Ankündigung der zehnten Plage: Tötung der Erstgeburt
1Und der HERR sprach zu Mose: Eine Plage noch will ich über den Pharao und Ägypten kommen lassen. Dann wird er euch von hier wegziehen lassen, und nicht nur das, sondern er wird euch von hier sogar vertreiben.2So sage nun zu dem Volk, dass ein jeder sich von seinem Nachbarn und eine jede von ihrer Nachbarin silberne und goldene Gefäße geben lasse. (2Mo 3,21)3Und der HERR verschaffte dem Volk Gunst bei den Ägyptern, und der Mann Mose war sehr angesehen in Ägyptenland vor den Großen des Pharao und vor dem Volk. (4Mo 12,3)4Und Mose sprach: So spricht der HERR: Um Mitternacht will ich durch Ägypten gehen,5und alle Erstgeburt in Ägyptenland soll sterben, vom ersten Sohn des Pharao an, der auf seinem Thron sitzt, bis zum ersten Sohn der Magd, die hinter ihrer Mühle hockt, und alle Erstgeburt unter dem Vieh. (2Mo 4,23)6Und es wird ein großes Geschrei sein in ganz Ägyptenland, wie nie zuvor gewesen ist noch werden wird;7aber gegen die Israeliten soll nicht einmal ein Hund mucken, weder gegen Mensch noch Vieh, auf dass ihr erkennt, dass der HERR einen Unterschied macht zwischen Ägypten und Israel. (2Mo 9,4)8Dann werden zu mir herabkommen alle diese deine Großen und mir zu Füßen fallen und sagen: Zieh aus, du und alles Volk, das dir nachgeht. Und daraufhin werde ich ausziehen. Und Mose ging vom Pharao mit grimmigem Zorn.9Der HERR aber sprach zu Mose: Der Pharao wird nicht auf euch hören, auf dass meiner Wunder noch mehr werden in Ägyptenland.10Und Mose und Aaron haben diese Wunder alle getan vor dem Pharao; aber der HERR verstockte ihm das Herz, sodass er die Israeliten nicht ziehen ließ aus seinem Lande. (2Mo 4,21)
1The LORD had spoken to Moses. He had said, ‘I will bring one more plague on Pharaoh and on Egypt. After that, he will let you and your people go. When he does, he will drive every one of you away.2Tell the men and women alike to ask their neighbours for things made out of silver and gold.’3The LORD caused the Egyptians to treat the Israelites in a kind way. Pharaoh’s officials and the people had great respect for Moses.4Moses told Pharaoh, ‘The LORD says, “About midnight I will go through every part of Egypt.5Every eldest son in Egypt will die. The eldest son of Pharaoh, who sits on the throne, will die. The eldest son of every female slave, who works at her hand mill, will die. All the male animals born first to their mothers among the cattle will also die.6There will be loud crying all over Egypt. It will be worse than it’s ever been before. And nothing like it will ever be heard again.7But among the Israelites not even one dog will bark at any person or animal.” Then you will know that the LORD treats Egypt differently from us.8All your officials will come and bow down to me. They will say, “Go, you and all the people who follow you!” After that, I will leave.’ Moses was very angry when he left Pharaoh.9The LORD had spoken to Moses. He had said, ‘Pharaoh will refuse to listen to you. So I will multiply the amazing things I will do in Egypt.’10Moses and Aaron performed all these amazing things in the sight of Pharaoh. But the LORD made Pharaoh stubborn. He wouldn’t let the people of Israel go out of his country.
