1 Dies ist das Gesicht, das Jesaja, der Sohn des Amoz, schaute über Juda und Jerusalem zur Zeit des Usija, Jotam, Ahas und Hiskia, der Könige von Juda. (2Chr 26,22; Jes 2,1)

Gottes Anklage gegen das abtrünnige Volk

2 Höret, ihr Himmel, und Erde, nimm zu Ohren, denn der HERR redet: Ich habe Kinder großgezogen und hochgebracht, und sie sind von mir abgefallen! (5Mo 32,1) 3 Ein Ochse kennt seinen Herrn und ein Esel die Krippe seines Herrn; aber Israel kennt’s nicht, und mein Volk versteht’s nicht. 4 Wehe dem sündigen Volk, dem Volk mit Schuld beladen, dem boshaften Geschlecht, den verderbten Kindern, die den HERRN verlassen, den Heiligen Israels lästern, die abgefallen sind! (Jes 30,1; Jes 30,9) 5 Wohin soll man euch noch schlagen, die ihr doch weiter im Abfall verharrt? Das ganze Haupt ist krank, das ganze Herz ist matt. (Jer 2,30) 6 Von der Fußsohle bis zum Haupt ist nichts Gesundes an ihm, sondern Beulen und Striemen und frische Wunden, die nicht gereinigt noch verbunden noch mit Öl gelindert sind. (5Mo 28,35) 7 Euer Land ist verwüstet, eure Städte sind mit Feuer verbrannt; Fremde verzehren eure Äcker vor euren Augen; alles ist verwüstet wie durch Fremde verheert. 8 Übrig geblieben ist allein die Tochter Zion wie ein Häuslein im Weinberg, wie eine Nachthütte im Gurkenfeld, wie eine belagerte Stadt. 9 Hätte uns der HERR Zebaoth nicht einen geringen Rest übrig gelassen, so wären wir wie Sodom und gleich wie Gomorra. (1Mo 19,24; Röm 9,29) 10 Höret des HERRN Wort, ihr Herren von Sodom! Nimm zu Ohren die Weisung unsres Gottes, du Volk von Gomorra! 11 Was soll mir die Menge eurer Opfer?, spricht der HERR. Ich bin satt der Brandopfer von Widdern und des Fettes von Mastkälbern und habe kein Gefallen am Blut der Stiere, der Lämmer und Böcke. (Ps 40,7; Jes 66,3; Jer 6,20; Hos 8,13; Am 5,21)

12 Wenn ihr kommt, zu erscheinen vor meinem Angesicht – wer fordert denn von euch, dass ihr meine Vorhöfe zertretet? 13 Bringt nicht mehr dar so vergebliche Speisopfer! Das Räucherwerk ist mir ein Gräuel! Neumond und Sabbat, den Ruf zur Versammlung – Frevel und Festversammlung – ich mag es nicht! (4Mo 10,10) 14 Meine Seele ist feind euren Neumonden und Jahresfesten; sie sind mir eine Last, ich bin’s müde, sie zu tragen. 15 Und wenn ihr auch eure Hände ausbreitet, verberge ich doch meine Augen vor euch; und wenn ihr auch viel betet, höre ich euch doch nicht; denn eure Hände sind voll Blut. 16 Wascht euch, reinigt euch, tut eure bösen Taten aus meinen Augen. Lasst ab vom Bösen, 17 lernt Gutes tun! Trachtet nach Recht, helft den Unterdrückten, schafft den Waisen Recht, führt der Witwen Sache! (Jer 7,5) 18 So kommt denn und lasst uns miteinander rechten, spricht der HERR. Wenn eure Sünde auch blutrot ist, soll sie doch schneeweiß werden, und wenn sie rot ist wie Purpur, soll sie doch wie Wolle werden. (Ps 51,9; Jes 44,22) 19 Wollt ihr mir gehorchen, so sollt ihr des Landes Gut genießen. (3Mo 25,18) 20 Weigert ihr euch aber und seid ungehorsam, so sollt ihr vom Schwert gefressen werden; denn der Mund des HERRN hat’s geredet. (3Mo 26,25; Jes 40,5; Jes 58,14)

Gottes Gericht zur Läuterung Jerusalems

21 Ach, wie ist zur Hure geworden die treue Stadt! Sie war voll Recht, Gerechtigkeit wohnte darin; nun aber – Mörder. 22 Dein Silber ist Schlacke geworden und dein Wein mit Wasser verfälscht. (Jer 6,28; Hes 22,18) 23 Deine Fürsten sind Abtrünnige und Diebsgesellen, sie nehmen alle gern Geschenke an und trachten nach Gaben. Den Waisen schaffen sie nicht Recht, und der Witwen Sache kommt nicht vor sie. 24 Darum spricht der Herr, der HERR Zebaoth, der Mächtige Israels: Wehe! Ich werde mir Trost schaffen an meinen Feinden und mich rächen an meinen Widersachern 25 und will meine Hand wider dich kehren und wie mit Lauge ausschmelzen, was Schlacke ist, und all dein Zinn ausscheiden. (Ps 119,119) 26 Und ich will dir wieder Richter geben, wie sie vormals waren, und Ratsherren wie im Anfang. Alsdann wirst du eine Stadt der Gerechtigkeit und eine treue Stadt heißen. (Sach 8,3) 27 Zion wird durch Recht erlöst werden, und wer dorthin umkehrt, durch Gerechtigkeit. (Jes 46,13) 28 Die Übertreter aber und Sünder werden allesamt zerbrochen werden, und die den HERRN verlassen, werden umkommen. 29 Denn sie sollen zuschanden werden wegen der Eichen, an denen ihr eure Lust habt, und ihr sollt schamrot werden wegen der Gärten, die ihr erwählt habt. (Jes 57,5; Jes 65,3; Jes 66,17) 30 Denn ihr werdet sein wie eine Eiche mit dürren Blättern und wie ein Garten ohne Wasser; 31 und der Starke wird sein wie Werg und sein Tun wie ein Funke, und beides wird miteinander brennen und niemand löscht.

