1Und es versammelten sich bei ihm die Pharisäer und einige von den Schriftgelehrten, die aus Jerusalem gekommen waren. (Mt 15,1)2Und sie sahen, dass einige seiner Jünger mit unreinen, das heißt ungewaschenen Händen das Brot aßen.3Denn die Pharisäer und alle Juden essen nicht, wenn sie nicht die Hände mit einer Handvoll Wasser gewaschen haben, und halten so an der Überlieferung der Ältesten fest;4und wenn sie vom Markt kommen, essen sie nicht, bevor sie sich gewaschen haben. Und es gibt viele andre Dinge, die sie zu halten angenommen haben, wie: Becher und Krüge und Kessel und Bänke zu waschen. (Mt 23,25)5Da fragten ihn die Pharisäer und die Schriftgelehrten: Warum wandeln deine Jünger nicht nach der Überlieferung der Ältesten, sondern essen das Brot mit unreinen Händen?6Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Richtig hat von euch Heuchlern Jesaja geweissagt, wie geschrieben steht: »Dies Volk ehrt mich mit den Lippen, aber ihr Herz ist fern von mir.7Vergeblich dienen sie mir, weil sie lehren solche Lehren, die nichts sind als Menschengebote.«8Ihr verlasst Gottes Gebot und haltet an der Überlieferung der Menschen fest.9Und er sprach zu ihnen: Trefflich hebt ihr Gottes Gebot auf, damit ihr eure Überlieferung aufrichtet!10Denn Mose hat gesagt: »Du sollst deinen Vater und deine Mutter ehren«, und: »Wer Vater oder Mutter schmäht, der soll des Todes sterben.« (2Mo 20,12; 2Mo 21,17)11Ihr aber lehrt: Wenn einer zu Vater oder Mutter sagt: Korban[1], das heißt: Opfergabe, soll sein, was dir von mir zusteht, (3Mo 1,1)12so lasst ihr ihn nichts mehr tun für seinen Vater oder seine Mutter13und hebt so Gottes Wort auf durch eure Überlieferung, die ihr weitergegeben habt; und dergleichen tut ihr viel.14Und er rief das Volk wieder zu sich und sprach zu ihnen: Hört mir alle zu und begreift’s!15-16Es gibt nichts, was von außen in den Menschen hineingeht, das ihn unrein machen könnte; sondern was aus dem Menschen herauskommt, das ist’s, was den Menschen unrein macht.[2] (Mk 4,9; Mk 4,23; Röm 14,14)17Und als er von dem Volk ins Haus ging, fragten ihn seine Jünger nach diesem Gleichnis. (Mk 4,10)18Und er sprach zu ihnen: Seid denn auch ihr so unverständig? Versteht ihr nicht, dass alles, was von außen in den Menschen hineingeht, ihn nicht unrein machen kann?19Denn es geht nicht in sein Herz, sondern in den Bauch und kommt heraus in die Grube. Damit erklärte er alle Speisen für rein.20Und er sprach: Was aus dem Menschen herauskommt, das macht den Menschen unrein.21Denn von innen, aus dem Herzen der Menschen, kommen heraus die bösen Gedanken, Unzucht, Diebstahl, Mord, (Lk 11,39; Röm 1,28)22Ehebruch, Habgier, Bosheit, Arglist, Ausschweifung, Missgunst, Lästerung, Hochmut, Unvernunft.23All dies Böse kommt von innen heraus und macht den Menschen unrein.
Die syrophönizische Frau
24Und er stand auf und ging von dort in das Gebiet von Tyrus. Und er ging in ein Haus und wollte es niemanden wissen lassen und konnte doch nicht verborgen bleiben; (Mt 15,21; Mk 9,30)25sondern alsbald hörte eine Frau von ihm, deren Töchterlein einen unreinen Geist hatte. Und sie kam und fiel nieder zu seinen Füßen –26die Frau war aber eine Griechin aus Syrophönizien – und bat ihn, dass er den Dämon aus ihrer Tochter austreibe.27Jesus aber sprach zu ihr: Lass zuvor die Kinder satt werden; denn es ist nicht recht, dass man den Kindern das Brot nehme und werfe es vor die Hunde. (Mk 6,41; Mk 8,6)28Sie antwortete aber und sprach zu ihm: Herr, aber doch essen die Hunde unter dem Tisch von den Brosamen der Kinder.29Und er sprach zu ihr: Um dieses Wortes willen geh hin, der Dämon ist aus deiner Tochter ausgefahren. (Mt 8,13; Joh 4,50)30Und sie ging hin in ihr Haus und fand das Kind auf dem Bett liegen, und der Dämon war ausgefahren.
