Neue Gesetzestafeln. Bundesschluss und Bundespflichten
1Und der HERR sprach zu Mose: Haue dir zwei steinerne Tafeln zu, wie die ersten waren, dass ich die Worte darauf schreibe, die auf den ersten Tafeln standen, welche du zerbrochen hast. (2Mo 32,19)2Und sei morgen bereit, dass du früh auf den Berg Sinai steigst und dort zu mir trittst auf dem Gipfel des Berges.3Und lass niemand mit dir hinaufsteigen; es soll auch niemand gesehen werden auf dem ganzen Berge. Auch kein Schaf und Rind lass weiden gegen diesen Berg hin. (2Mo 19,12)4Und Mose hieb zwei steinerne Tafeln zu, wie die ersten waren, und stand am Morgen früh auf und stieg auf den Berg Sinai, wie ihm der HERR geboten hatte, und nahm die zwei steinernen Tafeln in seine Hand.5Da kam der HERR hernieder in einer Wolke und trat daselbst zu ihm. Und er rief aus den Namen des HERRN. (2Mo 3,19)6Und der HERR ging vor seinem Angesicht vorüber, und er rief aus: HERR, HERR, Gott, barmherzig und gnädig und geduldig und von großer Gnade und Treue, (2Mo 33,18; 4Mo 14,18; Ps 103,8; Nah 1,3; 1Joh 4,16)7der da Tausenden Gnade bewahrt und vergibt Missetat, Übertretung und Sünde, aber ungestraft lässt er niemand, sondern sucht die Missetat der Väter heim an Kindern und Kindeskindern bis ins dritte und vierte Glied. (2Mo 20,5; Nah 1,2)8Und Mose neigte sich eilends zur Erde und betete an9und sprach: Hab ich, HERR, Gnade vor deinen Augen gefunden, so gehe der Herr in unserer Mitte, denn es ist ein halsstarriges Volk; und vergib uns unsere Missetat und Sünde und lass uns dein Erbbesitz sein. (2Mo 33,3; 5Mo 32,9; Ps 28,9; Mt 6,12)10Und der HERR sprach: Siehe, ich will einen Bund schließen: Vor deinem ganzen Volk will ich Wunder tun, wie sie nicht geschaffen sind in allen Landen und unter allen Völkern, und das ganze Volk, in dessen Mitte du bist, soll des HERRN Werk sehen; denn wunderbar wird sein, was ich an dir tun werde. (2Mo 19,5)11Halte, was ich dir heute gebiete. Siehe, ich will vor dir her ausstoßen die Amoriter, Kanaaniter, Hetiter, Perisiter, Hiwiter und Jebusiter.12Hüte dich, einen Bund zu schließen mit den Bewohnern des Landes, in das du kommst, damit sie dir nicht zum Fallstrick werden in deiner Mitte; (2Mo 23,32)13sondern ihre Altäre sollst du umstürzen und ihre Steinmale zerbrechen und ihre heiligen Pfähle umhauen; (2Mo 23,24)14denn du sollst keinen andern Gott anbeten. Denn der HERR heißt ein Eiferer; ein eifernder Gott ist er. (2Mo 20,3; 2Mo 20,5)15Hüte dich, einen Bund zu schließen mit den Bewohnern des Landes, damit sie, wenn sie ihren Göttern nachlaufen und ihnen opfern, dich nicht einladen und du von ihrem Opfer isst16und damit du für deine Söhne ihre Töchter nicht zu Frauen nimmst und diese dann ihren Göttern nachlaufen und machen, dass deine Söhne auch ihren Göttern nachhuren! (5Mo 7,3; Ri 3,6; 1Kön 11,2)17Du sollst dir keine gegossenen Götterbilder