1 So ahmt nun Gott nach als geliebte Kinder (Lk 6,35) 2 und wandelt in der Liebe, wie auch Christus uns geliebt hat und hat sich selbst für uns gegeben als Gabe und Opfer, Gott zu einem lieblichen Geruch. (Gal 2,20) 3 Von Unzucht aber und jeder Art Unreinheit oder Habsucht soll bei euch nicht einmal die Rede sein, wie es sich für die Heiligen gehört, (Kol 3,5) 4 auch nicht von schändlichem Tun und von närrischem oder losem Reden, was sich nicht ziemt, sondern vielmehr von Danksagung. (Eph 4,29) 5 Denn das sollt ihr wissen, dass kein Unzüchtiger oder Unreiner oder Habsüchtiger – das ist ein Götzendiener – ein Erbteil hat im Reich Christi und Gottes. (1Kor 6,9; Gal 5,21) 6 Lasst euch von niemandem verführen mit leeren Worten; denn um dieser Dinge willen kommt der Zorn Gottes über die Kinder des Ungehorsams. (Kol 3,6) 7 Darum seid nicht ihre Mitgenossen.

Das Leben im Licht

8 Denn ihr wart früher Finsternis; nun aber seid ihr Licht in dem Herrn. Wandelt als Kinder des Lichts; (Mt 5,14; Joh 12,36; 1Thess 5,5; 1Petr 2,9)

9 die Frucht des Lichts ist lauter Güte und Gerechtigkeit und Wahrheit. (Gal 5,22; Phil 1,11) 10 Prüft, was dem Herrn wohlgefällig ist, (Röm 12,2; Phil 1,10) 11 und habt nicht Gemeinschaft mit den unfruchtbaren Werken der Finsternis; deckt sie vielmehr auf. 12 Denn was von ihnen heimlich getan wird, davon auch nur zu reden ist schändlich. 13 Das alles aber wird offenbar, wenn’s vom Licht aufgedeckt wird; (Joh 3,20) 14 denn alles, was offenbar wird, das ist Licht. Darum heißt es: Wach auf, der du schläfst, und steh auf von den Toten, so wird dich Christus erleuchten. (Jes 60,1; Jes 60,3; Joh 8,12; Röm 13,11)

15 So seht nun sorgfältig darauf, wie ihr euer Leben führt, nicht als Unweise, sondern als Weise, (Kol 4,5) 16 und kauft die Zeit aus, denn die Tage sind böse. 17 Darum werdet nicht unverständig, sondern versteht, was der Wille des Herrn ist. 18 Und sauft euch nicht voll Wein, woraus ein unordentliches Wesen folgt, sondern lasst euch vom Geist erfüllen. (Lk 21,34) 19 Ermuntert einander mit Psalmen und Lobgesängen und geistlichen Liedern, singt und spielt dem Herrn in eurem Herzen (Ps 33,2; Kol 3,16) 20 und sagt Dank Gott, dem Vater, allezeit für alles, im Namen unseres Herrn Jesus Christus. Die Ordnung des Hauses (Die christliche Haustafel)

21 Ordnet euch einander unter in der Furcht Christi. (Phil 2,3; Kol 3,18; 1Petr 2,18) 22 Ihr Frauen, ordnet euch euren Männern unter wie dem Herrn. (Tit 2,5) 23 Denn der Mann ist das Haupt der Frau, wie auch Christus das Haupt der Gemeinde ist – er hat sie als seinen Leib gerettet. (1Kor 11,3; Eph 1,22) 24 Aber wie nun die Gemeinde sich Christus unterordnet, so sollen sich auch die Frauen ihren Männern unterordnen in allen Dingen. 25 Ihr Männer, liebt eure Frauen, wie auch Christus die Gemeinde geliebt hat und hat sich selbst für sie dahingegeben, (Eph 2,1) 26 um sie zu heiligen. Er hat sie gereinigt durch das Wasserbad im Wort, (Tit 3,5; Hebr 10,22) 27 damit er für sich die Gemeinde herrlich bereite, die keinen Flecken oder Runzel oder etwas dergleichen habe, sondern die heilig und untadelig sei. (2Kor 11,2; Kol 1,22) 28 So sollen auch die Männer ihre Frauen lieben wie ihren eigenen Leib. Wer seine Frau liebt, der liebt sich selbst. (3Mo 19,18) 29 Denn niemand hat je sein eigenes Fleisch gehasst; sondern er nährt und pflegt es wie auch Christus die Gemeinde. 30 Denn wir sind Glieder seines Leibes. (Röm 12,5) 31 »Darum wird ein Mann Vater und Mutter verlassen und an seiner Frau hängen, und die zwei werden ein Fleisch sein« (1Mo 2,24) 32 Dies Geheimnis ist groß; ich deute es aber auf Christus und die Gemeinde. 33 Darum auch ihr: ein jeder liebe seine Frau wie sich selbst; die Frau aber habe Ehrfurcht vor dem Mann.

1 You are the children that God dearly loves. So follow his example. 2 Lead a life of love, just as Christ did. He loved us. He gave himself up for us. He was a sweet-smelling offering and sacrifice to God. 3 There should not be even a hint of sexual sin among you. Don’t do anything impure. And do not always want more and more. These are not the things God’s holy people should do. 4 There must not be any bad language or foolish talk or dirty jokes. They are out of place. Instead, you should give thanks. 5 Here is what you can be sure of. Those who give themselves over to sexual sins are lost. So are people whose lives are impure. The same is true of those who always want more and more. People who do these things might as well worship statues of gods. No one who does them will receive a share in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6 Don’t let anyone fool you with worthless words. People who say things like that aren’t obeying God. He is angry with them. 7 So don’t go along with people like that. 8 At one time you were in the dark. But now you are in the light because of what the Lord has done. Live like children of the light. 9 The light produces what is completely good, right and true. 10 Find out what pleases the Lord. 11 Have nothing to do with the acts of darkness. They don’t produce anything good. Show what they are really like. 12 It is shameful even to talk about what people who don’t obey do in secret. 13 But everything the light shines on can be seen. And everything that the light shines on becomes a light. 14 That is why it is said, ‘Wake up, sleeper. Rise from the dead. Then Christ will shine on you.’ 15 So be very careful how you live. Do not live like people who aren’t wise. Live like people who are wise. 16 Make the most of every opportunity. The days are evil. 17 So don’t be foolish. Instead, understand what the Lord wants. 18 Don’t fill yourself up with wine. Getting drunk will lead to wild living. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit. 19 Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord. 20 Always give thanks to God the Father for everything. Give thanks to him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

21 Follow the lead of one another because of your respect for Christ. 22 Wives, follow the lead of your own husbands as you follow the Lord. 23 The husband is the head of the wife, just as Christ is the head of the church. The church is Christ’s body. He is its Saviour. 24 The church follows the lead of Christ. In the same way, wives should follow the lead of their husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives. Love them just as Christ loved the church. He gave himself up for her. 26 He did it to make her holy. He made her clean by washing her with water and the word. 27 He did it to bring her to himself as a brightly shining church. He wants a church that has no stain or wrinkle or any other flaw. He wants a church that is holy and without blame. 28 In the same way, husbands should love their wives. They should love them as they love their own bodies. Any man who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated their own body. Instead, they feed and care for their body. And this is what Christ does for the church. 30 We are parts of his body. 31 Scripture says, ‘That’s why a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife. The two will become one.’ (1Mo 2,24) 32 That is a deep mystery. But I’m talking about Christ and the church. 33 A husband also must love his wife. He must love her just as he loves himself. And a wife must respect her husband.
