1Nach diesen Geschichten versuchte Gott Abraham und sprach zu ihm: Abraham! Und er antwortete: Hier bin ich. (2Mo 15,25; 2Mo 16,4; 2Mo 20,20; 5Mo 8,2; 5Mo 13,4; Ri 2,22; Hebr 11,17; Jak 1,13)2Und er sprach: Nimm Isaak, deinen einzigen Sohn, den du lieb hast, und geh hin in das Land Morija und opfere ihn dort zum Brandopfer auf einem Berge, den ich dir sagen werde.3Da stand Abraham früh am Morgen auf und gürtete seinen Esel und nahm mit sich zwei Knechte und seinen Sohn Isaak und spaltete Holz zum Brandopfer, machte sich auf und ging hin an den Ort, von dem ihm Gott gesagt hatte.4Am dritten Tage hob Abraham seine Augen auf und sah die Stätte von ferne.5Und Abraham sprach zu seinen Knechten: Bleibt ihr hier mit dem Esel. Ich und der Knabe wollen dorthin gehen, und wenn wir angebetet haben, wollen wir wieder zu euch kommen.6Und Abraham nahm das Holz zum Brandopfer und legte es auf seinen Sohn Isaak. Er aber nahm das Feuer und das Messer in seine Hand; und gingen die beiden miteinander.7Da sprach Isaak zu seinem Vater Abraham: Mein Vater! Abraham antwortete: Hier bin ich, mein Sohn. Und er sprach: Siehe, hier ist Feuer und Holz; wo ist aber das Schaf zum Brandopfer?8Abraham antwortete: Mein Sohn, Gott wird sich ersehen ein Schaf zum Brandopfer. Und gingen die beiden miteinander.9Und als sie an die Stätte kamen, die ihm Gott gesagt hatte, baute Abraham dort einen Altar und legte das Holz darauf und band seinen Sohn Isaak, legte ihn auf den Altar oben auf das Holz10und reckte seine Hand aus und fasste das Messer, dass er seinen Sohn schlachtete. (Mt 26,39; Jak 2,21)11Da rief ihn der Engel des HERRN vom Himmel und sprach: Abraham! Abraham! Er antwortete: Hier bin ich.12Er sprach: Lege deine Hand nicht an den Knaben und tu ihm nichts; denn nun weiß ich, dass du Gott fürchtest und hast deines einzigen Sohnes nicht verschont um meinetwillen. (Röm 8,32; Hebr 11,17)13Da hob Abraham seine Augen auf und sah einen Widder hinter sich im Gestrüpp mit seinen Hörnern hängen und ging hin und nahm den Widder und opferte ihn zum Brandopfer an seines Sohnes statt.14Und Abraham nannte die Stätte »Der HERR sieht«. Daher man noch heute sagt: Auf dem Berge, da der HERR sich sehen lässt. (1Mo 16,13)15Und der Engel des HERRN rief Abraham abermals vom Himmel her16und sprach: Ich habe bei mir selbst geschworen, spricht der HERR: Weil du solches getan hast und hast deines einzigen Sohnes nicht verschont, (2Mo 32,13; Jes 45,23; Am 6,8; Mi 7,20; Lk 1,73; Hebr 6,13)17will ich dich segnen und deine Nachkommen mehren wie die Sterne am Himmel und wie den Sand am Ufer des Meeres, und deine Nachkommen sollen die Tore ihrer Feinde besitzen; (1Mo 13,16; Hebr 11,12)18und durch deine Nachkommen sollen alle Völker auf Erden gesegnet werden, weil du meiner Stimme gehorcht hast. (1Mo 12,3; Gal 3,16)19So kehrte Abraham zurück zu seinen Knechten. Und sie machten sich auf und zogen miteinander nach Beerscheba und Abraham blieb daselbst.
Die Nachkommen Nahors
20Nach diesen Geschichten begab sich’s, dass Abraham angesagt wurde: Siehe, Milka hat auch Söhne geboren deinem Bruder Nahor, (1Mo 11,29)21nämlich Uz, den Erstgeborenen, und Bus, seinen Bruder, und Kemuël, von dem die Aramäer herkommen,22und Kesed und Haso und Pildasch und Jidlaf und Betuël.23Betuël aber zeugte Rebekka. Diese acht gebar Milka dem Nahor, Abrahams Bruder. (1Mo 24,15)24Und seine Nebenfrau, mit Namen Rëuma, gebar auch, nämlich den Tebach, Gaham, Tahasch und Maacha.
1Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, ‘Abraham!’ ‘Here I am,’ Abraham replied.2Then God said, ‘Take your son, your only son. He is the one you love. Take Isaac. Go to the place called Moriah. Give your son to me there as a burnt offering. Sacrifice him on the mountain I will show you.’3Early the next morning Abraham got up and loaded his donkey. He took two of his servants and his son Isaac with him. He cut enough wood for the burnt offering. Then he started out for the place God had shown him.4On the third day Abraham saw the place a long way off.5He said to his servants, ‘Stay here with the donkey. I and the boy will go over there and worship. Then we’ll come back to you.’6Abraham had his son Isaac carry the wood for the burnt offering. He himself carried the fire and the knife. And the two of them walked on together.7Then Isaac said to his father Abraham, ‘Father?’ ‘Yes, my son?’ Abraham replied. ‘The fire and wood are here,’ Isaac said. ‘But where is the lamb for the burnt offering?’8Abraham answered, ‘God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.’ And the two of them walked on together.9They reached the place God had shown Abraham. There Abraham built an altar. He arranged the wood on it. He tied up his son Isaac. Abraham placed him on the altar, on top of the wood.10Then he reached out his hand. He picked up the knife to kill his son.11But the angel of the LORD called out to him from heaven. He said, ‘Abraham! Abraham!’ ‘Here I am,’ Abraham replied.12‘Do not lay a hand on the boy,’ he said. ‘Do not harm him. Now I know that you would do anything for God. You have not held back from me your son, your only son.’13Abraham looked round. There in a bush he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram. He sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son.14So Abraham named that place The LORD Will Provide. To this day people say, ‘It will be provided on the mountain of the LORD.’15The angel of the LORD called out to Abraham from heaven a second time.16He said, ‘I am giving you my word that I will bless you. I will bless you because of what you have done,’ announces the LORD. ‘You have not held back your son, your only son.17So I will certainly bless you. I will make the children born into your family as many as the stars in the sky. I will make them as many as the grains of sand on the seashore. They will take over the cities of their enemies.18All nations on earth will be blessed because of your children. All these things will happen because you have obeyed me.’19Then Abraham returned to his servants. They started out together for Beersheba. And Abraham stayed in Beersheba.
Nahor’s sons
20Some time later Abraham was told, ‘Milkah has become a mother. She has had sons by your brother Nahor.21Uz was born first. Then came his brother Buz. Kemuel was born next. He became the father of Aram.22Milkah’s other sons are Kesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph and Bethuel.’23Bethuel became the father of Rebekah. Milkah had the eight sons by Abraham’s brother Nahor.24Nahor had a concubine named Reumah. She also had sons. They were Tebah, Gaham, Tahash and Maakah.