machen. (2Mo 20,4)18Das Fest der Ungesäuerten Brote sollst du halten. Sieben Tage sollst du ungesäuertes Brot essen, wie ich dir geboten habe, zur Zeit des Monats Abib; denn im Monat Abib bist du aus Ägypten gezogen. (2Mo 23,14; 5Mo 16,1)19Alle Erstgeburt ist mein, alle männliche Erstgeburt von deinem Vieh, es sei Stier oder Schaf. (1Mo 4,4)20Aber den Erstling des Esels sollst du mit einem Schaf auslösen. Wenn du ihn aber nicht auslöst, so brich ihm das Genick. Alle Erstgeburt unter deinen Söhnen sollst du auslösen. Und dass niemand vor mir mit leeren Händen erscheine! (2Mo 13,12)21Sechs Tage sollst du arbeiten; am siebenten Tage sollst du ruhen, auch in der Zeit des Pflügens und des Erntens.22Das Wochenfest[1] sollst du halten mit den Erstlingen der Weizenernte und das Fest der Lese, wenn das Jahr um ist. (2Mo 23,16; 3Mo 23,15; 5Mo 16,9)23Dreimal im Jahr soll alles, was männlich ist, erscheinen vor dem Herrscher, dem HERRN, dem Gott Israels.24Denn ich werde die Völker vor dir ausstoßen und dein Gebiet weit machen, und niemand soll dein Land begehren, während du dreimal im Jahr hinaufgehst, um vor dem HERRN, deinem Gott, zu erscheinen.25Du sollst das Blut meines Opfers nicht darbringen zugleich mit dem Sauerteig, und das Opfer des Passafestes soll nicht über Nacht bleiben bis zum Morgen.26Das Beste von den ersten Früchten deines Ackers sollst du in das Haus des HERRN, deines Gottes, bringen. Du sollst das Böcklein nicht kochen in seiner Mutter Milch. (2Mo 23,19)27Und der HERR sprach zu Mose: Schreib dir diese Worte auf; denn aufgrund dieser Worte schließe ich mit dir einen Bund und mit Israel. (2Mo 24,4)28Und er war allda bei dem HERRN vierzig Tage und vierzig Nächte und aß kein Brot und trank kein Wasser. Und er schrieb auf die Tafeln die Worte des Bundes, die Zehn Worte. (2Mo 24,18; 2Mo 31,18; Mt 4,2)
Der Glanz auf Moses Angesicht
29Als nun Mose vom Berge Sinai herabstieg, hatte er die zwei Tafeln des Gesetzes in seiner Hand und wusste nicht, dass die Haut seines Angesichts glänzte, weil er mit Gott geredet hatte.30Als aber Aaron und alle Israeliten sahen, dass die Haut seines Angesichts glänzte, fürchteten sie sich, ihm zu nahen. (2Kor 3,7)31Da rief sie Mose, und sie wandten sich wieder zu ihm, Aaron und alle Obersten der Gemeinde, und er redete mit ihnen.32Danach nahten sich ihm auch alle Israeliten. Und er gebot ihnen alles, was der HERR mit ihm geredet hatte auf dem Berge Sinai.33Und als er dies alles mit ihnen geredet hatte, legte er eine Decke auf sein Angesicht.34Und wenn er hineinging vor den HERRN, mit ihm zu reden, tat er die Decke ab, bis er wieder herausging. Und wenn er herauskam und zu den Israeliten redete, was ihm geboten war, (2Mo 33,8)35sahen die Israeliten, wie die Haut seines Angesichts glänzte. Dann tat er die Decke auf sein Angesicht, bis er wieder hineinging, mit ihm zu reden.
