1 Dem Musikmeister über das Saitenspiel; von David. 2 Höre, o Gott, mein lautes Rufen, achte auf mein Gebet! 3 Vom Ende der Erde^[1] ruf’ ich zu dir, da mein Herz verschmachtet^[2]. Auf einen Felsen, der mir zu hoch ist, wollest du mich führen! 4 Denn du bist mir stets eine Zuflucht gewesen, ein starker Turm vor dem Feinde. 5 Könnt’ ich doch allzeit weilen in deinem Zelt, im Schutze deiner Flügel mich bergen! SELA. 6 Denn du, Gott, hörst auf meine Gelübde, hast Besitz (mir) gewährt, wie die ihn erhalten, die deinen Namen fürchten. 7 Füge neue Tage den Tagen des Königs hinzu, laß seine Jahre dauern für und für! 8 Ewig^[3] möge er thronen vor Gottes Angesicht! Entbiete Gnade und Treue, daß sie ihn behüten! 9 Dafür will ich ewig deinem Namen lobsingen, auf daß^[4] ich meine Gelübde bezahle^[5] Tag für Tag.

1 God, hear my cry for help. Listen to my prayer. 2 From a place far away I call out to you. I call out as my heart gets weaker. Lead me to the safety of a rock that is high above me. 3 You have always kept me safe from my enemies. You are like a strong tower to me. 4 I long to live in your holy tent for ever. There I find safety in the shadow of your wings. 5 God, you have heard my promises. You have given me what belongs to those who worship you. 6 Add many days to the king’s life. Let him live on and on for many years. 7 May he always enjoy your blessing as he rules. Let your love and truth keep him safe. 8 Then I will always sing praise to you. I will keep my promises day after day.

Lead Me to the Rock

1 To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. Of David. Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer; (Ps 4,1; Ps 55,1) 2 from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I, (Ps 18,2; Ps 77,3) 3 for you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy. (Ps 14,6; Spr 18,10) 4 Let me dwell in your tent forever! Let me take refuge under the shelter of your wings! (Ps 15,1; Ps 17,8; Ps 27,4) 5 For you, O God, have heard my vows; you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name. 6 Prolong the life of the king; may his years endure to all generations! (Ps 21,4; Ps 63,11) 7 May he be enthroned forever before God; appoint steadfast love and faithfulness to watch over him! (Ps 40,11) 8 So will I ever sing praises to your name, as I perform my vows day after day. (Ps 50,14)