Peccati di Giuda e castigo

1 Visione che Isaia, figlio di Amots, ebbe riguardo a Giuda e a Gerusalemme ai giorni di Uzzia, di Iotam, di Acaz e di Ezechia, re di Giuda. 2 Udite, o cieli! E tu, terra, presta orecchio! Poiché il Signore parla: «Ho nutrito dei figli e li ho allevati, ma essi si sono ribellati a me. 3 Il bue conosce il suo possessore e l’asino la greppia del suo padrone, ma Israele non ha conoscenza, il mio popolo non ha discernimento». 4 Guai alla nazione peccatrice, popolo carico d’iniquità, razza di malvagi, figli corrotti! Hanno abbandonato il Signore, hanno disprezzato il Santo d’Israele, hanno voltato le spalle e si sono allontanati. 5 Per quale ragione colpirvi ancora? Aggiungereste altre rivolte. Tutto il capo è malato, tutto il cuore è languente. 6 Dalla pianta del piede fino alla testa non c’è nulla di sano in esso: non ci sono che ferite, contusioni, piaghe aperte, che non sono state ripulite, né fasciate, né lenite con olio. 7 Il vostro paese è desolato, le vostre città sono consumate dal fuoco, i vostri campi li divorano degli stranieri, sotto i vostri occhi; tutto è devastato, come per un sovvertimento di barbari. 8 La figlia di Sion è rimasta come un frascato in una vigna, come una capanna in un campo di cocomeri, come una città assediata. 9 Se il Signore degli eserciti non ci avesse lasciato un piccolo residuo, saremmo come Sodoma, somiglieremmo a Gomorra. 10 Ascoltate la parola del Signore, capi di Sodoma! Prestate orecchio alla legge del nostro Dio, popolo di Gomorra! 11 «Che m’importa dei vostri numerosi sacrifici?», dice il Signore; «io sono sazio degli olocausti di montoni e del grasso di bestie ingrassate; il sangue dei tori, degli agnelli e dei capri, io non lo gradisco. 12 Quando venite a presentarvi davanti a me, chi vi ha chiesto di contaminare i miei cortili? 13 Smettete di portare offerte inutili; l’incenso io lo detesto; e quanto ai noviluni, ai sabati, al convocare riunioni, io non posso sopportare l’iniquità unita all’assemblea solenne. 14 L’anima mia odia i vostri noviluni e le vostre feste stabilite; mi sono un peso che sono stanco di portare. 15 Quando stendete le mani, distolgo gli occhi da voi; anche quando moltiplicate le preghiere, io non ascolto; le vostre mani sono piene di sangue. 16 Lavatevi, purificatevi, togliete davanti ai miei occhi la malvagità delle vostre azioni; smettete di fare il male; 17 imparate a fare il bene; cercate la giustizia, rialzate l’oppresso, fate giustizia all’orfano, difendete la causa della vedova! 18 «Poi venite, e discutiamo», dice il Signore; «anche se i vostri peccati fossero come scarlatto, diventeranno bianchi come la neve; anche se fossero rossi come porpora, diventeranno come la lana. 19 Se siete disposti a ubbidire, mangerete i frutti migliori del paese; 20 ma se rifiutate e siete ribelli, sarete divorati dalla spada», poiché la bocca del Signore ha parlato. 21 Come mai la città fedele è diventata una prostituta? Era piena di rettitudine, la giustizia vi abitava, e ora è invece un covo di assassini! 22 Il tuo argento si è cambiato in scorie, il tuo vino è stato tagliato con acqua. 23 I tuoi prìncipi sono ribelli e compagni di ladri. Tutti amano i regali e corrono dietro alle ricompense; non fanno giustizia all’orfano e la causa della vedova non giunge fino a loro. 24 Perciò il Signore, Dio degli eserciti, il Potente d’Israele, dice: «Guai! Io avrò soddisfazione dai miei avversari e mi vendicherò dei miei nemici! 25 Ti rimetterò la mano addosso, ti purificherò delle tue scorie, come fa la potassa, e toglierò da te ogni particella di piombo. 26 Ristabilirò i tuoi giudici com’erano anticamente, e i tuoi consiglieri com’erano al principio. Dopo questo, sarai chiamata la città della giustizia, la città fedele». 27 Sion sarà salvata mediante il giudizio, e quelli che in lei si convertiranno saranno salvati mediante la giustizia; 28 ma i ribelli e i peccatori andranno in rovina assieme, e quelli che abbandonano il Signore saranno distrutti. 29 Allora avrete vergogna dei terebinti che avete amati e arrossirete dei giardini che vi siete scelti. 30 Infatti sarete come un terebinto dalle foglie appassite, come un giardino senz’acqua. 31 L’uomo forte sarà come stoppa, e l’opera sua come scintilla; entrambe bruceranno assieme, e non vi sarà chi spenga.

The Wickedness of Judah

The Unfaithful City

21 How the faithful city has become a whore,^[4] she who was full of justice! Righteousness lodged in her, but now murderers. (2Mo 34,15; Jer 2,20; Jer 31,23) 22 Your silver has become dross, your best wine mixed with water. (Jer 6,30; Hes 22,18) 23 Your princes are rebels and companions of thieves.