1The LORD said to Moses, ‘Cut out two stone tablets that are just like the first ones. I will write on them the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke.2Be ready in the morning. Then come up on Mount Sinai. Meet with me there on top of the mountain.3No one must come with you. No one must be seen anywhere on the mountain. Not even the flocks and herds must be allowed to eat grass in front of the mountain.’4So Moses carved out two stone tablets just like the first ones. Early in the morning he went up Mount Sinai. He carried the two stone tablets in his hands. He did as the LORD had commanded him to do.5Then the LORD came down in the cloud. He stood there with Moses and announced his name, the LORD.6As he passed in front of Moses, he called out. He said, ‘I am the LORD, the LORD. I am the God who is tender and kind. I am gracious. I am slow to get angry. I am faithful and full of love.7I continue to show my love to thousands of people. I forgive those who do evil. I forgive those who refuse to obey me. And I forgive those who sin. But I do not let guilty people go without punishing them. I cause the sins of the parents to affect their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.’8Moses bowed down to the ground at once and worshipped.9‘Lord’, he said, ‘if you are pleased with me, then go with us. Even though these people are stubborn, forgive the evil things we have done. Forgive our sin. And accept us as your people.’10Then the LORD said, ‘I am making a covenant with you. I will do wonderful things in front of all your people. I will do amazing things that have never been done before in any nation in the whole world. The people you live among will see the things that I, the LORD, will do for you. And they will see how wonderful those things really are.11Obey what I command you today. I will drive out the Amorites, Canaanites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites to make room for you.12Be careful. Do not make a peace treaty with those who live in the land where you are going. They will be a trap to you.13Break down their altars. Smash their sacred stones. Cut down the poles they use to worship the female god named Asherah.14Do not worship any other god. The LORD is a jealous God. In fact, his name is Jealous.15‘Be careful not to make a peace treaty with the people living in the land. They commit sin by offering sacrifices to their gods. They will invite you to eat their sacrifices, and you will do it.16You will choose some of their daughters as wives for your sons. And those daughters will commit sin by worshipping their gods. Then they will lead your sons to do the same thing.17‘Do not make any statues of gods.18‘Celebrate the Feast of Unleavened Bread. For seven days eat bread made without yeast, just as I commanded you. Do it at the appointed time in the month of Aviv. You came out of Egypt in that month.19‘Every male animal born first to its mother belongs to me. That includes your livestock. It includes herds and flocks alike.20Sacrifice a lamb to buy back every male donkey born first to its mother. But if you do not buy the donkey back, break its neck. Buy back all your eldest sons. ‘You must not come to worship me with your hands empty.21‘Do your work in six days. But you must rest on the seventh day. Even when you are ploughing your land or gathering your crops, you must rest on the seventh day.22‘Celebrate the Feast of Weeks. Bring the first share of your wheat crop. Celebrate the Feast of Booths. Hold it in the autumn.23Three times a year all your men must come to worship me. I am your LORD and King, the God of Israel.24I will drive out nations ahead of you. I will increase your territory. Go up three times a year to worship me. While you are doing that, I will keep others from wanting to take any of your land for themselves. I am the LORD your God.25‘Do not include anything made with yeast when you offer me the blood of a sacrifice. You must not keep any of the meat from the sacrifice of the Passover Feast until morning.26‘Bring the best of the first share of your crops to the house of the LORD your God. ‘Do not cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.’27Then the LORD said to Moses, ‘Write down the words I have spoken. I have made a covenant with you and with Israel in keeping with those words.’28Moses was there with the LORD for 40 days and 40 nights. He didn’t eat any food or drink any water. The LORD wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant law. Those words are the Ten Commandments.
The face of Moses shines
29Moses came down from Mount Sinai. He had the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands. His face was shining because he had spoken with the LORD. But he didn’t realise it.30Aaron and all the people of Israel saw Moses. His face was shining. So they were afraid to come near him.31But Moses called out to them. So Aaron and all the leaders of the community came to him. And Moses spoke to them.32After that, all the Israelites came near him. And he gave them all the commands the LORD had given him on Mount Sinai.33Moses finished speaking to them. Then he covered his face with a veil.34But when he would go to speak with the LORD, he would remove the veil. He would keep it off until he came out. Then he would tell the people what the LORD had commanded.35They would see that his face was shining. So Moses would cover his face with the veil again. He would keep it on until he went in again to speak with the LORD.
