِّ إِلَهِنَا حَتَّى يَتَحَنَّنَ عَلَيْنَا. 3 ارْحَمْنَا يَا رَبُّ، ارْحَمْنَا، فَقَدْ شَبِعْنَا احْتِقَاراً. 4 شَبِعَتْ نُفُوسُنَا كَثِيراً مِنْ هُزْءِ الْمُطْمَئِنِّينَ وَازْدِرَاءِ الْمُتَكَبِّرِينَ.

1 A Song of Ascents. To you I lift up my eyes, O you who are enthroned in the heavens! (مز 2:4; مز 25:15; مز 120:1; مز 121:1; مز 141:8) 2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maidservant to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the Lord our God, till he has mercy upon us. 3 Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us, for we have had more than enough of contempt. (نح 4:4; مز 4:1) 4 Our soul has had more than enough of the scorn of those who are at ease, of the contempt of the proud. (نح 2:19; مز 119:51; إش 32:9; إش 32:11; عا 6:1)
