Zachäus

1 Und er ging nach Jericho hinein und zog hindurch. 2 Und siehe, da war ein Mann mit Namen Zachäus, der war ein Oberer der Zöllner und war reich. 3 Und er begehrte, Jesus zu sehen, wer er wäre, und konnte es nicht wegen der Menge; denn er war klein von Gestalt. 4 Und er lief voraus und stieg auf einen Maulbeerfeigenbaum, um ihn zu sehen; denn dort sollte er durchkommen. 5 Und als Jesus an die Stelle kam, sah er auf und sprach zu ihm: Zachäus, steig eilend herunter; denn ich muss heute in deinem Haus einkehren. 6 Und er stieg eilend herunter und nahm ihn auf mit Freuden. 7 Da sie das sahen, murrten sie alle und sprachen: Bei einem Sünder ist er eingekehrt. (Lk 5,30; Lk 15,2) 8 Zachäus aber trat herzu und sprach zu dem Herrn: Siehe, Herr, die Hälfte von meinem Besitz gebe ich den Armen, und wenn ich jemanden betrogen habe, so gebe ich es vierfach zurück. (2Mo 21,37; 4Mo 5,6; Hes 33,14) 9 Jesus aber sprach zu ihm: Heute ist diesem Hause Heil widerfahren, denn auch er ist ein Sohn Abrahams. (Lk 13,16) 10 Denn der Menschensohn ist gekommen, zu suchen und selig zu machen, was verloren ist. (Hes 34,16; Lk 5,32; 1Tim 1,15)

Von den anvertrauten Pfunden

11 Als sie nun zuhörten, sagte er ein weiteres Gleichnis; denn er war nahe bei Jerusalem und sie meinten, das Reich Gottes werde sogleich offenbar werden. (Mt 25,14) 12 Und er sprach: Ein Mann von edler Herkunft zog in ein fernes Land, um ein Königtum zu erlangen und dann zurückzukommen. 13 Der ließ zehn seiner Knechte rufen und gab ihnen zehn Pfund und sprach zu ihnen: Handelt damit, bis ich wiederkomme! 14 Seine Bürger aber waren ihm feind und schickten eine Gesandtschaft hinter ihm her und ließen sagen: Wir wollen nicht, dass dieser über uns herrsche. 15 Und es begab sich, als er wiederkam, nachdem er das Königtum erlangt hatte, da ließ er die Knechte zu sich rufen, denen er das Geld gegeben hatte, um zu erfahren, was sie erhandelt hätten. 16 Da trat der erste herzu und sprach: Herr, dein Pfund hat zehn Pfund eingebracht. 17 Und er sprach zu ihm: Recht so, du guter Knecht; weil du im Geringsten treu gewesen bist, sollst du Macht haben über zehn Städte. (Mt 24,45; Lk 16,10) 18 Der zweite kam auch und sprach: Herr, dein Pfund hat fünf Pfund erbracht. 19 Zu dem sprach er auch: Und du sollst über fünf Städte sein. 20 Und der dritte kam und sprach: Herr, siehe da, hier ist dein Pfund, das ich in einem Tuch verwahrt habe; 21 denn ich fürchtete mich vor dir, weil du ein harter Mann bist; du nimmst, was du nicht angelegt hast, und erntest, was du nicht gesät hast. 22 Er sprach zu ihm: Mit deinen eigenen Worten richte ich dich, du böser Knecht. Wusstest du, dass ich ein harter Mann bin, nehme, was ich nicht angelegt habe, und ernte, was ich nicht gesät habe, 23 warum hast du dann mein Geld nicht zur Bank gebracht? Und wenn ich zurückgekommen wäre, hätte ich’s mit Zinsen eingefordert. 24 Und er sprach zu denen, die dabeistanden: Nehmt das Pfund von ihm und gebt’s dem, der zehn Pfund hat. 25 Und sie sprachen zu ihm: Herr, er hat doch schon zehn Pfund. 26 Ich sage euch aber: Wer da hat, dem wird gegeben werden; von dem aber, der nicht hat, wird auch das genommen werden, was er hat. (Mt 13,12; Mk 4,25; Lk 8,18) 27 Doch diese meine Feinde, die nicht wollten, dass ich über sie herrsche, bringt her und macht sie vor mir nieder.

