Die Freistädte

1 Und der HERR redete mit Josua und sprach: 2 Sage den Israeliten: Bestimmt unter euch Freistädte, von denen ich euch durch Mose gesagt habe. (4Mo 35,9) 3 Dahin kann ein Totschläger fliehen, der jemand aus Versehen und ohne Vorsatz erschlägt, damit sie euch eine Freistatt sind vor dem Bluträcher. 4 Und wer zu einer dieser Städte flieht, soll draußen vor dem Stadttor stehen bleiben und vor den Ältesten der Stadt seine Sache vorbringen; dann sollen sie ihn zu sich in die Stadt nehmen und ihm Raum geben, bei ihnen zu wohnen. 5 Und wenn der Bluträcher ihm nachjagt, sollen sie den Totschläger nicht in seine Hände übergeben, weil er ohne Vorsatz seinen Nächsten erschlagen hat und ihm vorher nicht feind gewesen ist. 6 So soll er in der Stadt wohnen, bis er vor der Gemeinde vor Gericht gestanden hat und bis der Hohepriester gestorben ist, der zu jener Zeit im Amt sein wird. Dann darf der Totschläger zurückkommen in seine Stadt und in sein Haus, zur Stadt, aus der er geflohen ist. 7 Da weihten sie Kedesch in Galiläa auf dem Gebirge Naftali und Sichem auf dem Gebirge Ephraim und Kirjat-Arba – das ist Hebron – auf dem Gebirge Juda; 8 und jenseits des Jordans, im Osten von Jericho, bestimmten sie Bezer in der Wüste auf der Ebene im Gebiet des Stammes Ruben und Ramot in Gilead im Gebiet des Stammes Gad und Golan in Baschan im Gebiet des Stammes Manasse. (5Mo 4,41) 9 Das waren die Städte, bestimmt für alle Israeliten und die Fremdlinge, die in ihrer Mitte wohnten, dass dahin fliehen könne, wer jemand aus Versehen erschlägt, damit er nicht stirbt durch den Bluträcher, bis er vor der Gemeinde gestanden hat.

1 وَقَالَ الرَّبُّ لِيَشُوعَ: 2 «أَبْلِغْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ أَنْ يُعَيِّنُوا لأَنْفُسِهِمْ مُدُنَ الْمَلْجَإِ كَمَا أَمَرْتُ مُوسَى، 3 لِيَهْرُبَ إِلَيْهَا كُلُّ مَنْ قَتَلَ نَفْساً سَهْواً عَنْ غَيْرِ قَصْدٍ، فَتَكُونَ لَكُمْ مَلْجَأً مِنْ طَالِبِ الدَّمِ. 4 فَيَلُوذُ بِوَاحِدَةٍ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْمُدُنِ وَيَقِفُ عِنْدَ مَدْخَلِ بَوَّابَةِ الْمَدِينَةِ، شَارِحاً قَضِيَّتَهُ لِشُيُوخِ الْمَدِينَةِ، فَيُدْخِلُونَهُ الْمَدِينَةَ وَيُوَفِّرُونَ لَهُ مَكَاناً لِلإِقَامَةِ فِيهَا. 5 وَإذَا تَعَقَّبَهُ طَالِبُ الدَّمِ فَلا يَنْبَغِي أَنْ يُسَلِّمُوا الْمُتَّهَمَ لَهُ، لأَنَّهُ قَتَلَ جَارَهُ عَنْ غَيْرِ قَصْدٍ وَمِنْ غَيْرِ سَابِقِ نِيَّةٍ حَاقِدَةٍ. 6 وَيَظَلُّ مُقِيماً فِي تِلْكَ الْمَدِينَةِ حَتَّى يَمْثُلَ أَمَامَ الْقَضَاءِ لِيَلْقَى مُحَاكَمَةً عَادِلَةً، وَإِلَى أَنْ يَمُوتَ رَئِيسُ الْكَهَنَةِ الَّذِي يَكُونُ فِي تِلْكَ الأَيَّامِ. عِنْدَئِذٍ يَرْجِعُ الْقَاتِلُ إِلَى مَدِينَتِهِ الَّتِي هَرَبَ مِنْهَا وَإِلَى بَيْتِهِ». 7 فَخَصَّصَ الإِسْرَائِيلِيُّونَ مُدُنَ مَلْجَأٍ: قَادَشَ فِي الْجَلِيلِ فِي جَبَلِ نَفْتَالِي وَشَكِيمَ فِي جَبَلِ أَفْرَايِمَ، وَقَرْيَةَ أَرْبَعَ الَّتِي هِيَ حَبْرُونُ فِي جَبَلِ يَهُوذَا. 8 أَمَّا فِي شَرْقِيِّ نَهْرِ الأُرْدُنِّ عِنْدَ أَرِيحَا فَقَدْ خَصَّصُوا بَاصِرَ فِي الصَّحْرَاءِ فِي سَهْلِ سِبْطِ رَأُوبَيْنَ، وَرَامُوتَ فِي جِلْعَادَ فِي أَرْضِ سِبْطِ جَادٍ، وَجُولانَ فِي بَاشَانَ مِنْ أَرْضِ سِبْطِ مَنَسَّى. 9 هَذِهِ هِيَ مُدُنُ الْمَلْجَإِ الَّتِي صَارَتْ مَلاذاً لِكُلِّ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ وَلِلْغُرَبَاءِ الْمُقِيمِينَ بَيْنَهُمْ، لِكَيْ يَهْرُبَ إِلَيْهَا كُلُّ مَنْ يَقْتُلُ نَفْساً عَنْ غَيْرِ قَصْدٍ، فَلا يَمُوتُ بَيدِ طَالِبِ الدَّمِ، وَلِكَيْ يَمْثُلَ لِلْمُحَاكَمَةِ أَمَامَ الْجَمَاعَةِ.

