Mahnung zur Brüderlichkeit

1 Brüder und Schwestern, wenn ein Mensch etwa von einer Verfehlung ereilt wird, so helft ihm wieder zurecht mit sanftmütigem Geist, ihr, die ihr geistlich seid. Und sieh auf dich selbst, dass du nicht auch versucht werdest. (Mt 18,15; Jak 5,19) 2 Einer trage des andern Last, so werdet ihr das Gesetz Christi erfüllen. 3 Denn wenn jemand meint, er sei etwas, obwohl er doch nichts ist, der betrügt sich selbst. 4 Ein jeder aber prüfe sein eigenes Werk; und dann wird er seinen Ruhm bei sich selbst haben und nicht gegenüber einem andern. (2Kor 13,5) 5 Denn ein jeder wird seine eigene Last tragen. (Röm 14,12) 6 Wer aber unterrichtet wird im Wort, der gebe dem, der ihn unterrichtet, Anteil an allen Gütern. (1Kor 9,14) 7 Irret euch nicht! Gott lässt sich nicht spotten. Denn was der Mensch sät, das wird er ernten. (Jer 21,14) 8 Wer auf sein Fleisch sät, der wird von dem Fleisch das Verderben ernten; wer aber auf den Geist sät, der wird von dem Geist das ewige Leben ernten. (Röm 8,13) 9 Lasst uns aber Gutes tun und nicht müde werden; denn zu seiner Zeit werden wir auch ernten, wenn wir nicht nachlassen. (2Thess 3,13) 10 Darum, solange wir noch Zeit haben, lasst uns Gutes tun an jedermann, allermeist aber an des Glaubens Genossen.

Eigenhändiger Briefschluss

11 Seht, mit wie großen Buchstaben ich euch schreibe mit eigener Hand! (1Kor 16,21) 12 Die Ansehen haben wollen nach dem Fleisch, die zwingen euch zur Beschneidung, nur damit sie nicht um des Kreuzes Christi willen verfolgt werden. (Gal 5,11) 13 Denn nicht einmal sie selbst, die sich beschneiden lassen, halten das Gesetz, sondern sie wollen, dass ihr euch beschneiden lasst, damit sie sich eures Fleisches rühmen können. 14 Es sei aber fern von mir, mich zu rühmen als allein des Kreuzes unseres Herrn Jesus Christus, durch den mir die Welt gekreuzigt ist und ich der Welt. (1Kor 1,31; 1Kor 2,2) 15 Denn es gilt^[1] weder Beschneidung noch Unbeschnittensein, sondern die neue Schöpfung. (1Kor 7,19; 2Kor 5,17; Gal 5,6) 16 Und alle, die sich nach diesem Maßstab richten – Friede und Barmherzigkeit über sie und über das Israel Gottes! (Ps 125,5) 17 Hinfort mache mir niemand weiter Mühe; denn ich trage die Malzeichen Jesu an meinem Leibe. (2Kor 4,10) 18 Die Gnade unseres Herrn Jesus Christus sei mit eurem Geist, Brüder und Schwestern! Amen.

Do good to everyone

1 Brothers and sisters, what if someone is caught in a sin? Then you who live by the Spirit should correct that person. Do it in a gentle way. But be careful. You could be tempted too. 2 Carry one another’s heavy loads. If you do, you will fulfil the law of Christ. 3 If anyone thinks they are somebody when they are nobody, they are fooling themselves. 4 Each person should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves. They won’t be comparing themselves to someone else. 5 Each person should carry their own load. 6 But those who are taught the word should share all good things with their teacher. 7 Don’t be fooled. You can’t outwit God. A man gathers a crop from what he plants. 8 Some people plant to please their desires controlled by sin. From these desires they will harvest death. Others plant to please the Holy Spirit. From the Spirit they will harvest eternal life. 9 Let us not become tired of doing good. At the right time we will gather a crop if we don’t give up. 10 So when we can do good to everyone, let us do it. Let’s try even harder to do good to the family of believers.

Not circumcision but the new creation

11 Look at the big letters I’m using as I write to you with my own hand! 12 Some people are worried about how things look on the outside. They are trying to force you to be circumcised. They do it for only one reason. They don’t want to suffer by being connected with the cross of Christ. 13 Even those who are circumcised don’t obey the law. But they want you to be circumcised. Then they can boast about what has been done to your body. 14 I never want to boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Through that cross the ways of the world have been crucified as far as I am concerned. And I have been crucified as far as the ways of the world are concerned. 15 Circumcision and uncircumcision don’t mean anything. What really counts is that the new creation has come. 16 May peace and mercy be given to all who follow this rule. May peace and mercy be given to the Israel that belongs to God. 17 From now on, let no one cause trouble for me. My body has marks that show I belong to Jesus. 18 Brothers and sisters, may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