Jesu Einzug in Jerusalem

28 Und als er das gesagt hatte, ging er voran und zog hinauf nach Jerusalem. (Mt 21,1; Mk 11,1; Lk 9,51; Joh 12,12)

29 Und es begab sich, als er nahe von Betfage und Betanien an den Berg kam, der Ölberg heißt, da sandte er zwei Jünger 30 und sprach: Geht hin in das Dorf, das gegenüberliegt. Und wenn ihr hineinkommt, werdet ihr ein Füllen angebunden finden, auf dem noch nie ein Mensch gesessen hat; bindet es los und bringt’s her! (Sach 9,9) 31 Und wenn euch jemand fragt: Warum bindet ihr es los?, dann sagt so: Der Herr bedarf seiner. 32 Und die er gesandt hatte, gingen hin und fanden’s, wie er ihnen gesagt hatte. (Lk 22,13) 33 Als sie aber das Füllen losbanden, sprachen seine Herren zu ihnen: Warum bindet ihr das Füllen los? 34 Sie aber sprachen: Der Herr bedarf seiner. 35 Und sie brachten’s zu Jesus und warfen ihre Kleider auf das Füllen und setzten Jesus darauf. 36 Als er nun hinzog, breiteten sie ihre Kleider auf den Weg. (2Kön 9,13) 37 Und als er schon nahe am Abhang des Ölbergs war, fing die ganze Menge der Jünger an, mit Freuden Gott zu loben mit lauter Stimme über alle Taten, die sie gesehen hatten, (Lk 2,20) 38 und sprachen: Gelobt sei, der da kommt, der König, in dem Namen des Herrn! Friede sei im Himmel und Ehre in der Höhe! (Ps 118,26; Lk 2,14) 39 Und einige von den Pharisäern in der Menge sprachen zu ihm: Meister, weise doch deine Jünger zurecht! 40 Er antwortete und sprach: Ich sage euch: Wenn diese schweigen werden, so werden die Steine schreien. (Hab 2,11)

Jesus weint über Jerusalem

41 Und als er nahe hinzukam und die Stadt sah, weinte er über sie 42 und sprach: Wenn doch auch du erkenntest an diesem Tag, was zum Frieden dient! Aber nun ist’s vor deinen Augen verborgen. (Mt 13,13) 43 Denn es wird eine Zeit über dich kommen, da werden deine Feinde um dich einen Wall aufwerfen, dich belagern und von allen Seiten bedrängen (Jes 29,3; Lk 21,20) 44 und werden dich dem Erdboden gleichmachen samt deinen Kindern in dir und keinen Stein auf dem andern lassen in dir, weil du die Zeit nicht erkannt hast, in der du besucht worden bist. (Lk 1,68; Lk 1,78; Lk 7,16; Lk 21,6)

Die Tempelreinigung

45 Und er ging in den Tempel und fing an, die Händler hinauszutreiben, (Mt 21,12; Mk 11,15; Joh 2,13) 46 und sprach zu ihnen: Es steht geschrieben: »Mein Haus wird ein Bethaus sein«; ihr aber habt es zur Räuberhöhle gemacht. (Jer 7,11) 47 Und er lehrte täglich im Tempel. Aber die Hohenpriester und die Schriftgelehrten und die Angesehensten des Volkes trachteten danach, dass sie ihn umbrächten, 48 und fanden nicht, wie sie es machen sollten; denn alles Volk hing ihm an und hörte ihn.

1 And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. 2 And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich. 3 And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature. 4 And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way. 5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house. 6 And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully. 7 And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner. 8 And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. 9 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. 11 And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear. 12 He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. 13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. 14 But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us. 15 And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading. 16 Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds. 17 And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities. 18 And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds. 19 And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities. 20 And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin: 21 For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow. 22 And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow: 23 Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury? 24 And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds. 25 (And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.) 26 For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him. 27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me. 28 And when he had thus spoken, he went before, ascending up to Jerusalem. 29 And it came to pass, when he was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, 30 Saying, Go ye into the village over against you; in the which at your entering ye shall find a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him hither. 31 And if any man ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say unto him, Because the Lord hath need of him. 32 And they that were sent went their way, and found even as he had said unto them. 33 And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose ye the colt? 34 And they said, The Lord hath need of him. 35 And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon. 36 And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way. 37 And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen; 38 Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. 39 And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. 40 And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out. 41 And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, 42 Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. 43 For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, 44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation. 45 And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought; 46 Saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves. 47 And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him, 48 And could not find what they might do: for all the people were very attentive to hear him.