Cities of refuge

1 Then the Lord said to Joshua: 2 ‘Tell the Israelites to designate the cities of refuge, as I instructed you through Moses, 3 so that anyone who kills a person accidentally and unintentionally may flee there and find protection from the avenger of blood. 4 When they flee to one of these cities, they are to stand in the entrance of the city gate and state their case before the elders of that city. Then the elders are to admit the fugitive into their city and provide a place to live among them. 5 If the avenger of blood comes in pursuit, the elders must not surrender the fugitive, because the fugitive killed their neighbour unintentionally and without malice aforethought. 6 They are to stay in that city until they have stood trial before the assembly and until the death of the high priest who is serving at that time. Then they may go back to their own home in the town from which they fled.’ 7 So they set apart Kedesh in Galilee in the hill country of Naphtali, Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim, and Kiriath Arba (that is, Hebron) in the hill country of Judah. 8 East of the Jordan (on the other side from Jericho) they designated Bezer in the wilderness on the plateau in the tribe of Reuben, Ramoth in Gilead in the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan in the tribe of Manasseh. 9 Any of the Israelites or any foreigner residing among them who killed someone accidentally could flee to these designated cities and not be killed by the avenger of blood prior to standing trial before the assembly.

2 – Повели исраильтянам выбрать города-убежища, как Я говорил вам через Мусу, 3 чтобы всякий, кто убьёт другого человека случайно и неумышленно, мог убежать туда и найти защиту от мстителя за кровь. 4 Когда он убежит в один из этих городов, то пусть встанет у городских ворот^[1] и изложит своё дело перед старейшинами того города. После этого пусть они примут его в свой город и дадут ему место, чтобы он мог жить там. 5 Если мститель за кровь станет преследовать его, они не должны выдавать обвиняемого, потому что он убил неумышленно и не питал к убитому ненависти. 6 Пусть он остаётся в том городе, пока не предстанет перед обществом на суд или пока не умрёт главный священнослужитель, который будет в то время. Потом он может вернуться в свой дом, в город, из которого убежал. 7 И они отделили Кедеш в Галилее в нагорьях Неффалима, Шехем в нагорьях Ефраима и город Кириат-Арбу (то есть Хеврон) в нагорьях Иуды. 8 На восточной стороне Иордана, что близ Иерихона, они выбрали Бецер в пустыне на плоскогорье в роду Рувима, Рамот в Галааде в роду Гада и Голан в Башане в роду Манассы. 9 Всякий исраильтянин или живущий среди них чужеземец, который убивал кого-либо неумышленно, мог убежать в эти выбранные города и не погибнуть от руки мстителя за кровь, пока не предстанет перед обществом на суд.
