Die Aussendung der Zwölf
5Diese Zwölf sandte Jesus aus, gebot ihnen und sprach: Geht nicht den Weg zu den Heiden und zieht nicht in eine Stadt der Samariter, (Mk 6,7; Lk 9,1)6sondern geht hin zu den verlorenen Schafen aus dem Hause Israel. (Mt 15,24)7Geht aber und predigt und sprecht: Das Himmelreich ist nahe herbeigekommen. (Mt 4,17; Lk 10,4)8Macht Kranke gesund, weckt Tote auf, macht Aussätzige rein, treibt Dämonen aus. Umsonst habt ihr’s empfangen, umsonst gebt es auch. (Mk 16,17)9Ihr sollt weder Gold noch Silber noch Kupfer in euren Gürteln haben, (Apg 20,33)10auch keine Tasche für den Weg, auch nicht zwei Hemden, keine Schuhe, auch keinen Stecken. Denn ein Arbeiter ist seiner Speise wert. (4Mo 18,31; 1Kor 9,14; 1Tim 5,18)11Wenn ihr aber in eine Stadt oder ein Dorf geht, da erkundigt euch, ob jemand darin ist, der es wert ist; bei dem bleibt, bis ihr weiterzieht.12Wenn ihr aber in ein Haus geht, so grüßt es;13und wenn es das Haus wert ist, kehre euer Friede dort ein. Ist es aber nicht wert, so wende sich euer Friede wieder zu euch.14Und wenn euch jemand nicht aufnehmen und eure Rede nicht hören wird, so geht heraus aus diesem Hause oder dieser Stadt und schüttelt den Staub von euren Füßen. (Apg 13,51)15Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Dem Land von Sodom und Gomorra wird es erträglicher ergehen am Tage des Gerichts als dieser Stadt. (1Mo 19,1; Mt 11,24)
Die Ansage kommender Verfolgungen
16Siehe, ich sende euch wie Schafe mitten unter die Wölfe. Darum seid klug wie die Schlangen und ohne Falsch wie die Tauben. (Mk 13,9; Lk 10,3; Lk 21,12; Röm 16,19; Eph 5,15)17Hütet euch aber vor den Menschen; denn sie werden euch den Gerichten überantworten und werden euch geißeln in ihren Synagogen. (Mt 23,34; Apg 5,40; 2Kor 11,24)18Und man wird euch vor Statthalter und Könige führen um meinetwillen, ihnen und den Heiden zum Zeugnis. (Apg 25,23; Apg 27,24)19Wenn sie euch nun überantworten werden, so sorgt nicht, wie oder was ihr reden sollt; denn es wird euch zu der Stunde gegeben werden, was ihr reden sollt. (2Mo 4,12; Lk 12,11)20Denn nicht ihr seid es, die da reden, sondern eures Vaters Geist ist es, der durch euch redet. (Apg 4,8; 1Kor 2,4)21Es wird aber ein Bruder den andern zum Tod überantworten und der Vater das Kind, und die Kinder werden sich empören gegen ihre Eltern und werden sie zu Tode bringen. (Mi 7,6)22Und ihr werdet gehasst werden von jedermann um meines Namens willen. Wer aber bis an das Ende beharrt, der wird selig. (Mt 24,9; Joh 15,18; 2Tim 2,12)23Wenn sie euch aber in einer Stadt verfolgen, so flieht in eine andere. Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Ihr werdet mit den Städten Israels nicht zu Ende kommen, bis der Menschensohn kommt. (Mt 16,28; Apg 8,1)24Der Jünger steht nicht über dem Meister und der Knecht nicht über seinem Herrn. (Lk 6,40; Joh 13,16; Joh 15,20)25Es ist für den Jünger genug, dass er werde wie sein Meister und der Knecht wie sein Herr. Haben sie den Hausherrn Beelzebul genannt, wie viel mehr werden sie seine Hausgenossen so nennen! (Mt 12,24)
Menschenfurcht und Gottesfurcht
26Darum fürchtet euch nicht vor ihnen. Denn es ist nichts verborgen, was nicht offenbar wird, und nichts geheim, was man nicht wissen wird. (Mk 4,22; Lk 8,17; Lk 12,2)27Was ich euch sage in der Finsternis, das redet im Licht; und was euch gesagt wird in das Ohr, das verkündigt auf den Dächern.28Und fürchtet euch nicht vor denen, die den Leib töten, doch die Seele nicht töten können; fürchtet viel mehr den, der Leib und Seele verderben kann in der Hölle. (Hebr 10,31; Jak 4,12)29Verkauft man nicht zwei Sperlinge für einen Groschen? Dennoch fällt keiner von ihnen auf die Erde ohne euren Vater.30Bei euch aber sind sogar die Haare auf dem Haupt alle gezählt. (Lk 21,18; Apg 27,34)31Darum fürchtet euch nicht; ihr seid kostbarer als viele Sperlinge. (Mt 6,26)32Wer nun mich bekennt vor den Menschen, zu dem will ich mich auch bekennen vor meinem Vater im Himmel. (Offb 3,5)33Wer mich aber verleugnet vor den Menschen, den will ich auch verleugnen vor meinem Vater im Himmel. (Mk 8,38; Lk 9,26; 2Tim 2,12)
Entzweiungen um Jesu willen
34Ihr sollt nicht meinen, dass ich gekommen bin, Frieden zu bringen auf die Erde. Ich bin nicht gekommen, Frieden zu bringen, sondern das Schwert. (Mi 7,6; Lk 12,51)35Denn ich bin gekommen, den Menschen zu entzweien mit seinem Vater und die Tochter mit ihrer Mutter und die Schwiegertochter mit ihrer Schwiegermutter.36Und des Menschen Feinde werden seine eigenen Hausgenossen sein.37Wer Vater oder Mutter mehr liebt als mich, der ist meiner nicht wert; und wer Sohn oder Tochter mehr liebt als mich, der ist meiner nicht wert. (5Mo 13,7; 5Mo 33,9; Lk 14,26)38Und wer nicht sein Kreuz auf sich nimmt und folgt mir nach, der ist meiner nicht wert. (Mt 16,24)39Wer sein Leben findet, der wird’s verlieren; und wer sein Leben verliert um meinetwillen, der wird’s finden. (Joh 12,25)
Aufnahme um Jesu willen
40Wer euch aufnimmt, der nimmt mich auf; und wer mich aufnimmt, der nimmt den auf, der mich gesandt hat. (Mk 9,37; Joh 13,20; Gal 4,14)41Wer einen Propheten aufnimmt, weil es ein Prophet ist, der wird den Lohn eines Propheten empfangen; und wer einen Gerechten aufnimmt, weil es ein Gerechter ist, der wird den Lohn eines Gerechten empfangen. (1Kön 17,8)42Und wer einem dieser Kleinen auch nur einen Becher kalten Wassers zu trinken gibt, weil es ein Jünger ist, wahrlich, ich sage euch: Er wird nicht um seinen Lohn kommen. (Mt 25,40; Mk 9,41)