Die Heilung eines Tauben
31Und als er wieder fortging aus dem Gebiet von Tyrus, kam er durch Sidon an das Galiläische Meer, mitten in das Gebiet der Zehn Städte. (Mt 15,29; Mk 5,20)32Und sie brachten zu ihm einen, der taub war und stammelte, und baten ihn, dass er ihm die Hand auflege.33Und er nahm ihn aus der Menge beiseite und legte ihm die Finger in die Ohren und spuckte aus und berührte seine Zunge (Mk 8,23)34und sah auf zum Himmel und seufzte und sprach zu ihm: Hefata!, das heißt: Tu dich auf!35Und sogleich taten sich seine Ohren auf, und die Fessel seiner Zunge wurde gelöst, und er redete richtig.36Und er gebot ihnen, sie sollten’s niemandem sagen. Je mehr er’s ihnen aber verbot, desto mehr breiteten sie es aus. (Mk 1,43)37Und sie wunderten sich über die Maßen und sprachen: Er hat alles wohl gemacht; die Tauben macht er hören und die Sprachlosen reden. (1Mo 1,31; Jes 35,5)
1The Pharisees gathered around Jesus. So did some of the teachers of the law. All of them had come from Jerusalem.2They saw some of his disciples eating food with ‘unclean’ hands. That means they were not washed.3The Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they wash their hands to make them ‘clean’. That’s what the elders teach.4When they come from the market, they do not eat unless they wash. And they follow many other teachings. For example, they wash cups, pitchers, and kettles in a special way.5So the Pharisees and the teachers of the law questioned Jesus. ‘Why don’t your disciples live by what the elders teach?’ they asked. ‘Why do they eat their food with “unclean” hands?’6He replied, ‘Isaiah was right. He prophesied about you people who pretend to be good. He said, ‘ “These people honour me by what they say. But their hearts are far away from me.7Their worship doesn’t mean anything to me. They teach nothing but human rules.” (Jes 29,13)8You have let go of God’s commands. And you are holding on to teachings that people have made up.’9Jesus continued speaking, ‘You have a fine way of setting aside God’s commands! You do this so you can follow your own teachings.10Moses said, “Honour your father and mother.” He also said, “Anyone who asks for bad things to happen to their father or mother must be put to death.” (2Mo 20,12; 2Mo 21,17; 3Mo 20,9; 5Mo 5,16)11But you allow people to say that what might have been used to help their parents is Corban. Corban means A Gift Set Apart for God.12So you no longer let them do anything for their parents.13You make the word of God useless by putting your own teachings in its place. And you do many things like this.’14Again Jesus called the crowd to him. He said, ‘Listen to me, everyone. Understand this.15-16Nothing outside of a person can make them “unclean” by going into them. It is what comes out of them that makes them “unclean”. ’17Then he left the crowd and entered the house. His disciples asked him about this teaching.18‘Don’t you understand?’ Jesus asked. ‘Don’t you see? Nothing that enters a person from the outside can make them “unclean”.19It doesn’t go into their heart. It goes into their stomach. Then it goes out of the body.’ In saying this, Jesus was calling all foods ‘clean’.20He went on to say, ‘What comes out of a person is what makes them “unclean”.21Evil thoughts come from the inside, from a person’s heart. So do sexual sins, stealing and murder.22Adultery, greed, hate and cheating come from a person’s heart too. So do desires that are not pure, and wanting what belongs to others. And so do telling lies about others and being proud and being foolish.23All these evil things come from inside a person and make them “unclean”. ’
Jesus honours a Greek woman’s faith
24Jesus went from there to a place near Tyre. He entered a house. He did not want anyone to know where he was. But he could not keep it a secret.25Soon a woman heard about him. An evil spirit controlled her little daughter. The woman came to Jesus and fell at his feet.26She was a Greek, born in Syrian Phoenicia. She begged Jesus to drive the demon out of her daughter.27‘First let the children eat all they want,’ he told her. ‘It is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.’28‘Lord’, she replied, ‘even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.’29Then he told her, ‘That was a good reply. You may go. The demon has left your daughter.’30So she went home and found her child lying on the bed. And the demon was gone.
Jesus heals a man who could not hear or speak
31Then Jesus left the area of Tyre and went through Sidon. He went down to the Sea of Galilee and into the area known as the Ten Cities.32There some people brought a man to Jesus. The man was deaf and could hardly speak. They begged Jesus to place his hand on the man.33Jesus took the man to one side, away from the crowd. He put his fingers into the man’s ears. Then he spat and touched the man’s tongue.34Jesus looked up to heaven. With a deep sigh, he said to the man, ‘Ephphatha!’ That means ‘Be opened!’35The man’s ears were opened. His tongue was freed up, and he began to speak clearly.36Jesus ordered the people not to tell anyone. But the more he did so, the more they kept talking about it.37People were really amazed. ‘He has done everything well,’ they said. ‘He even makes deaf people able to hear. And he makes those who can’t speak able to talk.’