1Jesus called for his 12 disciples to come to him. He gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every illness and disease.2Here are the names of the 12 apostles. First there were Simon Peter and his brother Andrew. Then came James, son of Zebedee, and his brother John.3Next were Philip and Bartholomew, and also Thomas and Matthew the tax collector. Two more were James, son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus.4The last were Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot. Judas was the one who was later going to hand Jesus over to his enemies.5Jesus sent these 12 out with the following orders. ‘Do not go among the Gentiles,’ he said. ‘Do not enter any town of the Samaritans.6Instead, go to the people of Israel. They are like sheep that have become lost.7As you go, preach this message, “The kingdom of heaven has come near.”8Heal those who are ill. Bring those who are dead back to life. Make those who have skin diseases “clean” again. Drive out demons. You have received freely, so give freely.9‘Do not get any gold, silver or copper to take with you in your belts.10Do not take a bag for the journey. Do not take extra clothes or sandals or walking sticks. A worker should be given what he needs.11When you enter a town or village, look for someone who is willing to welcome you. Stay at their house until you leave.12As you enter the home, greet those who live there.13If that home welcomes you, give it your blessing of peace. If it does not, don’t bless it.14Some people may not welcome you or listen to your words. If they don’t, leave that home or town, and shake the dust off your feet.15What I’m about to tell you is true. On judgment day it will be easier for Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town.16‘I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. So be as wise as snakes and as harmless as doves.17Watch out! You will be handed over to the local courts. You will be whipped in the synagogues.18You will be brought to governors and kings because of me. You will be witnesses to them and to the Gentiles.19But when they arrest you, don’t worry about what you will say or how you will say it. At that time you will be given the right words to say.20It will not be you speaking. The Spirit of your Father will be speaking through you.21‘Brothers will hand over brothers to be killed. Fathers will hand over their children. Children will rise up against their parents and have them put to death.22You will be hated by everyone because of me. But anyone who remains strong in the faith will be saved.23When people attack you in one place, escape to another. What I’m about to tell you is true. You will not finish going through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.24‘The student is not better than the teacher. A slave is not better than his master.25It is enough for students to be like their teachers. And it is enough for slaves to be like their masters. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebul, what can the others who live there expect?26‘So don’t be afraid of your enemies. Everything that is secret will be brought out into the open. Everything that is hidden will be uncovered.27What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight. What is whispered in your ear, shout from the rooftops.28Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but can’t kill the soul. Instead, be afraid of the one who can destroy both soul and body in hell.29Aren’t two sparrows sold for only a penny? But not one of them falls to the ground outside your Father’s care.30He even counts every hair on your head!31So don’t be afraid. You are worth more than many sparrows.32‘What if someone says in front of others that they know me? I will also say in front of my Father who is in heaven that I know them.33But what if someone says in front of others that they don’t know me? I will say in front of my Father who is in heaven that I don’t know them.34‘Do not think that I came to bring peace to the earth. I didn’t come to bring peace. I came to bring a sword.35I have come to turn ‘ “sons against their fathers. Daughters will refuse to obey their mothers. Daughters-in-law will be against their mothers-in-law.36A man’s enemies will be the members of his own family.” (Mi 7,6)37‘Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me. Anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.38Whoever does not pick up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me.39Whoever finds their life will lose it. Whoever loses their life because of me will find it.40‘Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me. And anyone who welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me.41Suppose someone welcomes a prophet as a prophet. They will receive a prophet’s reward. And suppose someone welcomes a godly person as a godly person. They will receive a godly person’s reward.42Suppose someone gives even a cup of cold water to a little one who follows me. What I’m about to tell you is true. That person will certainly be rewarded.’
